I hope EA fixes the Crowd

Postby Ruff Ryder on Sun Jul 20, 2003 4:40 am

This isn't just because the crowd looks 2D but they dont respond well. The sound was okay but the animations are dumb. You could be losin by 20, the crowd completely silent but if you look in the crowd you see alot of people cheering.

Also people were hoping the net would be fixed and better sounds so it feels like a dagger, but what is all of this without an emocional crowd. Like last year when Horry hit the game winner and the crowd exploded. They need to explode when we hit clutch shots. They need to all jump to their feet and raise their hands in the air. That would provide real NBA atmosphere.

thats true. EA doesn't concentrate on anything but the gameplay and player graphics.

Plus they oughta ad a Jack Nicholson on the front row in the Staples Center

yeah, that would be awesome. And they should add cut-scenes with crowd members getting ejected or yelling at refs to really turn the momentum(jack nicholson)

I guess it would be a nice touch, but it wouldn't really add much to the game.

I would like to see the crowd react better to the game though. Live 2002's crowd was pretty good in that respect - a series of great plays by the home team would soon get them into a frenzy that lasted as long as you kept playing entertaining basketball.

thats wat is good about the crowd in the nhl series, i remember this being mentioned before. In NHL 2003 theres a crowd emotion meter, or something along those lines, and when you get the crowd revved up by making great plays, in the case of hockey it was either through a series of big hits or interceptions and such. And that inturn made the team perform that lil bit better..
that is something that would be awesome for nba live, i dun mind the cloned crowds , since if every1 had real faces , 3d...etcetc = more memory needed for the game

on a sidenote, i liked how in live, if u played a crappy team, the arena would be full of empty seats :)

The crowd can be better but i like the idea of the crowd making some noise in clutch situtations!

I also hate how the crowd keeps cheering at the end of every single game regardless of the outcome (away team wins and the home crowd is still happy).

The crowd is pretty ok. I'd like the sounds to feel more involved. And some visual additions would be nice, but the flow of the game is the most important part. And the improved crowd would clutter the game pretty hard.

Maybe for Live 2010, but don't expect it any sooner.

That's a great idea! Especially it's not so hard to implement.

Who seemed to think that this idea wasn't already in the game.
