I wanted Tim Roth or Mark Hamill, but I know Ledger is a pretty good actor and will do a good job. I'm just having trouble picturing him in that makeup and doing the laugh.

I'm anxious to see how they portray the Joker. Nolan clearly tried to create a realistic Batman universe, so I'm wondering if he's really going to wear all the makeup and everything. If you look at Scarecrow, he just looks like a regular creepy guy with a potato sack on his head.

I will be counting down the days until this movie arrives (along with part 3). The first quadrilogy made a lot of Batman fanboys re-examine their fascination with the character, so the fact that such an intelligent filmmaker in Nolan is running the show now, the series has been reborn.

I'm also now waiting to see who they cast as Harvey Dent, becuase he have a role in this next movie. All the rumours have said it will be Josh Lucas, but the guy I'd like to see play that part is Brad Pitt. It won't happen, but it's fun to dream.

Oh well, at least Katie Holmes is gone.

Movie name: Batman - The Dark Knight

Cast:

Batman - Bale
Joker - Ledger
Harvey Dent - Ryan Phillipe
Penguin - Hoffman?

From everything I've heard, the penguin's not in this series. Dark Knight will have the Joker as the main villain along with Dent before he becomes Two-Face, and then the third movie will feature as the main villain. I don't think Nolan would want to do the penguin. Considering how realistic he makes these, I don't think he'd want to ruin that with a Penguin man.

And it is also possible that Ras Al Ghul will be a recurring character throughout the trilogy, despite his apparent death.

All we can do is wait and watch I suppose.

As I said, Phillipe as Dent, Ledger as Joker and Hoffman (although uncertain about this one) as Penguin. And the title will be The Dark Knight.

I think Heath Ledger is a magnificent choice. He has a very unique smile, so with a little makeup, I'm sure it will work.
EDIT: He also has clown-like hair...
I also like Ryan Philippe as Dent.

I definitely dont think Ledger suits the job, however he does have the Joker smile.

He will be perfect for the role if they can morph is voice...something like mark hamil's animated joker. My only problem with him is that he's a little young for the role.

But that youth will probably fit better with the series. This isn't like the original Batman series because he's just starting out, and is still fairly young. It would make more sense that most of the villains associated with him are also at the younger stages of their "careers."
