Lmao, man... you created this thread a while back, and its like, summer. Finally getting it eh? But yeah, best storyline... definitely the ECW one. The storyline is kinda deja vu-ish, because after the game was released several elements of those storylines appeared in WWE programming... interesting to say the least. But I'd say the ECW one. Totally awesome. Oh, and I find it really fun to play season mode with your own CAW. Just feels... fun. Overall, SvR2006 is totally awesome (y) maybe not better than No Mercy (Let's hope SvR2007 would be better, although I doubt it)

Funny this thread should be bumped, I've been playing this a bit the last couple of days. I hadn't bothered to get the GM trophy when I was playing it a lot more so I thought I'd give it a go, partly because I'd like to unlock everything and I hadn't given GM mode much of a go previously and also to see if I could do any better booking a virtual WWE since I'm not full of glowing praise for the current real life product.

So far...not bad. I'm controlling RAW and I'm getting the hang of managing all the wrestlers with their fatigue, injuries and morale but Smackdown's just made up some ground since I've just played through a month with a Smackdown-only PPV. Any tips for staying on top and pulling ahead? I know I could just do a two player GM game to unlock the trophy and be done with it but I'd like to give it a fair try before I resort to that.

I was playing GM Mode for quite a bit too... gave up, it's too much of a hassle. You're pretty much constantly playing a catch-up/lose game with Smackdown throughout the year until Wrestlemania. But my method on making my matches top notches, was actually playing in my card's top matches. Build a good feud, and give the feud a final showdown match during it's peak. I went with the one that always works. Undertaker vs Kane with a showdown in a HIAC match. But throughout GM Mode, it's similiar to real life. It's essential to put entertaining matches. It sort of worked for me until I got bored of it. Also, check gamefaqs, they do have some handy tips as well.

Yeah I've noticed that playing the matches and determining the winner of the top feuds seems to work better than leaving it up to simming. Anyway, thanks for the tips, I've got some good stuff from GameFAQs (as always). I bet I'll end up doing the two player cheap strategy to get the trophy but as I said I'd like to give it a go earning it legit. :)

I can't find in that site a CAW for Bob Sapp (or maybe I missed it). My crazy mind just thought of a Bob Sapp vs. Jugs match. Jugs in all his 119 lbs. against The Beast.

Played both, they're still the same. Only thing different that the PSP had and the PS2 didn't was useless mini games.(n)

To get the ECW storyline in the Smackdown storyline, you have to totally side with RVD throughout the whole story... and then you get to the ECW storyline... it was more like a ECW takeover.

no you don't. decisions do not affect the story's path. only which wrestler you choose.

to get the ECW storyline, use someone not involved in it (someone other than big show, booker, rey, rvd).

I was under the impression if you sided with RVD in the second week, it went to the ECW storyline where he won the title and called it the ECW championship. If you side with Cena, it turns out you were the one who ran over Teddy Long. Obviously you can't pick Cena or RVD and still play out that angle and some of the other plots (like Urning Your Spot) can't be played if you've selected any of the wrestlers involved.

Hey, they did the ECW invasion and gave RVD a run with the title. Let's not rule anything out. ;)

Good point. I hear that Teddy Long's getting stale and might get a heel turn or whatever so it's possible

Guess I haven't played through it enough times with enough wrestlers. I really only play GM mode these days since once you've played through Story mode a couple of times, you've pretty much seen it all. At least this year, anyway.

Besides the fact it was the exact same thing that happened to Stone-Cold a few years ago.

Not quite the exact same thing since Austin was already the WWF champ at the time, turned on the WWF to join the WCW faction at the Invasion PPV and wasn't billed as being both the WWF and WCW champion since Booker T still held the WCW title at the time. Nevertheless, the latest invasion angle was somewhat of a re-hash in places.

Still giving GM Mode a go, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I managed to build up some good feuds over the month and actually put on a 5 star PPV (a 2 star match, 3.5 star match, 4 star match, two 4.5 star matches and a 5 star main event), swinging 1,000,000 fans in my favour.

i gave up on GM mode months ago. i'm actually doing a fantasy booking fed on SDVR06, complete with its own website, and all matches played out on the game. it's not quite ready yet, but i'll post it here when it is.

what was the card for the PPV?

Big Show vs Kane (Parking Lot Brawl), HBK vs Mankind (Hell in a Cell), Stone Cold vs Batista (Cage match), Shelton Benjamin vs Chavo (Ladder Match for the IC title), Orton vs The Rock (Ironman), HHH vs Hogan (Last Man Standing for the WWE title). Needless to say the popularity of the Legends has helped the feuds and match ratings immensely. I guess it takes away some of the challenge but it's more of an honest go than using two player mode to grab the GM trophy (which I may still have to do yet, I'm only up to June).

Having put so much ground between myself and Smackdown I might start phasing out the Legends though.
