GL next game

yep, I'm glad you approve....I'm also glad I sent Claxton to Hawks since he also went there IRL

Thierry² wrote:Great trades X, nice job in taking draft picks from Atlanta. (Y)

it's not a super strong draft so the Claxton trade probably isn't as one-sided as it might seem....the Atlanta pick will probably be somewhere in the mid-to-late lottery & considering it's not a great draft, I'll get a contributor, but maybe not even someone better than Claxton straight off the bat....a risk, but one I'm willing to take :P

Its_asdf wrote:Arg... You traded Rasual Butler and I liked Jackson Vroman.

And gee, Sean Marks. Didn't see that one coming. :|

Delfino, Harvey and McCoy are my favourites of the trade. I remember when McCoy tore it up for the Raptors in the pre-season and summer leagues and was supposed to be their go-to big guy.. So much for that.

It sucks that you're playing on console and can't update the rosters... I would've loved to see Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons in action.

the Sean Marks' trade was an obvious as a Raptors' dynasty from you   if it's any consolation, I didn't have him in my Blazers' dynasty

I would love to have guys like Hilton & Cedric, but alas, that is the way it is....

you liked Vroman, eh? :o

don't worry, he's getting plenty of time off the pine  he'll get every opportunity to contribute

Nah, with Sam always making top notch Raptor dynasties I don't really feel the need to make one anymore.

I don't really LIKE Vroman since he's just a tall white guy, but there's something about him that didn't make me feel like you should have traded him.

I think it was the hair. I think he spends more time on choosing hair products rather than actually playing bsaketball.

ahh well, he's gone now, so there's no looking back....

Has it crossed your mind to make some similar trades to that we saw New Orleans make this offseason (like trading JR Smith/ Brown for Chandler)?

I would be lying if I said no....it gives me an excuse to get JR Smith out of town & concentrate time at SG to Synder & Delfino until I can draft or sign a better SG....I'm not ready to pull trigger yet, but it could happen :P

I'd say pull the trigger. You might be able to land an additional first round pick as well, which are great when scouting becuase you can plan on taking a few players, or even move up in the draft.

yep, I think I will....considering how good JR Smith is in game, perhaps I could go another draft pick....maybe I'll go for a 2008 one since I have a feeling that draft will be stronger

EDIT: I feel I need a better shot blocker too, so could be a good move....& would make my team closer to real life team, outside that Peja signing that I will not mimic :o

cheers, good of you to say Melo

and to Matthew, I can't get a Chandler trade to go through....Bulls are too smart & won't let him go....I'll give it a shot again in the off-season....hopefully by then Smith has improved a bit more, Chandler hasn't & the Bulls pick up another centre so they're willing to give Chandler up....

Nice depth you got going for this association. I hate Chandler, so I would advise not to get him. He can't really do much. Just block. P.J. Brown can do that so I don't see the need to trade him and J.R. Smith.

cheers....I didn't end up getting Chandler as the CPU would've wanted me to throw in a 1st Rounder to boot....not worth it....

Couldn't really be bothered playing much of 2005/06 season as rosters were old & wanted to get up-to-date to 2006 off-season & to the draft. So I decided to sim out the season, just taking care of the managerial aspects of the game. Chemistry plays a huge key in this game as I was losing all my simmed games behind a dismal rating of as low as 18%. After being 2-3 at the end of November, the team finished with the 2nd worst record in the league at like 6-23.

Chris Paul averaged over 15ppg and 7apg on his way to All-Rookie 1st Team honours. Atlanta SF Marvin Williams was the Rookie of the Year. Minnesota PF Kevin Garnett scooped all the awards as he was the MVP and the Defensive Player of the Year. Didn't help the team's success though, as once again it was the Spurs edging out the Pistons in 3 tough games to win the title.

Elden Campbell retired at season's end, & I used my draft pick (#3 overall) & the pick I got off Atlanta (#8 overall) to select coveted PF Kelly Gooding, a defensive gem out of UMass, who was favourably compared to Kevin Garnett. He seems a bit more like Greg Oden to me, but hopefully he turns out. With my other lottery pick, I drafted SG Timmy Gray out of Rhode Island. Gray has nice potential (NBA Comparison = Kobe) & has some good aspects to his game but is a defensive liability at present & will have to be trained up before he sees much, if any PT.

I signed SG Shane Battier to a 4 deal at about $5mill per year. I front-loaded the deal to preserve cap space down the line. Battier adds the defensive presence I felt I needed on the perimeter. He'll open the season as the starting SF. I also snapped up PF Vladimir Radmanovic relatively cheaply, at about $3.2mill per season. He will be the team's 6th man & represents my budget Peja option to spread the floor.

Paul & JR Smith look to be backcourt of the future as both players go from strength to strength. Battier shores up the SF spot, whilst West is improving at PF. PJ Brown figures to see out the last year of his deal before rookie PF Kelly Gooding is ready to take over as the starter for years to come.

I also made an early season trade in '06/07 season as I sent SF Desmond Mason, along with rookie PG Ray Young and my 2008 1st Round Pick to Charlotte for newly signed PG Gary Payton and Charlotte's 2007 1st Round Pick and their 2008 2nd Round Pick. You may wonder why I did this trade, here's the story. Mason was declining and in the last year of his deal. Payton represents some extra help as a combo guard and some veteran experience. Maybe some additional jersey sales too. I didn't want rookie Young, but the main core of the deal was getting the Bobcats' 1st Rounder this season. This is due to the fact that the 2007 draft is looking to be the strongest draft since 2003 when Lebron, Melo, Bosh and Wade entered the league. There looks to be a lot of potential superstars in the making and I wanted a second pick, even if it is late lottery. I'm willing to gamble that the 2008 draft will be diluted and that my pick want won't be a lottery pick by then.

Final note about my team, it's chemistry now sits at 13% and the owner isn't happy

from around the league....Manu Ginobili won Finals MVP, his rating dropped like 16pts & he was dealt to the Bobcats where he backs up #2 draft pick Hammonds (Kobe Bryant comparison & he's got an A+ for outside shooting) who I heavily coveted....Steve Francis learnt to co-exist with Stephon Marbury as he averaged over 15ppg, 6rpg & 5apg off the bench....well done Franchise....Bo Outlaw somehow wins MIP award....they really need to ditch that award fast....Gilbert Arenas & Paul Pierce made their 1st All-NBA team as they joined Garnett, Shaq & Kobe....Shawn Marion finally got his dues as he made All-Defensive 1st team alongside Garnett, Ben Wallace, Jason Kidd & Tracy McGrady....Chris Paul & Marvin Williams were joined on the All-rookie 1st team by Sean May, Andrew Bogut & Julius Hodge, who avoided a few bullets to start the whole season at SG for the Nuggets....finally, Andrew Watson did not win Executive of the Year....maybe next year....I did make a $29M profit in 1st year, so that ain't bad I guess....

I've updated my team roster and transaction history on 1st page for anyone who might be interested. I was really impressed with off-season and rookie draft. I'm really hoping that 2k7 can take it to a whole new level

I'm playing half of games, simming the other half....through 5 games (3 simmed, 2 played) I'm 2-3 (2 human wins, 3 tough simmed losses)....I'm bumping up difficulty to superstar now that I won 2 in a row on all-star....

yep, Battier & Radman are definitely helping....there's a big difference going from Rasual Butler & Donnell Harvey to those 2

Nice offseason dude, I think you did very well (Y) Looks like you need to maybe aquire another big man, although with your rookie bakc you should be alright, although a little thin.

Would be sweet if you posted the overall ratings of the players on your roster :D

cheers, yep Gooding is good (pun not intended)....he's a little raw offensively but his speed (77 for a big guy is great) & size (6'10", 272lbs) is a real asset....he's got the tools to become one of top big men in the game....I hope....as for Gray, he hasn't played yet, but his time will come later this season I would say....it's just unfortunate for him that the 3 SG's in front of him (Smith, Delfino & Synder) have all been playing great....

will post overall ratings beside each player on my roster when I get the chance....Chris Paul started his rookie year out rated 77....last time I checked he was 82....he's a stud....rookie Gooding drafted at rating of 74, but I think with training & development I have him at a 77....Timmy Gray drafted at 71....he might be at 74 or 75 now....not completely sure, but yeah, will update my roster on post 2 of this thread when I get the chance....

as for big men, I'll probably use one of my two 1st Rounders this year on another big....that would give me West, Gooding (starters), with rookie & Marks who are PF/C's....Bass & Radmanovic are PF's, although I also play Rad at SF....the incoming rookie would essentially replace PJ Brown....his contract runs out & I figure to have $10-13mill to play with in free agency with guys like lebron james, dwayne wade, chris bosh & so on being potentially available....I wanted to preserve my cap space this past year, that's why I only got Battier & Radmanovic....
