What is too tall?

Postby 3P on Mon Jul 17, 2006 7:49 pm

What is to tall? I mean that it gets disgustingly big, unhealthy, and needing custom everything. I am going with 6 foot 3 inches [yes i mean to offend most of the NBA].

I'm guessing you're about 5'1? I'm getting up near 6'7 and I've never had to get anything custom made apart from my shoes. I buy clothes at normal shops, I drive a normal car and I get normal girls

To answer your question, I'd say "too tall" would be 6'10 and above.

So you're only 5 inches below your "disgustingly big, unhealthy" height? good luck with that.

I'm 6'1"/6'2" (bball height with shoes) so I don't consider 6'3" disgustingly tall  often I feel I'm only above average height, so anything 6'6" & under is quite normal to me....it's not until players get up to 6'10" & up that they start to become freaks

Well yeah, attention is a good thing unless you're ugly. Girls like tall guys, you'll learn that after your next growth spurt.

Lol, do you realize 6'2, 6'3 is generally accepted as an ideal height for a man and that's the height of a lot of male models and actors, who are supposed to represent the standards for health and beauty in our society? That that's the height of a lot of (the best) athletes in the most popular sports in the world (basketball, soccer, football)?

I'd say the height when one becomes 'too tall' and most people of that size are clumsy, is 6'9 - 6'10.

(I'm 6'2 1/2 in socks, so that makes me what?, 6'4 in terms of the basketball height?)

can someone do research and see at what hight does heart disease become more common? Also how many former nba players made it to their 80's? also do you know that midgets tend to live over 10 years longer than the rest of us?

'Midgets' are result of a genetic deformation. You can't compare them to 'normal' people. As you can't compare professional athletes, who pushed their bodies to the limits for decades to people who train only occassionally. I come from a very tall family (a lot of 6'6 relatives) and they all live very long (80+ years.).

I don't think hieght affects heart dissease. If your fat is more common to have a heart dissease, because fat people get tired easily and aren't in great shape. So if your fat your more likely to get a a heart dissease,so if your tall and you aren't fat is more healthy.Anyway I have plenty of time I can do that researce if I find the motivattion.

But 99% of them aren't and I don't know a single 6'3 guy who had health related problems or couldn't get clothes because of his height, so I don't see your point.

You can't just use that word ('freaky') simply because someone is tall. If you're 6'9, you are bound to have problems finding the clothes you want, but that doesn't mean you're unhealthy or a freak. You can be as tall, as coordinated and as athletic as shorter guys. You're a freak when you look weird, your body seems disproportionate and you have health problems because of your height. Is Kevin Garnett a freak? No he isn't, he's just tall and skinny. Is Shaq a freak? No, he's just tall and strong, it isn't common, but you still can't consider him a freak. A freak is someone like Pavel Podkolzine, whose height is a result of his medical problems. So no, you can't say a certain height is freakish, because you simply can't. It's like creating a thread about what is too athletic.

Edit: List of famous tall men. Michael Crichton is 6'10 .
