Wow...all those comments show most of you know nothing about football...

About the game France was better than Italy. France has had a golden generation that ended yesterday. They won a world cup, the EURO and advanced to the finals of the world cup again 8 years after. Italy simply played with intelligence. They knew they were weaker and concentrated on defense. They definately had the best coach and are the greatest to do the best with the least.

About Zidane of course it's sad to see him go like that and he should'nt have responded but that has always been his weakness. But it's also what has made him such a great player and competitor and even a legend. In no way Zidane will be remebered for this but it will stay as a marking moment of his career bringing even more to his legend. What he did in this world cup and throughout his career is just amazing. Just to remind some of the greatest things he has accomplished: world cup winner scoring 2 goals in the final and wining the ballon d'or award the same year; leading france to win the EURO 2 years after; scoring the winning goal for Real Madrid in the final game of the European cup; leading France to the fina of the world cup at the age of 34 and after announcing he was retriring scoring again in the final (only 4 players have done this) on a PK that only him could shoot like that at such a crucial moment...and so on. He is up with the greatest like Pelé, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckhenbauer, Platini etc.

The Golden ball (ballon d'or) is not the player who is named best player of the world cup but best player playing in europe (that's to say best player of the world) for one year starting january 1st i beleive. Last one was Ronaldinho. This would be like confusing the MVP award and who was named best player of the last olympics...

If you think about that "dive" when France got a penalty, actually, I don't think it was a dive. He was tripped and poor guy's legs crossed, so he felt. And to be honest, I think even he didn't expected a penalty so early in the game :lol:

EDIT: On another note, some rumours here and there say that what got Zidane hot was the Italian dude calling him a "terrorist", referencing his Algerian roots. Dont know how true that is. There are also some rumours saying Zidane also provoked Materazzi into saying such and such.

Hopefully everything comes out in the coming days.

sigh... materazzi got so fucked over.. i can just watch that clip of him getting floored by zidane over and over again and laugh... just too bad it cost france the game.. guess its also Karma since Trezeguet beat Italy with a Golden Goal a couple years back that Italy would get revenge.

It aint a good day for guys with winning streaks, France finally loses to Italy, and Nadel in Tennis finally gets beat by Federer... still.. I serioulsy wait for Zidane's explaination.

Maybe the voice that told him to come back for this world cup told me also to tarnish his career and end it in a negative way

Fuck, Italian TV people are so fucking annoying!! They call Zidane a "bad person" for doing what he did to Materazzi, absolutely forgetting that Materazzi got suspended for ONLY (Yes, I say ONLY. In every other european football league he would have been suspended for lifetime) 8 months for breaking the nose of an opponent when the game was stopped.
Materazzi, until, like, 2 months ago, was the shame of Inter and the whole Serie A, and I just can't believe people is idolizing him now. He's got like 19 red cards in 2003-2004 and something like 15 in 2004-2005 for a total of 34 in 68 (34 games are the number of games played in Serie A. For two seasons it makes 68 but he obviously played less than 68) games, people! That's an average of one red card every two games! It's amazing how they call Zidane an "animal" for doing that when Materazzi ruined the life of that young player and no one (now) remembers it. :shake:

I went and looked that up since I thought some of that stuff was pretty hard to believe. I figured why on earth would Italy select a guy with that kinda record, what do you think? :lol:

-He got suspended 8 matches, not 8 months.

-He had a total of 10 yellows and no red cards in 05/06 serie A.

-He had a total of 7 yellows and 1 red card in 04/05 serie A.

-He had a total of 2 yellow cards and no red cards in 03/04 serie A.

Nothing close to 34 red cards or 1 red card every two games.

He got suspended for 2 months, but he didn't play for 7-8 months. At least, I heard that.

I would love to know where you got that information from by the way because someone must be giving you the wrong information.

I heard it on Controcampo, an Italian sports talk show, where everybody is bashing everybody. I didn't check his stats online, because they have it only on inter.it and I don't want to enter in such a dirty place. If I wasn't sure of what I heard I wouldn't had posted it. I heard it on that talk show, I didn't know if it was right or not, but as you said they gave me the wrong info.
Anyways, I don't change my opinion on Materazzi. For me, after he did the things he did in 2004, they would have suspended him for lifetime
