Another Disappointment Comes to an End

After the 2004-2005 season, the Golden State Warriors looked like they
were finally on track to get back to enjoying some success. The acquisition
of Baron Davis seemed to have turned the team's misfortunes around and
hopes could not have been higher for Warrior fans after years and years
of losing. This was not the case in the '05-'06 season.

The Warriors finished a with dismal 12-17 and was one of the bottom dwellers
of their division. Baron Davis, the team's biggest leader in many facets of their
team, struggled to find his niche with the team despite playing and starting
for all of the Warrior's games. Although Baron's statisics as a whole seemed
impressive, Davis struggled to contribute offensively (15.3ppg) and was considered
by many as the source for the Warrior's disappointing season.

Another source of Golden State's losing was their lack of productivity from
their bench. Although the Warriors retained most of their players from last
season, the bench's productivity took a nosedive. Most of the disappointment
rested on the shoulders of Mickael Pietrus, who was viewed by many to have
a breakout season but his performance regressed throughout the course of
the regular season and averaged a career low 5 ppg.

Like many previous Golden State teams that have struggled, there have always
been signs of promise. Troy Murphy had emerged as a double-double monster,
averaging a career high 19.2 ppg which was second to only Jason Richardson,
another player who has enjoyed career highs in many statisical categories
and for the first time in his career made the All-Star team. Richardson has
solidified his status as the Warriors' go-to scorer and the face of the Warriors
franchise for many years to come.

Diogu and Ellis blew ass this season, but that's because I got lazy and simmed the entire season. I'll definitely make the off-season a lot more in-depth and hopefully more interesting.

Nice Picture

Good luck and keep it for a while!

Thank you.

Draft Lottery

Image

Golden State Off-Season

Re-Signed:

Chris Taft (NBA minmum, 1 yr)

Monta Ellis (2.20 Million, 2 yrs)

Mike Dunleavy (5.03 million, 1 yr)

Analysis:
Mike Dunleavy was pretty unpopular with many Golden State fans, he
was re-signed to only a one year deal worth 5.03 million. This would give
Golden State a lot of cap flexibility and a lot more trade options to play around
with, especially since Dunleavy's contract expires next season.

Rookie highschooler Monta Ellis was also re-signed to a two year deal. Even
though his contributions were lacking, he showed good potential in limited minutes
and displayed the competitiveness that was lacking off the bench last season.
Like most high school players, Ellis does not look too comfortable in an NBA
setting right now, but as a few years go by he looks like an interesting player
that can be the successor to Baron Davis.

Lastly, the Warriors also had signed last year's second round draft, Chris
Taft. Like Ellis, Taft is still a bit too young to contribute and spent all 29 games
last season in the D-League. The management and coaching staff still like
Taft's potential though, so they thought they'd keep him for an extra year to see
how his development comes about since he's never been known to be a hard
worker.

Retired

Calbert Cheaney

Analysis:
Nothing much to say, except for the fact that he was a role player that hardly
saw any action on the court. Cheaney's retirement gives the Warriors a couple
million in cap space, but it's still does not affect the team in any major way.

New Coaching Staff

Victor Dent (Scout)

Analysis:
With secondary scout Ira Wheat leaving the team, Golden State used it's little
budget remaining to acquire Victor Dent. Although he doesn't have much
credibility, his scouting ability seems solid and he should be able to work well
with the scouting staff.

I actually tested out playing with Baron Davis and he's pretty effective on both ends of the court. We'll see though, I might consider it but thats only because I want more playing time for Monta Ellis.

I think you will need to strengthen your frontcourt. Trade Dunleavy

Good luck in the offseason

I agree, the reason why I re-signed Dunleavy was to acquire a tougher big man.

Wow Memphis won, cool season cant wait until next year

It was shocking to me too. I was also pretty suprised that Minnesota was the first seed in the West and got swept by the Kings...

Nice stuff dude, good to see your back

yeah, I fixed everything and it should be working fine now, although the links to the thumbnails on imageshack don't seem to work.

That's got to be the hardest Teabag I've ever seen...

Yeah, it was too late when I realized that the dunk was on my favourite team, Toronto. :? Nah, I'm no Iverson fan and I'd like to keep my trades as realistic as possible, you know? Iverson doesn't bring anything new that Davis doesn't bring to the table.

I love Golden State, so probly following this dynasty GL dude

Thank you for the support and I'll also be following your Wolves dynasty.

Nice update, you had a pretty fair placement in the draft, I would have not
resigned dunleavy because hes like a Raasheed Wallace with no defense.
But maybe you can trade him  good luck in the dynasty hope all goes well.

From left to right: Ronnie Brewer (left), is an unselfish and versatile player. James White (middle), is the most athletic of the trio of new faces. Terrell Hanson (right), is a big body that loves to bang with the big fellas in the paint.

The graphics are crap, I know. I guess I have my video card to blame for that.

I know the article looks a bit crappy, but it was the best I can do with no photoshop (or photoshop skills for that matter).

Thank you, but I am planning on trading Dunleavy, just wait and see.

Yeah Brewer isn't too bad, but it's kind of hard to give him any playing time with Pietrus, Richardson and Dunleavy hogging up all the minutes. Plus I play on 8 minute quarters because my eyes can't handle the strain of 12 (I'm not a gamer, I know).

I'd be more than happy to participate in the birdie board once I'm eligible.

Really cool dynasty. You are pretty popular for your dynasties here and this is the first one I will follow, and Im looking forward.

Ronnie Brewer is good, but I think a C would have been better, O`Bryant for example. But that is a matter of taste, so nice draft anyway.

Thanks man...if you're doing a 29 game season, just go ahead and send it at the midpoint after 15 games. There's been some improvement since last year's shout outs...and we've also added a playoff stat(well almost it's in the works...I'll be working on it tonight too)

Awesome...
