I can't emphasize how much does everything else except the training influence a players development. The team chemistry is propably the most important factor right after personal intrest in training. Cause a few good friends can drag you to the training sessions far better then anything.

The player development should show the season stats... If you played better then before, well you should develop. And the development should always change when a player is traded or dropped from a team. A struggling player that has trouble staying with a team can really get his act together when he's dropped again by his team or then he just looses intrest in it.

I've said this so many times before... The players need some sort of a character to really make the game come alive. There are deals that seem a no-brainer for one team in the real NBA. Like the one minnesota and milwaukee completed. Minnesota had obviously the better angle on that one. But then again Cassell has (or so I've heard) been kind of a hard guy to get on with and thus making the deal seem more sensible all of a sudden. And the deal was all about Milwaukee clearing up some cap space for next summer.

It would also be good to see fewer trades for the sake of having trades. Perhaps making team chemistry a factor would reduce the number of pointless trades. If everything's going well, there's no need to trade one of the best players on the team, but that will happen from time to time.

25 years is too much. So I voted for "YES". 10 years is enough for me.

You all dumb then.

Franchise was made to be simulated. What dumb crack head will play 12 min quarters 82 games a season? Not me.

In my franchises I usually create a player, and he plays for about 20-22 years in the league, so 25 is a good amount of years to play through his career.

Im playing a Franchise now, where I play every game, and I'm in my fourth year, but play 2-min quarters, 28 games a season, I'm not stupid.

And I'm through.

killerht, it would be appreciated if you can change your tone in future posts. Even that is a fairly low level insult, it's still against the rules and spirit of the forum, and certainly does not encourage a positive atmosphere.

It's alright. Please understand that the tone of messages on an Internet forum is not always clear, so it's not always obvious if you are kidding around or hurling insults. There are people who make it their business to call fellow forum members losers/nerds/whatever for the way they play NBA Live or frequent the forum, so it's easy to mistake a joke for malicious behaviour.

But anyway, apology accepted and appreciated, no harm done. :)

The best thing would be if you could carry your dynasty over to the next Live release. Like you start a dynasty in live2004 and you could continue playing the same one in Live2005

Yeah, no.

I don't know how that would work. Maybe you do, but I don't.

But please enlighten us.

It would be too big and complicated. 2005 would have to have all stats saved from the 25 years, and add another 25 years, that's like havin 50 years, and that's too much. Saving stats for 25 zears is A LOT.

Maybe in NBA Live 2020.

Aight?????????

I think I read somewhere that you could import draft classes from NCAA March Madness into Live...I don't know how that would possibly work for the PC, since as far as I know there IS no March Madness for PC....but it's listed as one of the features on the official site. Being able to do that would help a great deal, as you can play a dynasty on March Madness and get to know the players and then move them over to Live...it's great for Madden and NCAA football, I love it, as you can dload rosters and have the actual players going into the NFL draft the year they leave college.

Since they have the ability to import draft classes (supposedly), we could probably make draft classes in the toolkit or whatever for each year. Hell, nbadraft.net goes like three years ahead...that'd be a way to do it, for rookies, anyway.

As for dynasty features, I could have sworn I read somewhere about being able to buy planes and what not for your players for the dynasty mode, which is one of the main differences of the dyansty from the current franchise. Perhaps that's why the graphics, as of now, are unimpressive, save the arenas, because they're using the majority of their manpower on the franchise? Who knows....maybe EA's being retarded again and putting a skeleton crew on another part of a game

Man Ehans you're bitter...

It ain't all bad that EA does. But the big firms have to have that rigid behaviour because they would otherwise drown in byrocracy. It's same here in Finland with Nokia. Those are propably the toughest places to work cause you don't know how your project is doing cause you don't need to know. And then just one day like out of the blue it gets canned, well you just have to live with it.

As for moving your players from March Maddness to Live well, there you go PS2 users... Another sales pitch from EA directed at you. An intriguing idea though and if done well would work just fine.

And about the trading... Some trades seem like no brainers, but the fact is that there's always something to gain. Think of how Minnesota got Cassell this summer, basically for nothing (no offense for Joe Smith fans), but there are monetary and chemistry reasons behind the deal. Cassell just didn't fit into the crew. Chemistry should be a major factor in the game cause there are no people on earth that don't mind the people they are working with. And this is why teams sometimes have to trade away some players they don't want to...

In live 2003 in my current franchise there's a team which starting line up scores about 110ppg... Talk about unrealistic. And the bench scores something like 3ppg per player so that's something like over 130 points per game for a team. Talk about unrealistic. This is something that needs to be fixed. Also the starting line ups that grab almost 40 rebounds per game are just ridicolous.

I came up with a feature that could make this possible without using March Madness. It would also allow people playing the game to input prospects, like Sebastian Telfair or Pavel Podkolzine, that would show up eventually in drafts in franchise without having to make them free agents or on actual teams.

It's part of a long list of ideas that I've been compiling to make in one long post...but I haven't gotten around to fleshing them out or writing them up yet. I'm in Mexico for the week but maybe I'll get more done when I get home.

As for dynasty features, I could have sworn I read somewhere about being able to buy planes and what not for your players for the dynasty mode, which is one of the main differences of the dyansty from the current franchise.

Which I really hope they're not implementing. I want to make personnel decisions...not worry about what plane my players are flying or what they're having for breakfast...ugh...

And another random thought...I do like the possibility that the players you have will affect attendance. There's a chance they could use it to make the dunk rating mean something (players with high dunking attract more fans)...

I share that concern. I'm hoping that most of the emphasis is on basketball operations rather than the business/management side of things.

If the NHL's dynasty is something like an example, well there you collect poits over time with which you can upgrade a feature of your team. Like training or moving about etc. It is not done with actual money at all.

I think EA is trying to streamline their products into a more similar mold so that their games would actually be a little more easier to make. Not everyone would have to create a new system for their game. I'm thinking this...

I think that the plane was just an example for easing your teams journey cross the land and thus making people less fatigued by the journey for the away games.

How did I come up with this... They changed the NHL multiseason mode from "season" to "dynasty" as it has happened with Live series. Just wait and see, I think I'm somewhat right on this...

What I'm saying, is that management/business in sports games are the new thing.

The first games only had exhibition, season, playoffs.

Then in 2000 Live came out with something new, Franchise.

It was simple, and now its going into more detail. The new thing and fun thing is playing a game and being able to manage a team, just like Franchise came out to be the new cool thing, Management/business is gonna be the new cool thing, cuz it's fun to do/play.

Other games are doing that now, NHL, NFL and now I hope NBA Live. Getting in to more depth and details, realism about managing a team is going to be awsome.

And why not have buying private planes for your team, or moving to a new city, building a new arena, its just additions that will make the game for fun to play.

My opinion is that Exhibition, Season, and Playoffs mode are getting old, and I never play them, I only play Franchise. I don't know of anyone who really plays season, exhibition or playoff mode. Barelly anyone plays those modes.

But not if it takes too much away from the basketball side of the game. NBA Live is first and foremost a basketball sim, not a manager game. There's still going to be gameplay in Dynasty Mode. Basketball operations should be important than juggling ticket prices.

True, true.

But so were other sports games. You think Madden NFL wasn't supposed to be a football sim game? Of course, but if they can make a cool detailed and fun managing (business) feature, and still have awsome game play as they do, NBA Live should be able to do that too.

That's all I'm saying. If manager mode or something like that would take away from the real simulation and gamplay, then I wouldn't want that either, then, Franchise the way it is now would be fine, but it can alway be made better.

I hear you, and an increased business/management aspect wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. However, if it was all about managing ticket prices and merchandising sales and not about planning strategy for your next opponent, then it would really be taking the focus away from the actual gameplay, which is still a big part of Franchise/Dynasty Mode.

Perhaps you should be able to choose what kind of role you wish to play in Dynasty Mode. Some people will just want to manage basketball operations (trades, free agency, the draft and so forth) and play the games, while others may want to focus on the business/management side of things. Some people might want the challenge of doing everything.

The one thing about managing a team that I wouldn't want to see is that you can take your team and just go to the carbage bin and throw it in.

Some management should be required, but if you can actually drive the team into a verge of moving into a new city and into new ownership would be bad.

I don't think that there should be actual money that you have to spend on the team. There should be a maximum player budget for each year to represent how much is the ownership ready to pay to get results. And it should vary each year.

So you cannot do this with much success: I fantasy drafted a team with 8 guys still in their rookie contracts, and after a couple of years my team was 1.3 million over the cap and I had already lost Duncan to free agency. I had a super team though... But no team would spend 100 million on player contracts atleast now with the luxury tax.
