It was a close call between SG K.Benzer and C I.Badu but the Guard took the first spot in the 2006 Draft and booked a one way ticket to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the 2006/07 season. Minnesota also scouted some other Centers and Small Forwards before settling on Benzer as the top pick. Badu went to Atlanta and another center, Dean Karpovtsev went to the Bulls. Small Forward, Kevin Olajakundi went to Milwaukee to fill the missing piece in their starting 5. Chris Domi went to Shing Williams' old team, Sacramento, and Haywood Toure was picked up by New Orleans.

Go Benzer!
They all are familiar. The rookies at the first year are almost the same everytime.

Interesting trade, I think Portland got the better of that deal.

Awesome gfx template, nice team choice. I've been following, just haven't been posting. :)

Awesome, Allen in Portland, I'd prefer Starbury but Allen is good.

Good luck with the T-Wolves, you're loaded with undersized SG's.

edit: I think Mark. wants to know how to get the scanlines on the background.

Great trades bro! I hope that Karpovtsev has some potential. What's his development potential?
And Portland really advantaged from that blocbuster trade. They should do good with him.
Damn I also wanted to do some blockbuster dbf trades, but the game crashed whenever I loaded it.

Two Rookies make up the revised Minnesota Timberwolves lineup; Dean Karpovtsev made the move from Chicago after being selected 12th by the Bulls in exchange for Rashad McCants, he will fill the Center position with his dominant 7'5" frame. Top Pick in the draft, Kenneth Benzer, will slot in at Shooting Guard and is able to switch between his natural position and Point. This pushes Ricky Davis into an unfamiliar position at Small Forward, it is hoped he can adjust to the change, defending larger competitors than he did last year.
The main weakness in Minnesota's lineup is at PG where Troy Hudson takes a starting position over Marcus Banks and resigned Anthony Carter. Minnesota may work to increase their depth in the frontcourt through free-agency.
Team Captain, Kevin Garnett, will lead the team from the PF position as he has done for over a decade now.

wow that Karpovtsev is great in height 7'5''. What's his birthplace? I guess his from Europe.
And PG spot really the weakest in your roster.

He's from Switzerland.

Yeah PG is a bit screwed, I might have Benzer play PG and Jaric in the Lineup in some preseason games.

Today's season opening game versus the Knicks proved to be a nailbiter right until the end. The lead switched hands countless times but the home team TWolves raced ahead at the right time and won the game by 5 thanks to some quality clutch free throws by rookie PG/SG Kenneth Benzer. Benzer produced one of the all time greatest NBA debuts for a rookie, nailing 12-17 from the field for 33points and dishing 4 assists. His partnership alongside captain Kevin Garnett and Ricky Davis, along with fellow rookie defensive center Dean Karpovtsev are one of the main reasons fans are looking towards the Playoffs this season.
Jalen Rose came up big for the Knicks after a poor defensive performance by Ricky Davis for Minnesota, the New York Small Forward scored 35 points thanks mainly to Steve Francis and his plethora of assists. Making his debut for the Knicks, Zach Randolph only managed 8 points as the big Power Forward takes an offensive back-seat to New York's other star performers unlike his previous season in Portland.
The day will be remembered for the debut performances of rookies Kenneth Benzer (33pts) and Dean Karpovtsev (10pts, 16reb, 3blk).

All five TWolves starters scored in double figures tonight as Minnesota crushed Utah in the fouth quarter of play. Strong performances from the whole starting lineup forged the win for the home team whilst only Deron Williams could come up big for Utah. An injury scare for Kevin Garnett in the third quarter forced the rest of the TWolves to step up their game, and after their captain's return in the fourth Minnesota surged ahead.
Garnett received player of the game honors with 12-18 shooting from the field netting him 26 points and an additional 11 rebounds. Rookie sensation Kenneth Benzer's second game brought the rookie back down to ground after his 33 point performance in his first game against New York. Benzer hit only 5-12 FG and 2-8 FT!! Not all was lost however, the rookie from Iowa State notched several highlight plays that can be seen in the game review. It was the defense of fellow rookie, Center Dean Karpovtsev from Switzerland that stood out in the game stats sheet with 5 blocks to cap off a strong double-double second game of the year for the 7'5" Karpovtsev.
