Matthew wrote:Yeah I didn't think about it either. The following dvd's work:
Lakers, Philly and Bulls dynasty sets(IMPORTED)
All auusie released dvds (dunks and ankle breakers, top 100 plays, nba foundation)
Spurs 2005 championship dvd(IMPORTED)
Ultimate Jordan(IMPORTED)
The ones that dont work:
MJ to the Max
Spurs 2003 championship dvd
NBA @ 50
I have no idea why the 2003 dvd doesnt work and the 2005 does. Maybe they have improved encoding somehow.
I've got NBA @ 50 (not very good IMHO) but I've got those dynasty sets plus Celtics minus Bulls, so I'm glad they will work & same with Ultimate Jordan....I guess the only way for me to find out is to get it & see what works & what doesn't....sounds like the main ones with the full games work which is the main thing I guess....at least I know now so I'm prepared & thus won't get disappointed....
Matthew wrote:But if you see a cheap second hand xbox 360, you can trade the ps2 in for some games. EB can very sly in their promotions. For example, alot of people got burnt with their "trade in a ps2 or xbox with games and get a cheaper 360". The 360 was the core version, so no hard drive or remote or wireless controller.
damn, those sly bastards....I'd obviously want more than the core version....I noticed at Target there was a XBox360 Pack with King Kong (I'd no doubt trade it in), Silver XBox Live, Gold XBox Live for a month, the remote thing, hard drive, the headset & so on for $689 (EB is advertising $650 but I'm not sure what pack that is, maybe core, who knows)....
Matthew wrote:Theres a 2 for the price of one deal, tony hawk and gun (an old western style game that got decent reviews) for $100. I've never been a big fan of skateboarding games so i cant tell you if its good.
yeah, I've seen that pack, but I'd probably avoid it for now....Tony Hawk just looks like an XBox port with slightly improved graphics....there will no doubt be another one out within the year with better graphics & gameplay....
Matthew wrote:It's such a relaxing game lol. Its like poker for idiots. I love it.

for me UNO was always a game I played when drinking, but is a nice added bonus which I can't see someone like Sony having (I've had Sony PSX & PS2)....
Matthew wrote:Silver is always free, it enables you to do everything but play games online. so you can download games like uno, trailers, roster updates etc. You also get a month free of gold. If you are going to get it, i suggest the starter kit. A year subscription is $80, and that comes in the started kit, but you also get a headset which is invaluable for playing online. But xbox gold is worth it becuase games like halo, and even nba 2k or madden are worth more becuase multiplayer has so much more replay value than single player. But i'll be honest, i dont think $80 a year justifies what it would cost microsoft to run the service, becuase except for ea games its all p2p. With that being said, i'd probably spend $200 a year on it if i had to, becuase it adds so much more to the games.
damn $80....that's sweet bugger all....I've heard about online services wanting like $40 per month & that's just ridiculous, but when you're only talking less than $7 per month, I'd definitely pay that in a heartbeat to lose to you in 2k6 (until I get better of course

)
Matthew wrote:I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the nba 2k always gets released around january here, not early november like nba live. if you get a 360 within the next two months, you'd still have at least 6 months to play it and get your moneys worth. id definately suggest getting nba 2k and halo 2 (i know its an original xbox game, but once you play it on live you'll see how good gaming is) if you do get a 360. Madden is great if you enjoy nfl games, and call of duty 2 is also good.
yeah, if I was to get 360 soon, would definitely get 2k6 (& avoid Live)....probably still get Live '07 for 360 as well as 2k7, provided Live has franchise modes & stuff....
as for Madden, I'd definitely get Madden '07 provided it had all it's franchise mode options back....now I've got ESPN I can finally get back in the gridiron fold....I always enjoyed the game....not as much as the bball titles, but yeah....
will look at getting college titles if 360 can be modded to play NTSC games (not for piracy, I just wanna play the titles that don't make it to PAL)....
cheers Matthew, you've definitely helped out....as you can probably guess, I was heavily leaning towards the 360 anyways, but it's always good to get some unbiased opinions

I'll probably start to look into getting one & try to find the best deal as well as talk to my mate (a true console guy) for further info....
