Yes, DBF editing destroyed my beloved Sonics dynasty. Read that thread for the story, I'd rather not get back into it here. Let's try this again... this time with a more solid presentation. Enter the Cavaliers....
++++++++++++++++

Dynasty Information:
-First season has been simmed (as usual).
-29 game seasons
-7 minute quarters, my sliders
-All games posted played by user, simmed games (if any) will be noted but not recapped.
-No fantasy draft.
-Starting rosters: Andrew's 05-06 Uninjured.
The newest game will always be posted here, in the very first post of the thread. It will also be posted in sequence like is usually done, but I think it will be easier if you can just read the new game here and then reply instead of having to dig through comments to find the game.

Cavaliers vs Celtics

Game recap:
Quarterly recaps will return on my next game posting, I just don't have the time right now.

The Celtics dominated the first quarter (Celtics 25- Cavs 16), but then gave in in the second, and the Cavs dominated that period (Cavs 27, Celtics 17). The same thing happened in the third (Celtics 27- Cavs 20) and fourth quarters (Cavs 38, Celtics 26). This strange inconsistency truly bothers Cavs head coach Mike Brown, as it seems to happen every game.

"Obviously I'm not too upset, because we're 4-1 now with this victory (101-95 final), but it's kind of troubling that we can't play consistent basketball on either end of the floor."

2006-2007
Preseason:

After a disappointing 05-06 season, the Cleveland Cavaliers decided that, this being the final year of Lebron James's contract, they'd better keep him happy and make the future now. Consulting James every step of the way, the team has made some significant changes.

-Cleveland traded an extremely unhappy Zyldrunas Ilgauskas to the Charlotte Bobcats for their upcoming first-round pick (which ended up being #2). Larry Hughes requested that the team trade him, and they found a willing suitor in exchange for mainly cap space.

Image

-They drafted standout shooting guard Liu Cotton with the second pick (from CHA) in the draft, and with the fifth pick (their own), they got lucky and drafted point guard Malik Marshall, who was expected to go no lower than third. And in the second round, they got lucky again- recieving small forward Angelo Craft, who in most opinions should have been a top-20 pick.

Image
Liu Cotton, Angelo Craft, Malik Marshall

-During the free-agent signing period, the team grabbed several extremely talented big men who can all make an immediate impact:

Image

The Cavaliers (and Lebron James) are ecstatic about these big changes, and have high hopes for this year- namely, an NBA championship.

Other offseason changes around the NBA:

The most surprising of the three, obviously, is Miami trading Shaquille O'Neal to New York for Steve Francis (no, I did NOT make this trade happen myself- I'm just as boggled as you are).

I believe if you had actually read anything I posted you would know that. ;) Yes, he is on the team. All I've posted so far is the rookies and the free agents from the summer, that's why his pic wasn't up there yet. (Y)

I'd say very interesting signings and helpful trade to CHA trading away Big Z.
But I don't understand how Cavs could play so terrible and go only 8-21 last season

Cavaliers 0-0 @ Pacers 0-0

Starting Lineups:
Image

First quarterOpening the 2006-2007 NBA season, the Cavaliers came out of the gates on the road in Indianapolis in a huge rush, building a quick 13 point lead in the first quarter. Lebron James scored 18 of the team's incredible 33 first-quarter points. At the end of the first, the Cavs were up 33-22.

Second quarter
Indiana rallied back to outscore the Cavs in the second quarter. Jamaal Tinsley scored 14 of his 31 points in the second quarter alone. Cleveland led by 5 at halftime.

Players at the half:

Third quarter
Image
Jermaine O'Neal started off the second half with a HUGE block against Lebron James (above). This sparked a fantastic third quarter for the Pacers, outscoring the Cavs by nine in the period. Pacers 79, Cavaliers 75 at the end of the third.

Fourth quarter
Whatever magic the Pacers found in the third quarter abandoned them in the fourth- they scored only 12 in the final period, outshined by 30 Cleveland points.

Boxscore:
Image

A bit of a flub towards the middle of the game, but overall Cleveland certainly showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in the league this year. Looks like their moves were smart ones.

Thanks for the comment, Zbo.

Just for clarification-

I will be posting the newest game in the very FIRST post in this thread. Every time I play a new game, it will replace the previous game in the first post. Of course, I will also post it normally (as the newest post in the thread- like everyone else does).

UGH! The Magic traded JAMEER NELSON FOR KEDRICK FUCKING PERKINS?!??!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL FOR FRANCIS? I'm not going to bother looking that this dynasty anymore.

...Just kidding, of course. How can I resist when Eddie Griffin is on your team?

Cavaliers 1-0 vs Jazz 0-2

Roster changes prior to the game:
Image

Cleveland pulled a deal to send unhappy and seldom-used forward Ira Newble (who has become buried on the roster) to Charlotte for Donta Smith, who was immediately released. The move was made to clear a bit of cap room to sign veteran Toni Kukoc to a one-year deal. Kukoc will hopefully fill in a a much-needed sharpshooter on the bench. Barring any unforseen injuries, the team probably won't make any more changes this year.

First quarter
Utah started the game with a huge 13-2 run. But the Cavs called a smart timeout, and came back energized to get a 2 point advantage at the end of the first, 27-25.

Second quarter
The second quarter belonged to Utah. They outscored the Cavs by 6 and outrebounded them by TEN in the period. Twelve of Mehmet Okur's twenty-three points came in the second quarter.

Players at the half:
-screenshot unavailable-
Cavaliers: Lebron James-20 first half points, 6 rebounds
Jazz: Mehmet Okur- 16 first half points, 6 rebounds

Third quarter
Image
That gorgeous dunk by Lebron got the second half off to an exciting start. It was very back-and-forth basketball for most of the third quarter, as the teams mostly traded baskets with not much defense to be seen.

Fourth quarter
Cleveland truly pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Jazz by seven in the final period. Rookie Liu Cotton had 10 of his 17 in the fourth.

Boxscore:
Image

Cleveland wins their second straight of the season, and fans believe this won't be the end of the winning streak.

I just want to thanks to you guys for the comments... and I want you to know that I am honestly enjoying this dynasty. I always (whether I realize it or not), give myself the underdog team in my dynasties and make crappy players perform. But not this time- and I must say that I'm loving having a team that can actually WIN.

I've played the third game, I'll post it in the morning. ;)
