Pippen to Chicago?

Postby Stevan on Thu Jul 03, 2003 12:12 am

What do you guys think? Personally I think it's possible with Johnny Pax running the show, and I would like to see atleast one Bulls' hall of famer finish his career in Chicago. Plus he could actually help! It would make NBA Live more interesting too :D

I think he should finish it there, only if the bulls will be a highly improved team, and not like the past few years.

No, Pippen should end his career in Portland, there he is a real leader. Pippen likes to critize/humiliate too much young guys, in the case of Chicago, Pippen would humiliate those 1st round picks & HSchoolers just like MJ did in Washington, I don't think the Bulls would like that.

In that case & with all the respect Pippen deserves, Pippen is the one who would come from the bench, the Bulls need someone consistent scoring and that's not Pippen but Jalen who can score 20 per game. Pippen coming from the bench would be advantageous so they will have a great player coming from there to keep the game tight, also they can switch Jalen to the PG in some cases (he loves to play that) so Pippen can play more minutes.

would pip be a good pickup? i think so but a lot depends on Pip's mindset.

last year, portland "insert joke here" blazers were clearly a better team when pippen was playing. now if that 'pippen' comes to chicago, then the bulls will benefit greatly. his leadership & offensive/defensive awareness should make his teammates better. better him then rose leading the team...

but if we get the pippen who was houston- selfish and outspoken, then that means trouble.

i'm not even sure Pip wants to come to chicago. i'm guessing he wants to go a championship contending team, which the bulls are not yet. but Pip has said he also would like to go to a team where he can eventually get a job of the management variety. GM Pax hasn't made a stance on that but with Krumbs Krause out, it could be a possibility he could get that job. imagine how pissed Krause would be if this happens...

I seem to remember reading that Pippen would not rule out a return to Chicago with Krause's departure, but I think he's more likely to return to the Blazers or retire. I'd like to see him end his career as a Bull though. :)

I don't see why Pippen and Rose can't play together? They can share the 2 & 3, and Pip can still play a little 1.
So far reports have stated that Paxon would love to have Pippen back in Chicago, but doesn't know yet whether Pip wants to come back, and has said he will call him and ask him.

Grant was released by the Magic last season in a dispute with coach Doc Rivers. He already has made contacts with the Bulls. Both Grant and Pippen privately have expressed interest in returning to their NBA roots. Grant intends to play one more season. Though he's probably not more than a 15- to 20-minute player, he long has been regarded as one of the most fundamentally sound defensive big men in the NBA and could help Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler.

And with Jerry Krause gone, the door is open to celebrate the traditions the Bulls established in the 1990s that often were ignored because of the ex-GM's poor relationships with so many players.

Forget Michael Jordan. He wanted Krause's job, and probably Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf's as well. He transcends an organization, which was clear in Washington.

The Bulls have Paxson, Bill Cartwright and B.J. Armstrong from the 1990s teams on staff. It's time to open the door to two of the major contributors in the Bulls' rise to prominence. Pippen and Grant could teach the young kids how to win. Perhaps roles in the organization could be found for both in the future.

Man it really makes you wonder how much of an asshole Jerry Krause is that these guys would now be considering comming back after he has left. I wouldn't mind seeing them back. I thought Grant was done. But these guys deserve a goodbye tour and even with plenty of power forwards, you can use Horace at centre. They deserve a farewell tour after their contributions, and the thought of seeing both those guys back in a bulls uni brings chills (y)
