Battle of the Fowards
Amare knew that tonight's match was going to be a tough one. He was going up against one of the most dominate Power Fowards in the league, Dirk Nowitzki.
In the 1st Qtr it was fairly even with both teams having the lead at somepoint. The score ended 28-31 in favour of the Suns with Nowitzki being one of the main standouts.
Amare was pleased with his performance in the first scoring 9 points.

When the 2nd started Steve Nash was dominating with his assists and his passing providing the Suns with a handy lead, but the Mavericks were not done. Amare went off for a while and his replacement Grant showed what he knew getting alot of boards for his team.
He finished off with a game high 12 rebounds just infront of Nowitzki with 11.
At the half Dallas had crawled there way back and Phoenix were in front by only 1 point with the score ending 63-62.

The Player at the half was Dirk Nowitzki with his amazing 23 points.
In the 3rd it was a low scoring Qtr, with it finishing 26-25 in favour of the Suns. Amare knew that the last Qtr would be tough and that Nowitzki wouldn't give up.
He realised that Nash was on 5 fouls and was in danger of being fouled out which would be bad news for the Suns.

Five minutes into the 4th and it most certainly was bad news with Nash recording his 6th foul and being fouled out. That didn't stop Amare doing what he does best and scoring under pressure.
There was 2 minutes left and Amare really wanted the win. They were down by 3 points and he stepped up and made the three point play that tied it at 124-124. Dallas were in possesion with the ball, but Terry had thrown a bad pass that went out of bounds.
Amare recieved the ball and passed it to Shawn Barbosa who was open to knock down the 3 pointer and give the Suns the lead with only a few seconds left.
Nowitzki recieved the ball and tried to tie the game up with a half court shot, but it missed and Phoenix record their first win of the season with the Player of the Game going to A.Stoudemire.
Amare who scored a game high 48 points was really in a battle with Nowitzki who scored 36 points. They were both point leaders for their teams.
This really was really a battle of the Fowards, but Amare came out victorious.
