2006 World Cup Video Games

EA Sports released his FIFA World Cup 2006 demo, when the guys from SoccerAccess released their PES5 World Cup 2006 patch, a first update for it with some fixes, and a soundtrack for it (with songs from Zucchero, Oasis, U2...)

I have both and let me say that they are great.

that has to be one of the worst demos i have ever played, i expected alot better but then again it is Fifa.
There's hardly any options to choose from, you can't change the detail settings and you can't even set up your controller
I remember playing the full version of the '02 world cup game and the game was quite good. The full version of '06 might actually turn out to be a great game but im not impressed by the demo

U can change the resolution.

Go to the shortcut... click on it with the right mouse button..

u see the next line:
"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\2006 FIFA World Cup (TM) Demo\FIFAWC06DEMO.exe"

Change this to

"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\2006 FIFA World Cup (TM) Demo\FIFAWC06DEMO.exe" RESOLUTION=1024x768x32

U can also use the resolution 1280x1024.

I hope u understand cuz i cant speak that good english

You shouldn't be expecting anything big from EA (aka The Godfather, NBA LIVE series...), never. And if they do something good in future, now, that will be surprise.

so has anyone had a chance to get a full version of fifa 06 world cup yet? i read the review on gamespot and it seemed like it was an excellent game. there isnt a shot meter, when you press shoot, it is all up to what position your in (ie. lotta pressure from defenders = more than likely poor release, clear cut breakaway = huge blast through the top corner of the net), and theres also not just the teams that qualified for the finals. Theres like 95 teams in total and you can lead a team through the qualifying rounds and stuff. I might rent it over the weekend to try.

On a side note, for the current era systems (ps2, xbox, gc etc.), does fifa 06 (NOT THE WOLRD CUP VERSION) include anything about the World Cup?

EA always does better games for consoles. Compare PC's Live 06 graphics with XBox 360 or GameCube's... they rock. Or games like Street series (NBA, FIFA, NFL).

FIFA World cup is the shiznit kiddos. I got the game today and I am already hooked. The little tweaks to gameplay are really nice and I love the football atmosphere. Later, I'm gone back to playing it.

I rented FIFA World Cup 2006 game (or whatever its called, just not the normal FIFA 06 version) and its very good. I played World Cup 2002 and this absolutely blows it out of the water. Not only has the gameplay changed (obviously) to like how it is in FIFA 06, but its very deep with the amount of teams and good depth. I am currently trying to taken Canada through the qualifiers into the World Cup finals  .

Well I am surprised that FIFA World Cup is actually a pretty good game and significantly better than the demo. It's still a bit too fast (on normal speed anyhow), but they got a lot of things right.

I also realized that the "NEW Controls" or whatever basically PLAGIARIZE winning. Oh man, I laughed so hard when they basically copied the controls from Winning Eleven!! L button now changes players (a departure from pass button changing players), and acts as the "modifier" button, just like Winning Eleven.

Anyhow, I'm impressed. I'm currently doing world cup qualifying and crushing all the Asian teams using Korea.
Bored.

I tend to buy world cup games after the world cup because if Croatia loses, I can always get them to world cup glory

I can't deal with FIFA after being introducted to PES/Winning Eleven a few years ago. The series is a pure addiction, and you can download option files on PESFan (Watson's, in particular) that allow you to replicate the World Cup. It's a truly fantastic game - WE9 should be available for PC in the US in a matter of days.
