The Sims 2+expansion packs and all that mess

Postby Ruff Ryder on Mon Apr 17, 2006 12:52 pm

Yea I know I'm a little late on this, but I was wondering if anyone here are Sims gamers. I own the original one, but never got any expansion packs for it. I recently "got" the Sims 2, no expansion packs or anything, but before I get there, I have some questions.

1.) Does anybody know any good patching sites? For free patches, I've visited a few but most require some kind of payment for access to everything.
-a.) Does anyone patch the sims here or know of programs I can use?

2.) What exactly does an expansion pack do? Do you get to use your own family from the regular sims in the expansion packs? Are the packs add-ons, like University for instance. In University, do you just start out creating a sim and putting them in a dorm or can you go from having a teenage sim to them graduating HS and going to college? Like, is it possible to have the same family/story in all the expansion packs intertwined?

Ok, I got 2 expansion packs for The Sims 2.

The expansion packs;

The Sims 2 University: Adds new objects. If your a child and still going to school and then when you turn into a teenager you have the oppurtunity to go into university and study subjects. You can choose different Majors (eg. Drama Major, which may help you in various career oppurtunities). You also do Sophomore and all that stuff.
Once you've finished it you will go back home, or move into a place and you will have get better job offers, and it will be easier to get promoted.

The Sims 2 Nightlife: Adds new objects. You have the oppurtunity to build your own garage, have your own car (which is pretty cool) There is a new Aspiration called the Pleasure Life Aspiratin. You can play the dating game where you can find a match and connect with a longing gaze. There is this women which you can give money to and she will bring you a women or man to get to know better and possibly fall in love. I once gave the women $1 and she gave me one of those women bums that stink and she's got dirty clothes, so the more money you give her the better type of women/man you will get.

Hope this helped (Y)

sims 2 is heaps better than the first one, and it can be seriously addictive... especially with the facial creation system and dna's... but due to my ancient pc hardware I will miss this one as well (Y)

Here's a huge link collection. It's in german, so allow me to explain:

The sites that are bold are the ones which are especially recommended. Those which are red are sites that don't work or aren't updated anymore, I forget what it was.

You will find everything you need there. Have fun! :D

With all the Sims 2 games...you'd need a whole different hard drive for installations. I didn't play sims 1 & 2 for more than 10 minutes before i got bored.

I couldn't imagine playing the sims on a hand-held. That'd be rediculous.

There's actually a third expansion pack , "The Sims 2 Open for Business". Before my laptop was sent in for repair I was selling stuff out of my Sim House in the yard to passerby. In my opinion , OfB is the best of all 3 expansion packs since you can hire employees and conduct business operations like finding your income , customer loyalty , etc. I'm told you can also build your own restaurant in a downtown-like venue so it would be interesting to set up shop. Those lots , though , are super-expensive. I'm the second richest family in my neighborhood and I can't even afford one of those lots. They are 70,000 ish.
