lol yeah, I have friends there... the tradition (at least for engineering) is to buy one of their super expensive leather coats and pretty much destroy the shit out of them. I can live with purple, though. Go Raptors!

asdf - yeah, grade 11 is INTENSE compared to grade 10. I think it might have been worse than grade 12.

I'm hoping grade 11 won't be too bad for me; I'm taking Outdoor Ed. and Basketball (yes, a course of entirely basketball), and English this summer.

I can remember my grade 11 classes... I had, like, math, music, computers, bio, chem, english, physics, history... that was a tough year.

I'll have math, chem, physics, religion (damn catholic schools! j/k), french (french immersion) computer science, outdoor ed. and basketball. I don't think it'll be too hard.

Mofo, I forgot to mention that co-op is the best thing you can do (especially if you stay an extra year so you have room for it and all your pre-reqs). I've co-opped at the local Pharmacy this year and it's given me an insight into the job, conversations with countless different pharmacists all with different backgrounds and advices (and positive reviews of the career might I add), as well as a part time job (which will become almost fulltime in the summer) once my coop was over. Mostly though, it's given me a career path and plan in life where before I didn't have one. There's no greater feeling than knowing exactly what you want to do - it's like I'm set for the next many years. Coop is excellent.

Thank goodness you told me this, one of my cousins said that it wasnt exactly the best thing i could have chosen, saying it was crap, so I had my doubts. My parents didnt know ANYTHING about coop so this decision was made basically almost entirely on my own. Good thing there was someone that had already taken this previously to give me a quick idea of the experience. Thanks .

Mofo, co-op is a great thing to do. Not only do you get the experience - and maybe decide it's not the right thing to do, without wasting money on university courses - but it looks great on a uni/college application, or a resume, and like Cam said, you will most likely end up with a part time job there afterwards.

As long as the placement makes sense for you, and gives you a guideline of something you either WANT or Don'T want to do when you get older (so it is not just a fill of time) then it is DEFINITELY worth it. I would recommend it to anyone. Out of all things that happened to me in this second year of grade 12, coop has really been the positive thing.

Cable Guy, that year sounds pretty decent, actually. My friend (the one with the beatup jacket)'s last semester of grade 12 was physics, chem, bio, and calc. I really felt bad for him lol

EDIT - Oh yeah, I forgot the resume part. It looks so great, and I mean, I can pretty much get hired with the same job at any pharmacy, especially since my boss has recently been promoted to regional manager. I have so many buy-ins it's crazy.

asdf, 11th grade is by far the hardest year.... everything up to it is really just taking the easy required courses, but if you're going to take upper level ones, 11th grade is when you get most of them in... 12th grade is easier for most people (at least in my school) because we dont have to fill our senior schedule out if we have all our credits. I went ahead and filled out my schedule all the way through though.....

Most people I've been around have said grade 11 is so hard, but I haven't found it too bad this year. My average this year has been about 87 (86 is an A), and my worst marks in the last two terms last term were still the best marks in my class (Math and Video Production, a bit below 80). I don't think it's the work that's that much harder (polynomials in math are a bitch, atomic theory in chem, and dynamics in physics are the only places I struggled) and as long as you just doa quick review of all the things you do in a day you should be fine.

I've found the best way to keep us to utilize the time I get at lunch to do review and homework. I'm not holed up in the library every lunch period, but it does come in handy.

SAT... omfg MCAS in 10th grade (required to pass high school), and SATs made my life fuckin hell in 10th and 11th grade... goddamn it.

Queen's is (I think) only 2 hours from Toronto or so. About halfway in between where I am, and Toronto. I might end up goinng there for Pharmacy but I think I'd rather Waterloo - Toronto is very expensive to live in and is incredibly huge. In 2 weeks though we are going to Wonderland as part of physics so I'll give you my scouting report

Holy shit I was driving to take my SATs and just right outside the school, I rear-ended this stupid minivan in front of me (who knew minivans could stop on a dime?). When we pulled into the parking lot, the driver came out and it was a girl that went to my school.

I guess the SATs are more for public schools and ACT for private. All of the University of California schools require the SAT I and SAT II. No ACTs for UCs.

if you think you're gonna wind up at Toronto or Waterloo, I'd try to get into those schools first. Transferring schools is a bitch. (at least in the U.S. it is)

If I can do that without even trying, most of you should be able to get a B average or more if you put a little effort into it.

American high school is so easy. You basically have to show up and you'll pass. And if you get a cool or nice teacher they will give you a bunch of extra credit if you do bad on a test or a project. It's pretty damn easy.

Like someone else said you can take it as many times as you want if you willing to pay for the testing over and over. But it has Math (60 questions), Reading (40 questions), English (75) and Science (40) at least for the ACT. They've also added an essay part, but you don't have to take it.

I don't need that much education to do what I want to do in life. High School doesn't concern me because anyone gets accepted into the military with a diploma and community college. Those are the two places where I will do my studies in after high school.

Yea I take Honors and planning on taking some AP classes next year. It's not as easy in those types of classes than it isi n Standard. I don't get ALOT of homework though, but I wouldn't really say it is really hard, but its about average to me.
