i tryed hard to write this article!
Well,I think every true Iverson fan has seen him dunk in person or in video.He shure can dunk.Althought he is only 6 feet tall,he can slam the ball in no time.He's vertical leap is 40 inches and with it,he is one of the greatest dunkers to watch.Most of his greatest dunks came in his rookie season when he was even invited to participate in the Nestle Crunch Slam Dunk Contest but had to miss it due a injury.Still,he left a mark in the 1996-97 All-Star Game by participating in the Schick Rookie Challenge where he made one of the greatest dunks in the Schick Rookie Challenge history.He got a lob from Marcus Camby and slammed it in above the rim.In his last couple of seasons he hasn't made so many dunks.If he is going to the basket all alone he has often layd it instead of dunking it but it may be the injures what are bothering him.Still,he has made some beautiful slams like the putback slam in his second NBA season and the alley-oop slam from Eric Snow in 1999-2000.But being one of the shortest players in the NBA,he can really dunk in good.Now,about the dunks.Most often he slams it with two hands.It seems to be his favorite dunk,because very often you see him do that.He also seems to like the one handed slam what he did mostly in his rookie season. He has also slammed home some alley-oop lobs and missed shots.These two types for a 6 footer are most amasing.So little guy can catch the ball in the air and then slam it home.I mean if he is 6 feet tall,he probably has little hands and this makes it very hard to catch the ball.Some 6-footers can't even tough the basket but Iverson can do it and he will keep doing it.

I have a friend who's about 179 and he can dunk....does that make him a better slam dunker than any NBA player just because of his hight...?
Dunkintg itself is overrated...it's the most useless aspect of the game...it's 99% show.....very rarely you find a situation in which a player has better chances of scoring the ball when unking it....plus like Kidd there said, dunkig provokes injuries......i'm not saying that i don't like to watch dunks...hell, the slam dunk contest is me favorite part of the all star weekend....but being able to "slam dunk" doesn't improve the players skill...it doesn't make him better......
In conclusion....Iverson shouldn't dunk, since it;s an idiotic pointless risk for him....plain and simple....

i am cock-sure that dunking isn t a 99.9 %show.if you dunk with power it is definetly basket.

A dunk is two points and a layup is 2 points. They are essentially the same thing, but a dunk is showcasing athleticism....

I heard that he and Mugsy could touch the rim easely but not dunk yet, I dont know if thats true but thats what Ive heard 
but I agree that dunking is overrated, its for entertainment. well, maybe for guys like Shaq or the younger Hakeem it was better to dunk it, but Im pretty sure that the NBA players have a bigger chance of hitting a simpel lay-up then a fancy dunk

thats true but if you are big man(center)you have easier to dunk the ball,usually with power,it is useful you may go to free-throw line!

In some ways, the dunk can do more than the layup. If someone on the home team makes a nice dunk, then it gets the crowd more into the game, and is a good way in starting and stopping runs. If a player on the away team makes a nice dunk then it silences the crowd dramatically, especially if they're getting really loud and riled up. It might only be worth only two points, but in a way, its worth more than just a simple layup.

and also- i think if someone is able to dunk on a player who is known for being a good shot blocker, i think it will give other players confidence in attacking the basket as well. and also it will make the shot blocker guy think twice about attempting to block shots by that player.

He's a really good dunker considering height (that one on top of Camby was great) I just wish I knew what basketball was in 96. But that's just a by-product of living up in Canada, eh.
I really wish I had that ish of slam, my subscription ran out that issue, and my re-subscription wasn't processed fast enough (even though I sent it in 3 months before hand

A dunk, layup and anything else inside the three point line all count for two points, but the dunk is a high percentage shot. Take away the entertainment factor, and you still have a shot that is an effective way of putting the ball in the basket. Dunks can be missed, dunks can be blocked, but a simple dunk is a high percentage shot.

Speaking of SLAM, they are a great bball mag, but so slow to the point... Issues longed for months before arriving at my house here in Brazil... I also tried to renew my subscription long before it was over, but no, I ended up missing 3 issues every time it happened... Dang.

That's weird, mine come a month before the actual month, ie. June 2003 came at the beginning of May. But the stores get their Slams about 2 weeks earlier. How long you subscribed for? I've been since number 49, whenever that was.

wow! 40 inches, where did u hear that from? I'd like to know so i can see VJ of other players too. Francis jumps that high too. jeez I didn't know AI could get up that high.
Yes! I've seen some dunks by AI, and they are nice! Casue of his height doesn't mean he is good, his dunk quality is what does. And he has nice Dunks!!
About dunk or layup. If u drive at a Defender D.L. in the no charge zone, and hit him and go for And1 it's easier to go for dunk. why?
because if u try to layup u have to think about it too much. u have to slw down to make it, and to stop before ur under rim completely. plus u can lose ur balance and momentum too easily when laying up. whereas when u go for the dunk, there is only one thing to worry about, sticking it in. Ur momentum should be enough to not knock u off balance when u hit the Defender. u don't have to look and think about the layup, and don't worry bout underrim thing, becasue if ur under rim u got the ball over rim, and most likely in.
