They didn't trade him, they waived him from the team.

Another article posted on RealGM..

Kareem Rush disputed the perception that basketball isn't a passion and that he is lazy in an e-mail to the Observer Saturday night: "As for my work ethic being questioned, I feel people mistake my calm demeanor for a lack of effort, which is not the case."

Good move. Rush has been an absolutely terrible player. He had one good playoff game and everyone suddenly thinks he's some kind of star. When in reality he was one of the worst two guards in the league since he entered it.

The guy was dead weight, they should've never signed to him that extension to begin with.

"Great scorer"? He was a lousy scorer.

If he had attitude problems. All the more reason to get rid of him.

he has got good outside shooting though. have not been watching him playing, but after reading the posts here, i have a better idea.

anyway, if he changed his attitude, he can be a good pick for teams next year which want outside shooting.

how about detroit. just joking. :D

More than 2,000 miles away and a couple of years removed, Jackson was still feeling protective of Kareem Rush after the former Laker guard was unceremoniously waived Saturday by the Charlotte Bobcats.

Bobcat General Manager/Coach Bernie Bickerstaff released a terse statement in which he said, "The Bobcats are about two things — hard work and maximum effort. With that in mind, we think that it is best to go in a different direction with Kareem."

Jackson was "very surprised."

"I thought it was vindictive," he said. "I didn't like to see it because it's one of the guys that we nurtured here. He was contributing to us a lot in the [run to the NBA Finals] two years ago.

"There's, what, eight games left in the season? You could do that probably April 30, or whenever the season's over if you put him on the inactive list."

Jackson explored the possibility of acquiring Rush before the season but declined to comment on whether the Lakers would try to sign him during the off-season.

I'm sure a playoff bound team will pick him up if possible. He'll love to prove Bickerstaff wrong on his decision.

The Lakers should pick him up now because other teams might try to get him. Maybe he can develop into Kobe's sidekick?

haha it WAS the Lakers that didn't want him in the first place. He was originally a 1st round pick and was dumped on the cats for a 2nd round pick. (Which sounds strikingly similar to Jumaine Jones's situation)

oh and Kobe will never have a sidekick. it's not possible.

I think that was mostly hype surrounding his performance in the 2004 Western Conference Finals. As for their reasons for cutting him loose, I think they've already been deduced. He's not a terrible player, you don't average double digits in scoring playing around half of each game by accident. But any "next Kobe Bryant" talk was very much jumping the gun.

No team will pick him up, there's like less than 10 games left for many teams! If a team wants him, they will make a run at him in the offseason. In realtion to why Rush was cut, althoguh it is still unclear, I did read that he didn't really care much about whether he played for the Bobcats next season. Everytime he was asked about if he was staying, he'd just say he didn't know and didn't care or something.
