Technical fouls....

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

I'm skeptical about technical fouls making their way into the game though. The NBA really likes to preserve its image, and EA have mentioned before that it's highly unlikely technicals will be implemented in NBA Live. Still, times change, so you never know.

We need realistic, dude!

I understand how technical fouls might add realism to the game - as long as they aren't too numerous (you didn't see too many games with there's 10 unsportsmanlike technicals called). But I'm being realistic when I say it's unlikely we'll see them for a while - EA have more or less said they're not keen to put unsportsmanlike technicals in the game.

Besides, it's still possible to have realism without having technicals in the game. :)

i know i know IM NEW EVERYONE!! yeah but anyways, what i think would be cool is if for instance, your team is struggling during a game, then there should be a way to argue or get a tech and this would give your players a boost of energy and they would play with more desire.

They should have a flair rating where if your player is real high in this rating- if hes goin cold, or is picking up fouls or ur team is doin' shit or it's a very tense situation (eg. losing by 1 with 10 secs left, then the comp or you could make him lash out on the next call, timeout or somethin.

Also it would be up to the ref if u get a technical or a warning. There should be more injuries for the user...now there is none! And speaking of refs, there should be good refs, bad refs and the team can hire refs and let the game send them to other games but you don't meet your ref in any game!

The problem with that idea is that it would end up being too random - you would likely pick up too many technicals too often, which isn't realistic either. I think the best way it could be implemented would be to allow the player to choose to argue with the referee.

don't think basketball video games need technical fouls, it isn't needed, cause the only people who might get them are rasheed wallaces, ron artest etc. besides, I don't know how they'll work it out to get coaches and players to argue with the reefs, plus if it's randomly, they could get it at bad times, like near the end of games especially close ones!

there i don´t agree. if you take a look at boxscores of important games (not the finals as much though) you can see that tech´s are quite frequent and are not only committed by a handful of players.

and the calling should not be randomly. you should actually be able to argue to the ref. according to the situation, the reputation and experience of the player, the referee and stuff like that a t should be called or not.

me personally thinks technical fouls are important option in the game. someone losing their cool could change the flow of a game such pump up a team, or play terribly . its just another factor needed in the that makes it exciting. trashing talking too. just think of trash talking someone out of their game its part sim basketball

What happend to Zo???

And Temper would be a good stat.. It could improve or decrease how well you were playing... Like Vince Carter in the 2000 Olympics in the Practise match against Australia... He went PHSYCHO (And rightfully so, Andrew Gaze so OBVIOUSLY ATTACKED him) and he played crap and got bood all game... Even though it wasn't him that did anything...

Zo hasn't played in two of the last three years (he didn't play at all in the 2002/2003 season) due to a kidney condition that's been bothering him since 2000.

A Temper rating would probably make things too random though. These things tend to be overdone in Live, so a player with a high Temper rating would probably be picking up a technical every game. As far as I'm aware, no one's ever been T'd up more than about 40 times in the regular season

I say they should put a special one just for Ron Artest!
On a serious note, I like the idea. Like if there's a close call between a charge or a blocking foul then maybe whoever the foul is called on should argue or what not.
