October 7th 2005- Richard Burberry was named the new General Manager of the Portland Trailblazers.

October 10th 2005- Richard Burberry and Nate McMillan discuss the future of the Portland Trailblazers. In the debate with the rest of the boardroom, Mr. McMillan is told what is expected from him. Nate McMillan then expressed his gratitude for allowing him the opportunity of staying of terminating his contract if he was not happy with the new General Managers Policy.

October 11th 2005- Nate McMillan decides that he wishes too continue as Portland’s Head Coach.

October 12th 2005- Former Euroleague Scout Kris Barrors (41) has decided too use his vast knowledge of European Basketball at Portland. He signed a lucrative deal with Portland for three years worth a total of $1.20m over the duration.

October 15th 2005- Unproven 44 year old Oba Tamale will take on his first senior role in the NBA by becoming the Portland Trailblazers new Offensive co-ordinator/Coach at a salary of $1.02m, also giving him an option of extending it at the end of the year.

October 21st 2005- 50 year old Clarence Preston agrees too become the Portland Trailblazers new Defensive Coach in a transaction set too make him $2.44m over a three year period.

Portland Trailblazers Training Camp begins. Portland Sends Rookie Guards Jarrett Jack, Sergei Monia, Martell Webster as well as the recovering TJ Ford too the Las Vegas Summer Camp.

39 year old Trainer Phillip Oyekanmi decides too continue hes contribution too the Portland Trailblazers by resigning for an extra two years at his current salary.

October 25th 2005 – Las Vegas Summer Camp set returns and resumes training with the rest of the squad.

October 27th 2005- Richard Burberry and Nate McMillan contract 44 year old Nweke Garnett as the teams’ new Assistant Coach. In a deal set too be worth a potential $2.90m offer three years.

October 28th 2005- Unrestricted Free Agent Scott Padgett signs for the Portland Trailblazers for $2.10m

October 30th 2005- The Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trailblazers agree to exchange Corey Maggette & Cash (undisclosed amount) for Shareef Abdur-Rahim & Juan Dixon, Respectively.

October 31st 2005- Corey Maggette arrives from Los Angeles to Portland amidst frenzy for what the Portland Trailblazers fans regard as the teams new All-Star Guard. Fans and local media praise Maggette’s contribution to the Clippers organisation hoping the new “Drexler” can perform the way he did in L.A.



November 1st 2005- Nate McMillan selects his opening squad for the start of the season.

Game Day- Minnesota Timberwolves versus Portland Trailblazers 19.30

First Quarter

With Corey Maggette eagerly watching from the sidelines, Darius Miles started off the Trailblazers decent by accidentally giving Ricky Davis the ball on which he capitalized with a monster throw down that sent the Target Center into rapture. The Timberwolves continued their strong demeanour on offence with Kevin Garnett grabbing two offensive rebounds and converting one of them while dishing the other out too team-mate Marko Jaric, who converted the three point shot. Jaric was not finished there he added a further two lay-ups too give the T-Wolves a four point lead ending the first quarter.

Second Quarter

The Trailblazers playbook must off been lost in translation as they woefully failed to execute sloppy play. The big Dutchman Dan Gradzuric could not find the white stuff nor his fellow compatriots forcing Telfair into unforced turnovers repeatedly before he was eventually benched while McMillan’s blood boiled. While Telfair suffered for a moment Minnesota’s backup Point Guard Troy Hudson showed no fear exploiting this, comfortably earning himself 2 steals and 10 points in the space of three minutes. Even Mark Madsen looked good, dunking on a dazed Travis Outlaw who would soon return the favor. Marko Jaric cooled off for a moment only for him too be unnecessarily double-team that resulted in frequent trips too the line due too Minnesota being in the bonus.

Third Quarter

Entering the third quarter Minnesota went into overdrive as Marko Jaric ran off screens and took advantage of his height discrepancy over Sebastian Telfair. Portland began too play with more consistency, scoring wise thanks to the run and gun antics of Telfair and Ford. This may have only been in direct result that there was nobody on Minnys defence as they where all routing the Trailblazers net themselves. This indirect result meant none of teams where playing D except Telfair who kept plugging away at Minnesota inferior ball carriers.

Fourth Quarter

The Fourth quarter intended big changes for the Trailblazers who subbed in Marcus Fizer too play the remainder of the game scoring 9 points in 10 minutes, the type of offensive production the Blazers could of done with at the start of the game. Minnesota fielded a weak line-up for the majority of the fourth quarter, but how their benchers shone. With Ndubi Ebi driving down the lane too fight off any late surges by the Trailblazers with an emphatic athletic display.

bad loss keep it up though

Nice first game, get a feel for the chemistry of the team and who to start and who not to start speaking of which...start Maggette at SG not Miles. Miles is very versatile but he can't shoot to save his life. Maggette on the other hand is versatile and can shoot the ball well. Other than that, this is good. I'll be watching closely.
