How bout this??

Mon Jun 02, 2003 2:04 pm

What do you guys think of having a Momentum Bar and the faster you run the higher the bar fills. If you run at full speed and shoot, the shot will have less chance of going in (of course there shot be a new animation for that type of shot).

And certain players can perform better crossovers than others when this bar is up and some players will lose the ball depending on their ball handling skills.
Also I think this should affect how hard fouls occur, for example, if you run at a player at full speed and foul him, it could result in a flagrant and this relates to the "Suspensions" topic that was posted earlier. And this bar should determine dunks and layups depending on how high the bar is filled.
Post some thoughts.

No more bars... The players run as fast as they run and play as they play. There should be hidden stats or somesort of shot package for these things like a running shot! Take Nick Van Exel for example, he just drops incredible shots of the run, but I couldn't think of Steve Nash doing the same.

Pressure handling is the other thing you were talking about. There is already the Clutch hidden stat for that (I hope they didn't take it out) and there should be some sort of panic rating too, to handle the situation when he's surrounded by three guys.

No meters or anything of a sort should be added to the game. I don't want an arcade game and most of the people on these boards will agree with me.

The clutch rating hasn't been in the game since NBA Live 2001, as a hidden rating or otherwise. Perhaps Live 2004 will see its return though.

Maybe you're right Metsis, but I'm going based on the last two NBA Live games. I think they initially tried to make them simulations but FAILED MISERABLY! And who said more bars make the game less of a sim.

I also want to know if they will implement the clear path foul at any time soon, I mean it has been a rule for 2 seasons already.

Actually, it's been around a lot longer than that (although the amendment that the player doesn't need to be in the frontcourt is a fairly recent change to the rule). Good looking out though, it should be in the game. (Y)

Yeah, they don't lose the ball at all... I mean, Patrick Ewing does a crossover and NOT have it stolen???

I mean, I have seen him do a windmill slam in Traffic... But a 7' player who can crossover through traffic and is NOT names Dirk Nowitski.. Or Kevin Garnett... I doubt it

Most centres will lose control of the ball if you try to perform a Freestyle move and their ratings aren't good enough to pull off the move. That's in Simulation mode, if you have the game set to Arcade you can do anything with anybody.

Can't do freestyle on Keyboard.

Was Simulation adn Arcade supposed to be switched in 2003???

In 99 having arcade let you jump like 40 meters above the rim.. There doesn't seem to be much difference in 2003...

Arcade puts all the rules off and thats it????

Arcade and Simulation mode being switched was just a rumour. The difference between Arcade and Simulation is, as I mentioned, the ability to perform crossovers and so forth with all players, regardless of their dribbling ratings.

Arcade mode also turns fouls and other rules off by default, but you can play Arcade style with all rules on - but you'll still be able to pull off all the moves with any player. That's the difference.

So basically no point really. Unless you're into freestyle...

But in Sim mode, Patric Ewing did a X-Over... Crazy!
