Promises for Lent?

Postby peaches on Thu Mar 02, 2006 9:59 pm

Since its now Lent, in school we had to think of some promises that we have to keep during Lent and most of them included cutting back on something.

Heres what i chose:

-No answering back to teachers
-Wash dishes and help parents with chores
-Cut back on swearing

Has anyone chose anything? Has anyone ever kept one?

I wasn't even aware people had to make promises during lent. I thought these promises and "resolutions" only happened during New Year's Eve / New Year's day.

I guess I learned something new today.

The 40 weekdays from Ash Wednesday until Easter observed by Christians as a season of fasting and penitence in preparation for Easter.

I've kept all those since my early teen years, though swearing varies depending who I'm with. If I'm with Legend, then yes, a lot of swearing is the norm.

Good on ya Matt (Y)

I would like to do that one day. You can only get positives for that shit. (more outside time, more excercise, etc.)

One day i'd like to give up NLSC for a while  I'd probably exercice more. Drinking + sitting + posting can take its toll after a good bunch of months... hahaha.

Note to self: Vagina.

I had no idea such a thing existed, but if I did celebrate this occasion then I guess my resolution would be to clean out my room or something stupid like that.

Yes , we do, it's 'The Great Fast'. Although almost nobody actually fasts for 40 days, and the promises thing is not part of our tradition.
