Billups, Hunter to Lakers
Supposed 'bust' Kwame Brown goes to Detroit for Finals MVP Chauncey Billups

Lindsay Hunter and Chauncey Billups, both excellent defensive point guards for Detroit, were traded today to the LA Lakers to make room for Kwame Brown and Von Wafer. Brown was picked at #1 overall in 2001, yet has failed to live up to the expectations of such a high pick so far. Von Wafer, a rookie picked at 39th overall with the Lakers second pick.

The Lakers were only too happy to accept this trade, saying "We were excited to be able to have Kwame (Brown) play for us this season, but when someone offers you possibly the best PG in the game for Brown, you just have to accept."

This is yet another chapter in Detroits book this offseason, the book so far filled with bad decisions, crazy management changes and trades that make picking Sam Bowie in front of Jordan look good.

Cyan McNamara was unavailable for comment, the first time since chosen as the new Detroit GM that he has chosen to keep his mouth shut. Could he possibly be regretting the decision?

Carlos Arroyo will now be the starting PG for Detroit.
Lindsay Hunter will be out for a large portion of the season with a sprained ankle.

I still think you shoulda gone for Penny instead...

Probably couldn't handle his contract in the cap though...

Prince Traded to Toronto
With this trade comes the last player who was previously in the Pistons starting 5

Yet another trade happened today in Detroit. Tayshaun Prince, who averaged 14.7points, 5.3 rebounds and 3 assists last season was traded today to the Toronto Raptors for 6'11" PF/C Rafael Araujo. Araujo averaged 3.1rebounds and 3.3points in his rookie season.

When asked why he would trade an established player for a young and upcoming sophomore, McNamara once again responded with an answer that asks more questions that answers. "Prince was ok... I guess, but in Tayshaun's first season he only averaged 1.1rebounds, whereas Araujo averaged 3.1rebounds. Going by this, Araujo is three times a better rebounder than Prince, and we will definately be needing rebounds this season."

At this press conference, the media was also able to enquire about the trade that sent Billups to the Lakers, as McNamara was unavailable when this trade was announced. "Well Billups was picked at what, third overall? Kwame Brown was picked at number one. We are basically getting two extra picks for nothing! Hunter was picked higher than Wafer, but Hunter is old and injured... Von is nice and young, and can be moulded anyway I want."

With only two weeks left until the first game of the fresh season, everyone can only wonder what trades Detroit will be involved in prior to the seasons start.

New Detroit Team gets Shut Out
After so many trades, the new Pistons lineup loses by a large margin to Phoenix.

Detroit
Points: O'Neal, 17
Rebounds: O'Neal, 7
Assists: Arroyo, 8

Phoenix
Points: Nash, 39
Rebounds: Marion, 16
Assists: Diaw, 4

Darko Milicic started only his third game, and scored 15 points with 3 rebounds and 2 blocks. Unfortunately, his performance was the only one that shone from Detroit in their first game for the season.

The new Pistons team was shuffled around during the offseason, so much so that the starting line-up is completly difference, and only a handful of players still remain at Detroit from last season.

Phoenix played a superior game, the reigning MVP Steve Nash ran the floor and decided the win singlehandedly, the highpowered offence with Marion and Amare was too good for Detroit to handle.

Player of the Game
Steve Nash
39 points
3 rebounds
2 assists
1 steal

Wow man, really hard loss.

Fri Feb 24, 2006 12:33 am

well guess thats what happenes most of the time when you scramble a team like that lol

Sat Feb 25, 2006 9:22 pm

Damn, bad luck

I hate steve nash, hes too short, pavel should have owned him hard.

On a more serious note... Nash scores way too much in live, scores way less in real life.

Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:14 am

Hahaha, good (bad) dynasty.

Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:44 am

I applaud your trades. Making the team harder to use is a lot better than breezing through the season.
