PS2 problem

Postby air_edwards23 on Mon Feb 20, 2006 9:49 am

yesterday i was playing live and then i turned it off. Today i turn my ps2 back on but now when its trying to read the disc its making this sound as if its breaking the disc and i had tried all my games and none of them worked. Can some one explain to me what this is?

It's fried. I think it's something with the laser. If I'm not mistaken The G.O.A.T. and Andrew (to name a few) have had the problem.

No use fixing it, chuck it out or sell it to a P...nevermind.

Sony charges and arm and a leg just to look at it without any guarantee of fixing or replacing it...well, here in Australia anyway. It was cheaper for me to replace it with a PS2+ (basically the same as the first except it's more efficient, the laser is better and it has the infrared unit for the DVD remote inside the unit rather than being a peripheral device).

Same thing happened with my ps2 , but the games still worked . It lasted about 20 minutes in the "reading disc" screen . But after that time , it worked .

Try calling Sony and asking them if they can fix it, if they can't then toss it or try to sell it on ebay. Believe it or not, some people actually buy broken items.

That's actually good advice, type collectors edition on it & spray paint it gold. Bam, you'll be getting high bids.

 Yup, if someone will buy a piece of toast in the shape of Jesus for $10,000 then you should find a buyer for a spray-painted gold, broken PS2.

The precedent of the laptop that's been blown away by a shotgun selling for $279US (or whatever it was, it's been a while since I saw that episode of the Tonight Show) also suggests people will buy anything...even if it's clearly advertised as broken and useless.

I did, but it was no use. The laser was shot though, so it didn't work. Apparently you're not supposed to use those regular cleaners anyway, though I wouldn't be surprised if that's just Sony trying to get more money out of you for repairs.
