Do you play ball?

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

If you're successful, prepare for the backlash and jealosy. But good luck man :)

like i said, i had to sit out our 7th game because of fatigue... but was at the game. we trailed by as many as 16, and was trailing by 9 points with 2:30 or so left in the 4th.

my team went on a 14 to 3 run, and won by 2... final score 82-80.

i came back big saturday, scoring 21 points in 29 minutes, and i made 3-5 3pointers. (told you i was working hard to get back my 3 point shot)

right now we're 6 wins & 2 losses, next game wednesday... i'm going to try and be as agressive as possible, and put alot of points!

by the way, when you're in the nlsc for a while (couple hours etc.) and from time to time when you make a post, you have to keep loggin in.. does anyone have that problem?

Hi!

I got some trouble here. As i've said...this is my first club season and we've only played 4 games- we are 2-2. Lost both games by 3 points. Anyways, I wasn't a main option on offence or basically gametime, in fact I sat on the bench for more than half the games. But the week before our 4th game I did ausome at training. I hit 7 threes in a row and ended up shooting about 11/15 for threes. I guess I was havin' a good night.

Well, next game coach kept putting me on hoping that I would score like I did at training. This may sound weak but it was sorta hard takin' the pressure. I drove in and got fouled. Scored both free throws and on the next play I scored from mid-range, baseline. Coach then took me off and chucked a sike at me. He said I should be shooting from long-range!! What kind of a coach is that!

I figured out that I am having trouble scoring on the team too. Don't know why... I'm scoring less than 2 ppg. But we've had this school house comp. My teams in da finals. All of our players haven't played much. But anyway my point is tat i scored 13 points in the second half to bring my team from behind to win 28-18,today. I found it easier to score because our coach told me to just go in...unlike my club coach who keeps forcing me to shoot threes!

Can anyone help me? Tell me what I should do?

Another question. Anyone here able to tell me how they shoot- i'm tryin' find a style best for me. I've lost my stroke from beyond the arc...i forgot how i was shootin' two weeks ago...

Please reply- I'd love to hear ur answers!!

He kept telling me to shoot from outside but i didn't listen and played my usual game; my streetball!! I drove in and got fouled. Scored both free throws and on the next play I scored from mid-range, baseline. Coach then took me off and chucked a sike at me. He said I should be shooting from long-range!! Okay will_8k,

Firstly, I don’t know why any b-ball coach would force his player to do something that he’s not good at? I’m not saying that you can’t shoot, it seems that you have a nice midrange jumper, and a good inside game.

You need to let your coach, or some older good ball player help you more with your 3point or jump shot. When playing ball always give 110% effort all the time… be aggressive (not wild), and never back down.

I’m only 17, playing in a 3rd division big men’s league, and averaging 17 + points… I’m 5-7 and usually the smallest player on the court, but yet the most dangerous, because I always concentrate & give 110% maximum effort. I’m not intimidated by anyone.

Willie boy, you got to play with energy, and your defense fuel your offense. Play strong, and get to the rim, get easy buckets, & get to the foul line. At other times when the chance is there, hit your midrange jumpers. Work on what you are good at now until you’ve mastered it, and then move on to other parts of the game.

And whenever you’re shooting, just keep your eyes on that rim all the time, regardless? And just follow through with your wrist rotation. Play tough, have fun, and get the job done!

Peace…

oh shoot,

my bad willie 8k, when i was posting i forgot the first part where u said you hit 11 out 15 3's etc...

my mistake...

but anyways, to be a good scorer, you can't depend on one thing all the time, there as to be some versitility to you're game! you already have a good midrange jumper & 3point shot. but as i said you need to be aggressive and get to basket, & get to the foul line and so forth...

being a good scorer means that one knows how to score easy buckets, i don't see how you can be averaging just 2points per game? you seem to have great skills...

you know what willie__8k, if you read this post back and asks any questions, and tell me like how many minutes you play?

Thanks for the props Don!

I'll answer your question. I've only joined my team for a short time and despite how hard i try at training he just won't use me cause we got three other good scorers on at one time. I've only played about 12 mpg but it is increasing. I played 20 mins last week and we're playin' a weak team on Sat so hopefully i'll see half a game!

And thanks for the advice man! Hopefully, I can use some of it!

Next to Shep Ramsey, I'm will_k8 not kate but k8- u know my idol, Kobe no. 8! and Anyways is just a habbit! My English is my second language and I haven't quite mastered it!

my skillz

Postby PoliceLineDoNotCross on Thu Jun 26, 2003 4:07 am

i play ball on the streets. my overall record against individuals is about 30-1 with my # of wins being 30.

i'm in the 9th grade and i'm only around 5'4".

strengths: i attack the basket. whenever i take on a bigger opponent, which is always, i slash right at them and hit a layup. i have ups for a short guy and i have great court vision. i'm fast, and i can hit 3's and free throws. i can also hit the midrange fadeaway shot. i can nail baseline shots from the right side of the court. i am really tough and i bounce back from pain. i can stuff shots for a little guy.

weaknesses: i need to improve on my crossover. i always get bumped in the nose and start bleeding(i keep wanting to play but people run away when i have blood dripping down my shirt). i need to work on my baseline shot on the left side of the court. i need to improve layups some more. i recently broke my arm and fractured my leg(i didn't get my leg checked at any hospital). i didn't check my leg, and i just couldn't run for a while. i need to improve on stealing the ball and i also need to stop settling for the 3-point shot.
