New GM forced at Detroit
Joe Dumars shock retirement forces a change of management in the Detroit lockerroom.

Tragedy struck Detroit today, as Joe Dumars accounced he had to leave his job as GM of the Pistons due to horrific circumstances. Dumars chose not to say exactly what these were, however the general consensus is that he was having difficulties at home.
Dumars said, "I'm not sure when I'll be back. Hopefully it is soon, and when I am able to come back to managing this team, my job will still be there for me."

Joe Dumars was not only a great player for the Pistons, but also has been a great GM, with such moves as picking Tayshaun Prince with a late pick in the draft, and trading for Rasheed Wallace from Atlanta.
His early draft moves have been poor, however, choosing Darko with the 2nd pick in the 2003 draft, and Rodney White with the 9th pick in the 2001 draft.
Hopefully the new GM, who has been chosen after a series of auditions, will be able to be as succesful as Joe.

The new general manager for Detroit is a new face to the NBA, a young man of only 36 named Cyan McNamara. He hails from Australia, in a small country town not far from the ocean.
His basketball resume is long, having managed such NBL (Australian Basketball League) teams such as the Frankston Bears, the GoldCoast Rollers, Hobart Devils, the Newcastle Falcons and finally the Victorian Titans, his final job in the NBL, finishing in 2004. He has not played basketball at the elite level, yet has played at junior clubs until he was 15.

Nice (Y) You will have to change your sig now. :P

Sat Feb 11, 2006 9:33 am

Good luck. Pistons will be a little easy but try to get them over 70 wins. Also try to give Darko some play time and Ben Wallace to score more than 10 ppg

Ben Wallace, Jason Maxiell traded to Dallas
Ben and Jason traded for Pavel Podkolzine

Fans and media alike were shocked to hear the new Detroit GM announe this trade. Cyan McNamara, recently signed to manage the Detroit Pistons traded three-time defensive player of the year Ben Wallace, as well as their first round pick in the 2005 draft, for the 7'5" seemingly useless Pavel Podkolzine and Jerry Stackhouse, a player who has past his prime.

What on earth was he thinking? Seems to be the question on everyones mind, including the Dallas GM, Mark Cuban was shocked when Cyan rang him up for the deal, "I had no idea that McNamara was so... so ignorant? He just has no idea, but hey, I'll take this trade any day!"

Sent to a press-conference today to explain himself, Cyan McNamara had this to say, "Ben Wallace is 6 foot 9! a 6'9" center, what the hell! I dont know what the guys who signed this guy out of college were thinking, hes way too short to play in the NBA. And Jason Maxiell, 6'7"? Puh-lease. ... Now we have a true 7'5" center who can obviously play, I mean, look at his height."
When asked why he thinks Ben Wallace can't play, despite his three defensive titles he responded with a grunt, "Defensive titles are useless. Who wants to see defence these days anyway? Offence is the only way to win. Jerry Stackhouse averaged 29ppg during the 2000-01 season, and that was in Detroit. Whats to say he can't do it again?"

It was originally thought that since this 'manager' had managed so many teams previous to Detroit, and from such a young age, that he would have some idea of what he was doing. Hopefully this trade has something to is that we aren't seeing.

Sat Feb 11, 2006 1:45 pm

Ben is just so short... He obviously can't play basketball. Unlike Pavel, he's made for the game!

Sat Feb 11, 2006 3:56 pm

Sat Feb 11, 2006 6:10 pm

Personally i would have traded him to the Bucks for Bogut and Redd

Sat Feb 11, 2006 8:34 pm

WOW great trade
Dallas got good center (Y)

Sat Feb 11, 2006 10:12 pm

if anyone knows what proscribe means, it means to prohibit or condemn

which means he's condemning the pistons from being any good

nice trade

Sat Feb 11, 2006 10:22 pm

aww, I love big ben, but I like the idea of what you are doing. Apart from that, the trade would suck, but I hope you can make Pavel into the next dominant force.
On that note, could you post what coaches you have?

Isn't Mark Cuban the owner of the Mavs not the GM, or is he both?

Sat Feb 11, 2006 10:51 pm

Man oh man... that wasnt a good trade man. You shoulda got my man Yao Ming!!!
