Best Driving Songs - Sorry, another Song thread.

Postby Dean on Wed Feb 01, 2006 2:47 pm

Hey,

Sorry for another song thread, but i felt i could make a new topic because driving songs are completely different to peoples favourite songs.

Anyways, i was just wondering what your all time favourite driving songs were. This can be for road trips or cruising the streets, looking for chicks lol.

So far the only one i have is "Radar Love" by Golden Earing.

Radar Love's a classic. (Y) I'll throw Moby's remix of the James Bond theme out there as well.

my playlist

Basically when I'm on a long road trip ie the road back to college I turn on the sports talk station in washington DC until I can't get reception. Then I put in a few classical music cd's believe it or not and after 2 cd's have been played I've reached my destination.

I always like Nirvana in the car...."That Girl" is a pearler....maybe a bit of Black Sabbath or Beatles....but I tend to like more old school songs (60s, 70s, 80s) when I'm in the car as I'm usually trying to mellow out after work....

I like old school Metallica in the car, along with Evergreen Terrace. The ultimate in-car band though is Pearl Jam.

I listen to XM radio rather than use my iPod.

I like listening to Bob Marley because I know the lyrics to most of his songs so it keeps me involved while I sing.

Just thought of another one: Twisted Sister's "I wanna rock" is a good one on the way home after finishing work for the week.

Classic rock: ie rush, dire straits... I could go on all day. Anything up beat and awesome.

Speaking of upbeat and awesome, nothing beats bluegrass. Don't even laugh. Some of the old stuff with whiny voices can be annoying but get the good stuff and it is amazing. I would suggest checking out www.archive.org and searching for "Hayseed Dixie". Their first album was all bluegrass remakes of AC/DC songs. Their second was KISS. They do a ton of awesome stuff and have a well-known banjo player who is excellent. The archive.org music is live and free and mostly of good quality.
