Help me out?

Postby cklitsie on Wed Feb 01, 2006 6:44 am

I'm looking for a program similar to Limewire (you know eh.. to share my school files :shifty: ).

I've had Napster, Kazaa, eMule and Torrent before and now Limewire, up until last week when it stopped working. I can open it, but it just won't connect to the network.
I've reinstalled a couple of times, disabled the firewall thing, downloaded new Java software..

Anyone have any suggestions?

ps. If this is against the rules, please delete it and let me know. I don't think it is though.

I'd recommend either Torrents (BitComet) or Direct Connect (DC ++).

And no, it's not against the rules as long as you're not planning on downloading anything illegal

Thanks for the help (so far) guys. I'll try that Ares thing.

..and I knew there were going to be a lot of silly spammers in here trying to be funny.

Well.. smartass, show me the rule where it says I can't ask for a download program? I'm not asking for copyrighted files right here, just a program..
In the mean time, take this: "Try to avoid making one or two word posts in discussions."
And lpasso, correct the Grampa before Spelling Nazi Cy finds out.

You could try Shareaza aswell, I used to use it until it decided to up & die on me one day. (Similiar to what Limewire did to you, but I can use Limewire now, can't use Shareaza. Stupid things.)

I use Limewire for small files. I still have shareaza to download bigger files, but for some reason the speed dosent go above 3 kB. Other than that its all good!

Bit Comet if you're looking for big files (teh_full_p0rn_movies) and I'd use Limewire for music.

Ah, I'll pretend I didn't see that.

As for smaller files, though it's probably not as fast, but I use eMule. For the bigger ones, I use Azureus. Alternatively BitComet works well too.

I had the same problem with LimeWire, but unlike yours, mine was resolved with turning off the firewall. But i have to keep turning it on and off all the time though.

OK, so I got Ares and so far no complaints.
I still use Azureus/Torrent for bigger files, but I hate how it doesn't have a built-in search engine.
Dean wrote:But i have to keep turning it on and off all the time though.
In the menu where you turn the firewall on and off, you can also set programs to which the firewall won't apply, eg. I had my firewall on except in Limewire.
