First quarter blow-out helps Pacers defeat Raptors

November, 8th 2005

Boxscores
Indiana Pacers | Toronto Raptors

Toronto, Canada (Ticker) Four of Indiana's 5 starters combined for 78 points as the Pacers managed to survive a 4th quarter comeback against the struggling Raptors. The first quarter saw the Pacers score 15 unanswered points to start off the game with Jamal Tinsley and Ron Artest combining for 24 points as the Pacers finished the quarter ahead 35-14. Big men on both teams were struggling but the guards were the ones doing all the work. The Pacers decided to take the game down a notch in the second quarter which resulted in O'Neal having a good quarter with 9 pointsto help the Pacers finish the half ahead 57-37.

The second half saw the home crowd get behind their team as they managed to make a comeback led by Mo Peterson. The Raptors could only manage to come as close as 8 points as some strong defence from the Pacers helped them cross the line with the win, 94-85.

Top Left: Jamaal Tinsley was great early in the match. Top Right: Chris Bosh struggled with only 9 points.
Middle Left: Mo Pete was trying his best to get his team back into the game. Middle Right: O'Neal with the block.
Bottom Left: S-Jax continuing his great shooting form, the replacement of Reggie?! Bottom Right: Charlie made a lay-up!

Rick Carlisle, "Credit to the Raptors, they gave us a scare but I had no doubts about my team, and they prevailed."
Mike James (who?), "We were unlucky not to come away victors here. The first quarter killed us but it didn't kill all of our confidence."
Charlie Villanueva, "Dude! I made a lay-up! Huh? What's that? Oh, it's the mother ship calling, gotta scoot."

The Pacers move to 4-0 this season, they are having a great start to this season. Our thoughts are that this season is for Reggie. Good luck to the Pacers for the remainder of the season and against the Nets in 2 days for their final game in their road trip.

Bender considers retirement

November 8th, 2005

Jonathon Bender's long going battle with injuries has prevented this man to ever live up to the hype of his potential in this league. He still has two years and 13 million dollars left on his contract but he may retire soon due to knee injuries.

The Pacers management have said that they'll keep him and give him as much treatment as possible for him to make a recovery but that seems to be going no where. The only logical reason to why they have kept him is to use him as a trade filler just in case they want to make any trades this year.

"My knee is just not 100% and may never be that healthy again," said the 24 year old Jonathon Bender. "I have worked hard coming out of high school but injuries have let me down."

"Hopefully one day, I could look back and say that I tried my best but I am one of the unlucky ones in the league."

Pacers' GM, Larry Bird stated that they'll keep Bender for as long as he's needed and that they hope he'll eventually come back to 100% but they may not happen.

Rick Carlisle says that his team is ready for the play-offs

November 9th, 2005

Rick Carlisle has stated that his team has been more ready than ever for this season's play-offs, and we're only 2 weeks into the season. The Pacers have won four road games in a row and this has convinced Rick Carlisle that his team will be there in May.

"The team has worked hard during the offseason and I'm glad the team knows it and shows it," said Carlisle, "I believe we have all the pieces of a championship contender here on the Pacers team and we'll make every team in the East know that we are here to stay."

"The main motive for us is Reggie's retirement. We want to win a championship and dedicate it to him. Jermaine (O'Neal) is fitter than ever, Ron Artest has controlled a little bit of himself, we have two new exciting rookies, I think we're contenders."

The Pacers play their final game of their road trip tomorow against the New Jersey Nets. This will definitely put the Pacers up to the test and to see if Rick Carlisle is right about his team.

Too lazy to add all of yours in the game, I've put in a few, the ones that you released seperately but I'm too lazy to do the jersey raptor changes.

But i did.

Vince Carter injury scare but Nets prevail

November 10th, 2005

Boxscores
Indiana Pacers | New Jersey Nets

East Rutherford, NJ (Ticker) The Nets big 3, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd combined for 76 points as the Nets prevailed at home against the Pacers, 105-95. The 1st quarter started off even with both teams attacking the basket well. The second quarter saw the Pacers take an eight point lead thanks to Ron Artest's 12 second quarter points.

The third quarter saw a 16 point turn-around as the Ron Artest and Jermaine O'Neal were in foul trouble. Vince Carter got knocked down heavily with 4 seconds left in the quarter but he was able to comeback on in the 4th quarter. The Pacers began the quarter strongly but when Vince Carter came back on, there was no hope for the Pacers to make a miracle comeback. Stephen Jackson shot 0-12 from the 3 point line as the Nets won the second half 51-33.

Top Left: Jermaine O'Neal goes up strongly. Top Right: Richard Jefferson punishes S-Jax for shooting 0-12 from the 3pt line.
Middle Left: Vince Carter makes the shot over his defender. Middle Right: Ron Artest steals the ball.
Bottom Left: O'Neal wasn't his best tonight but still found ways to score. Bottom Right: Richard Jefferson with the flashy dunk.

Rick Carlisle, "That was a very mediocre game, we had the game won in the 2nd quarter but foul trouble and poor play from our bench lost us the lead. For our first home game of the season, I've decided to bench Jamal Tinsley and Stephen Jackson and replacing them in the starting line-up will be Danny Granger and Sarunas Jasikevicius."
Jason Kidd, "The crowd got behind us in the 3rd quarter and there was nothing the other team could do about it."
Stephen Jackson, "Man, zero from 12 from the 3 point line, that isn't me. That's someone else. I've been bench you say? Well I'll just have to provide spark from the bench. Damn."

This games ends a 5 game road trip for the Pacers. The Pacers go down to 4-1 for the season and play their first home game of the season against the Charlotte Bobcats this Sunday on the 13th of November.
