NT Bao,
I know there is a problem with Yuta Tabuse.
That is why is several downloads they have renamed his ID to YATABUS instead of YUTABUS.
But I do not know why this happened.

roelchik, thanks. after I downloaded the portrait patch here and studied it, I found that out too. I guess it doesnt work well if I try it like that.
Thanks though. I could mess around with custumized players so I guessed I did everything right.

Photoshop

Mon Jun 06, 2005 8:00 am

I have tried photoshop and paintshop pro free trials and none of them allow me to open the 1.bmp file in step 5. it says that the file-format module cannot parse the file. if anyone knows what that means, can you please help me!

Who knows? I got it to work, me being the blockhead at this patching thing.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 2:20 pm

I followed all the steps and i got the portrait in the game but it has a white background and I swear I deleted all background layers in photoshop. Do you have any idea what is going wrong?

How do I put a created player on the list?

Mon Jul 04, 2005 1:47 am

Hi guys. Here is the deal. I cannot find a created player on the plyrprts.viv list. How do I put a created player there. Other than that I have no more questions regarding the tutorial, it is fantastic.

Step 17: Open Ea Graph again, and open the plyrprts.viv file again, and import the new "plyrprts~MIJORDA.big" into it.

thanks for the tutorial........i'm using it to add portraits for the incoming rookies.......I did get the 05-06 roster patch from here and I got a good number of portraits from nbalive.org.......but I had to add in a few so that every pick gets a pic.....or something like that.......

the ones I've done so far are Yaroslav Korolov, Amir Johnson, Ricky Sanchez, and Ian Mahinmi. The next ones I'll do will be Brandon Bass, Daniel Ewing, Travis Diener and Von Wafer

Sat Jul 09, 2005 2:20 am

I got most of them to work, but they're too big.....I followed the instructions to add the portraits and I edited both the players.dbf and appearance.dbf files for the 2005-06 roster.......

here is the ones I did via photoshop.......

Von Wafer

Brandon Bass

Daniel Ewing

Travis Diener

Kindly read through the tutorial and subsequent posts and questions before asking the same ones that have already been asked. If you don't have a cyberface installed, the head will be pink. This tutorial will only create a player portrait. But I guess its my fault, my thread title was too confusing.

Kevin. wrote:
I followed your steps in changing cyberfaces and it went okay. But when I started to play the game, my player have a pink head. Did i miss any steps?

Yup, you missed every single step in the tutorial that doesn't exist. This is for player portraits only, not cyberfaces. If you don't have a cyberface installled for a new player, it will show up pink in the game.

I also wanted to clarify, is this tutorial used to change the portrait (ex. the picture displayed when a player take free throws) or the actual face of the player (in gameplay)?

Ummmm....duh? The title of the tutorial is "Player Portrait Tutorial," not "Cyberface Tutorial." If you click through the reference pics, or actually read through the tutorial, you would see that this is strictly for portraits.

For future patching newbies who visit this thread, can you please just read through the tutorial and look through the refernce pictures before you post questions. As far as I can tell, everything has been covered. Whether its the process of creating the image, installation, dbf editing, it has all been covered at least once, and in most cases, several times.
