McGrady Sparks but Spurs Past Rockets

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 15 (Ticker) -- The Houston Rockets saw everything they wanted to see from Tracy McGrady.

McGrady scored 36 points in the game but the Rockets weren't able to beat San Antonio.

The Rockets already were playing without their other All-Star, center Yao Ming, who did not play because of an injured left big toe. Free agent signee Stromile Swift came off the bench and collected 13 points and three steals.

Duncan finished with 20 points for the defending champion Spurs, who were playing without starting center Nazr Mohammed. Mohammed is not with the team because his wife is expecting their second child. Tony Parker finished with a double-double, combining 17 points and 10 assists. Manu Ginobili added 22 points.

SAN ANTONIO Oct 18 (TICKER) -- The new Indiana Pacers will face against the San Antonio Spurs in this game, but now without Retired Player Reggie Miller.

Something surprising on San Antonio's side, Sean Marks will start at power forward. Bowen and Ginobili are back in the starting 5. Jawad Williams is still in the Active Roster.

On Indiana's side, you have Ron Artest back, Jermaine O'Neal will start at center. Jeff Foster will get the power forward position and as usual, Jamaal Tinsley will start.

San Antonio has won their last game against the Houston Rockets at the SBC Center, by 10. Will they continue their winning-streak ?

Thanks a lot ! I think I deserve that win because I led the whole game...
For the question, I try to be as realistic as possible, if you look in the reality, Marks started the game, and Duncan didn't play the game. One of Pop's weird decisions, but I'll try to follow him as often as possible. I personally liked playing with Marks against Houston. I'd be glad to test him more, that's also why I followed Pop's real lineup.

Pacers Slip Past Spurs

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 18 (Ticker) -- Much has been made of Ron Artest's return to the Indiana Pacers.

Artest continued his strong preseason with 28 points and 10 rebounds as the Pacers coasted to a 107-111 preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Bender scored 5 points and grabbed 3 rebounds for the Pacers.

Both Artest and Bender were limited to seven games last season, Artest due to his suspension for the brawl in Detroit on November 19 and Bender because of an ailing right knee.

Jamaal Tinsley scored 21 points. Granger finished with only one assist for Indiana.

Tony Parker scored 12 points for the Spurs, who played without superstar forward Tim Duncan. Robert Horry and Michael Finley scored 20 points. Sean Marks got injured early in the game but returned back.

OKLAHOMA CITY, La., Oct. 20 (Ticker) -- Relocated to Oklahoma City following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina to the Crescent City, the Hornets had played a pair of road games and a contest in Little Rock, Ark., before appearing Thursday in front of fans in Louisiana. They will play just six games in the state this season, all in Baton Rouge.

Tony Parker will be absent for this game, leaving the Point Guard position to veteran Nick Van Exel, but Duncan will return back.

Rasual Butler will try to help his team when he'll enter the game. Bostjan Nachbar and Maciej Lampe, two Europeans guys, will start at small forward and power forward, and finally, PJ Brown will take the center position.

The Spurs lost to Indiana during their last game, will they bounce back against the Hornets ?

Hornets fall to Spurs

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 20 (Ticker) -- The Hornets trailed by as many as 35 points before absorbing a 106-73 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

New Orleans started the game in a poor rhythm, offensively, and defensively, leaving San Antonio winning the 1st quarter with a terrible 27-15. Nick Van Exel was a poison to the Hornets' defense, dishing already 4 assists. Duncan was quickly in the game with already 8 points, and 4 rebounds.

During the 2nd quarter, Michael Finley was present offensively, as always in every preseason game San Antonio played this year, with 10 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and a nice defensive presence, with 2 steals.. PJ Brown was impressive inside, grabbing 8 rebounds in only 2 quarters, but New Orleans couldn't catch the Spurs up during this quarter, and at the end the score was 49-34 for Tim Duncan's partners.

In the 3rd quarter, it was San Antonio's game, the score was so high that Manu Ginobili decided to end this game, scoring a lot of points during the 3rd, to reach 19 points. It was such an easy contest that Gregg Popovich decided to align Marks and Oberto inside, with Beno Udrih at guard, Brent Barry and Michael Finley to keep experience on the floor. It paid because New Orleans was still behind by more than 30 points (33 to be exact). At the end of the 3rd, the score was 84-49 for the Spurs.

In the 4th nothing special happened, Nick Van Exel dished 8 assists at the end, PJ Brown grabbed 14 rebounds for the Hornets and Chris Paul was tonight's best scorer with 22 points.

Defending champs past Knicks

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 22 (Ticker) -- The Knicks still believed that they could win until the end of the game. San Antonio was leading by 15 though. But they didn't give up. In vain, because the Spurs won the game 91-104.

The game was nice offensively at the beginning, with more than 20 points scored by each team. With a Tim Duncan in a great form, the San Antonio Spurs started the game well. Tony Parker helped a lot, so did Nick Van Exel, dishing 4 assists during the 1st. The 1st quarter ended with San Antonio leading by 8, 21-29.

During the 2nd quarter, veteran Michael Finley showed he has still energy to play excellent basketball. He was San Antonio's top scorer at the end of the 1st half, with 11 points. Jamal Crawford was New York's booster, scoring 14 points during the 1st half, but San Antonio was very strong during the 2nd, scoring 29 points again during the quarter, as the Spurs led by 14 at the end.

In the 3rd quarter, Tony Parker elevated his play-level as he scored points and dished assists to his teammates. Duncan was the leading rebounder, with 4 grabs, which isn't great for him. Stephon Marbury finished the 3rd quarter with 22 points, leading the Knicks, but San Antonio was still leading at the end of the 3rd, 70-81.

In the 4th Jamal Crawford was scoring a lot, he shot many threes, as well as jump-shots, to reach the 30+pts bar, with 33 points. It wasn't enough to beat the defending champs, with a great Nick Van Exel, giving 8 assists. Parker was fouled out with 2 minutes left, because of a stupid foul. Tim Duncan woke up during the 4th, and was San Antonio's leading scorer with 19 points. At the end the score was 91-104 for the Spurs.
