Clippers exploring trade options

Following the Clippers up and down start to the season, GM IJBL has already made it clear the team is looking at all the options to rectify the problems. "Anything is possible" he was quoted as saying, when asked if the rumours regarding JR Smith coming to LA were true. However, it is clear that while IJBL would like to acquire JR, the Hornets will not trade a player who, along with rookie Chris Paul, is the teams only significant hope for the future. Hornets GM Jeff Bower said: "The Clippers may want him, but they stand no chance of getting him. Even if they offered Elton Brand or Corey Maggette, I couldn't see us doing the deal. We aren't looking for a quick fix solution; we want to build a franchise on solid foundations."

The Clippers have been rumoured to be going around the league inquiring about several players availability. The T-Wolves are having an awful season, and currently are one of the worst teams in the league. However, it has been made clear that KG will not be allowed to leave under any circumstances. Peja Stojakovic is perhaps a more realistic target. The 6'10'' forward is known to be unhappy in Sacramento. Furthermore, IJBL is a huge fan of European players, being European himself. The Kings, looking to toughen up, would probably welcome a deal involving Corey Maggette for Peja.

Other names flying around include Carlos Boozer, Zach Randolph and Mark Blount. Al Harrington is a FA at the end of the season, so could probably be had for the right price, especially with Marvin Williams on the bench. Former all-star Jamal Magloire has voiced his displeasure at being benched in favour of rookie Andrew Bogut.

If the rumours are correct, and Corey Maggette is being offered round to other teams, it will probably shock the fans as much as it will Maggette. However, Maggette commented: "Thats business I guess. I am happy here, but if they decide to trade me, it is their loss". All star forward Elton Brand and rookies Yarolsav Korolev and James Singleton are also said to have been discussed, but it is the out of form Maggette who would appear most likely to go. Clippers GM IJBL had the final word though: "Whatever happens, I will try and make this as fair as possible". What a nice guy.

Breaking news: IJBL and Maggette set for showdown talks in Clipperland

Following the emergance of reports that the Clippers were actively exploring the possibility of trading star forward Corey Maggette, Maggette's agent has demanded showdown talks with Clippers GM IJBL. "I don't think the Clippers are dealing with the situation the right way", he told reporters outside the Staples Centre. "They are dealing with it the wrong way; the Clippers way. Corey has shown nothing but loyalty to the team. He is a good teammate, and the fact he is vice captain shows that even the Clippers recognise his qualities. However, we feel let down. The Clippers should show my client some respect, instead of going behind his back".

IJBL confirmed they would be discussing the issue later today. "It's out of hand" he told reporters outside the Clippers practice facility. "We have to sit down and speak about the situation, about what we both want to happen, and where we go from here. This isn't a question of simply telling Corey that we are trading him. We have to sit down, face to face, and discuss the future. As far as I am concerened, Corey can play a huge oart in that future."

So the situation continues. It is said that Maggette's agent and IJBL both want the situation sorted out before the teams next game, against the Bobcats. Both parties will meet tonight, and you can be sure that the Los Angeles Times will be there to report to you on what happens!

Maggette to stay a Clipper

Following lengthy discussions between Corey Maggette, his agent, Clippers GM IJBL, and Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy Snr, it has been agreed that Maggette will remain at the Clippers. "We talked, and there isn't a problem anymore" Maggette said as he left the meeting. GM IJBL commented "I apolgised to Corey, and the matter is sorted. I intend to build this franchise around Corey and Elton. Breaking them up is unthinkable".

While all this was going on, news was breaking in Dallas that the Mavericks were on the verge of adding veteran swingman Cuttino Mobley from the Clippers. The Mavericks have several expiring contracts, including Keith Van Horn, Jason Terry and Doug Christie, and Dallas have been looking to add another star player all season. IJBL has been complaining about his team over the past few days, and is rumoured to want to shake things up. An announcement is expected from LA any minute, and it could be to confirm that Mobley, who was signed by previous GM Elgin Baylor, could be on his way out of LA just a couple of months into his contract.

Clippers and Mavericks complete trade

The Dallas Mavericks trade Doug Christie and Pavel Podkolzin to the Los Angeles Clippers for Cuttino Mobley, Luther Head and Boniface NDong

The Clippers entered semi-rebuilding mode today, when they announced they had traded Cuttino Mobley to Dallas. "I want to build my own team" Clippers GM IJBL said. "I see Doug making a big impact for this team this season. He is an excellent defender. Given the points we are currently giving up, he should improve the team greatly. The trade will also give us room to breath in Free Agency, and maybe make a run at a top tier Free Agent".

Mark Cuban was also pleased with the deal. "Cuttino is a another quality player in Dallas. He will start at SG, as the long term replacement for Finley, and hopefully help us reach our goal of winning a championship." It is also though Cuban was concerened about Christies commitment to the team, as his reality TV show continues to attract attention. However, this wasn't a problem for IJBL: "What he does in his own time is up to him. Besides, we need a star at the Clippers, and Christie is that star. Jackie Christie, that is..."

Woohoo!! The Christie's are back where they belong, in Hollywood!

I'm not a fan of old players that are past their prime, but I liked Doug Christie when he was with Toronto. Played three positions and could defend well in all three of them.

Clippers bounce back from Houston disaster
I have already written this all out before, but my PC crashed... so I am going to keep this short. Doug Christie had a great first game for the Clippers, who lead from start to finish. The 13 year veteran scored 21 points. Emeka Okafor was the Bobcats best player. He finsihed with 18pts, 9reb, 3stl and 7blk.

Image
Okafor is the Bobcats leader at both ends of the floor.

Final Score:
Clippers - 96
Bobcats - 88

Notable Performances:
LAC - Elton Brand (22pts, 4reb, 9/20 FG)
LAC - Doug Christie (21pts, 4reb, 6/13 FG)
LAC - Shaun Livingston (0pts, 11ast, 0/11 FG)

CHA - Emeka Okafor (18pts, 9reb, 9/10 FG)
CHA - Kareem Rush (18pts, 2ast, 7/11 FG)
CHA - Gerald Wallace (6pts, 5stl, 3/10 FG)

Player of the Game:

LAC - Doug Christie
21pts, 4reb, 1ast, 2stl, 0blk (6/13 FG, 0/2 3PT, 9/12 FT)

A great first game for Doug Christie

Clippers and Bulls swap backups

The Chicago Bulls trade Eric Piatkowski to the Los Angeles Clippers for James Singleton and Howard Eisley
Image Image Image

Following the Cuttino Mobley trade 2 days ago, the Clippers made another move, this time to strengthen the rotation of the backcourt, and add a quality long range shooter. Eric Piatkowski, who has spent 9 years as a Clipper previously, was acquired from the Bulls. Reserve forward James Singleton and backup PG Howard Eisley were sent to the Bulls, who were looking to strengthen their frontcourt.

Defending Champions defeated by improved Clippers
This is the sort of game you have to win if you have any thoughts of winning the title: playing the defending champions at your place. Thankfully, all the Clippers players came ready to play. Corey Maggette top scored with 24, and Elton Brand chipped in 23. The game was tight until the 3rd quarter, when the Clippers turned a 5 point lead into a 20 point lead. Ginobili lead the fight for the Spurs with 36 points. Shockingly, Tim Duncan wasn't even the Spurs best post player. He finished with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 1 block while Sean Marks managed to cause the Clippers problems with a solid performance. Marks was making his first appearance of the season, due to a Robert Horry injury.

Image
Sean Marks started for the Spurs at the 4. In 27 minutes he scored 13 points (5/5 shooting), grabbed 9 boards, and made an impact defensively with 3 steals and 2 blocks!

Final Score:
Clippers - 117
Spurs - 104

Notable Performances:
LAC - Elton Brand (23pts, 10reb, 10/17 FG)
LAC - Corey Maggette (24pts, 2stl, 10/12 FG)
LAC - Daniel Ewing (11pts, 7ast, 5/12 FG)

SAS - Manu Ginobili (36pts, 2stl, 14/19 FG)
SAS - Tony Parker (13pts, 15ast, 6/18 FG)
SAS - Sean Marks (13pts, 9reb, 5/5 FG)

Player of the Game:
Image
LAC - Corey Maggette
24pts, 2reb, 2ast, 2stl, 0blk (10/12 FG, 0/0 3PT, 4/6 FT)

This is exactly why I didn't trade Maggette. Flawless performance.

I hate it how you got rid of Singleton... but i think Korolev will become better.

Thanks brad. Yeah I love playing dynasty mode anyway. And the way I see this, its just a cool way of keeping record of what you have done (I usually can't remember my players and wins, and anything really, from season to season), and also making it cool so that if anyone wants to see it, they can have a good read. Yeah the Christie trade was a funny one, I gotta admit. But Christie is playing great so its all good at the minute.

Cheers mate. Yeah, I'm gonna try and get Pavel on the court as much as possible :) The Singleton trade was another crazy one I guess, but with EB and Wilcox already the PF spot, I figured it would free up more time for Pavel to play, while also giving me the 3point bomber I really needed!

Thanks, it was probably my best performance of the season. Horry was injured. Nazr and Rasho were on the bench, and for some reason Marks started, in only his 1st game of the season. I thought it was pretty funny, especially as I have been watching Marks closely in the Stallions dynasty
