Wow, that Kobe dunk was sick! Great win against the Hawks, look at Kobes stats, 53 points on 17-30 shooting, 6-11 3 point, and 13-16 FT, WOW .

ANOTHER OT GAME GIVES LA THE WIN
Phil Jackson, Kobe, reportedly frustrated with the OT games

Kobe Bryant hit a dunk over Caron Butler then Chris Mihm and Andrew Bynum each had 1 block on the other end to secure the Los Angeles Lakers' 148-145 victory over the Washington Wizards in yet another overtime game.

Bryant had 58 points, the 2nd straight game he topped the 50-point mark, to lead Los Angeles while Chris Mihm had 19 points and Von Wafer came out of his slump to score 16.

Both Robert Horry and Jeff McInnis left the game due to injury, and that made Luke Walton play a lot of minutes. He made the most of it, scoring 11 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists.

This game marked the first time since the 4-player trade in the offseason that the Lakers and Wizards faced each other. The Lakers traded Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins to the Wizards for Kwame Brown and Laron Profit.

At first, Butler was all fired up, scoring 10 points in the first quarter while holding Kobe Bryant to only 8. Then, Bryant reminded him of who he was and held Butler to only 8 points the rest of the way, even making him, Gilbert Arenas and Antonio Daniels all foul out. Chucky Atkins scored 7 points.

The Wizards had very balanced scoring, with Arenas scoring 35 before fouling out. Antawn Jamison had 22 points and 19 rebounds but picked up 5 fouls while defending against Bryant's drive to the basket.

Kwame Brown had 13 points and 8 rebounds before fouling out.

After the game, Lakers coach Phil Jackson along with Kobe Bryant said that they have been frustrated with all these overtime games. Team doctors also said that the injuries were not serious.

Here's the report:

PLAYERS RETURN TO THEIR OLD TEAMS
SIX PLAYER TRADE ANNOUNCED

Image

Less than 24 hours after defeating the Washinton Wizards 148-145 in double overtime, Lakers GM Mitch Kuphack has announced that the two teams have agreed to a 6-player trade. The Lakers have traded forwards Devean George, Laron Profit and guard Sasha Vujacic to the Wizards in exchange for guard Chucky Atkins, forward Jarvis Hayes and center Andray Blatche.

Chucky Atkins and Laron Profit were both traded for each other as part of the Kwame Brown deal during the offseason. In that deal, LA sent Atkins and forward Caron Butler in exchange for Profit and Kwame Brown. Now, they have been traded back to their original teams.

George, who played every game for the Lakers, starting one, has averages of 9.5 points and 2.5 assists. Sasha Vujacic, who the Lakers have been trying to trade all season, has been averaging 2.1 points and 2.2 assists. Profit is another player the Lakers have been trying to trade and has been averaging 1.7 points and 0.9 assists.

Atkins, who scored 7 points against the Lakers, could move into the Lakers starting lineup due to the growing feud between guard Jeff McInnis and Lakers coach Phil Jackson. Hayes, who has been averang solid numbers, provides a quality backup to Lamar Odom at the forward spot.

We here at TNT have a breakdown of the stats of each of the players included in the trade:

NEWCOMERS PROVIDE EXTRA SPARK IN LAKERS WIN
Hayes has 10 and Atkins has 9 to help the Lakers win

LOS ANGELES-For the 2nd time in three nights, Chucky Atkins was back on the Staples Center floor. This time, he was in the purple in gold. This time, his team won. This time, there would be no overtime. Not even close to one.

Atkins was inserted into the starting lineup and scored 9 points as Jarvis Hayes scored 10 to provide an extra spark off the bench for a 101-93 win over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Kobe Bryant, who has recently said that he was frustrated with all these overtime games, led the Lakers with 42 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists while forward Kwame Brown had 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Emeka Okafor and Kareem Rush each led the Bobcats with 22 points.

The game was tight during the first half, with Charlotte leading by one at halftime. Then the Lakers started to pull away in the 2nd half and did their most damage in the 4th, where they outscord the Bobcats 31-21.

"It was a great first game with the guys," Bryant said. "Hopefully we can be able to gell more, then we would really be a great team."

"I'm just so happy being out of Washington," Atkins said. "We've been losing games, now its a fresh start."

This is the 2nd time that the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers have traded with each other, and both times involved the Chucky Atkins. Atkins was traded along with Caron Butler over the summer for Kwame Brown and Laron Profit, who was included in this recent trade.

"We'll really be tested in our next game," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "Hopefully we'll have enough energy and chemistry to win."

The Lakers play the Detroit Pistons next.

My favorite shot I miss the most:
Image

Those were the days weren't they! But Hey you're halfway done with the season! If you're playing on a PC, can I grab that pstat file from you to evaluate your Birdie efficiency score for your team?

Speaking of reminiscing, I too am doing a bit of that by trading for Shaq in my Laker dynasty!

...from the annals of the 2006 Birdie Project: (info)

Image
Good ol Kwame! Proving ALL his detracters wrong and blossoming in his new environment- walks away with a weighted Birdie score of 23.10- and his 'reversible' Live Card will be enabled.

Breaks into the Top 5:
This Dynasty instance is currently ranked #3 on the Official 2006 Birdie Board

Complete 'Birdie Breakdown' coverage  click here.

Isaiah: Thanks so much for your submission (and I need a rockin picture of Kwame to create a Live Card for you) Looking at your Raw score...you're efficiency score would have been in the century mark. As you may have felt already, your team's scoring and block average is what's causing you to be penalized in the 'unrealistic stat' area. Other than that, it's great to see a Laker team not dominated by Kobe...keep up the great work... ...of course, send me your end of season pstat when you get there!

To tell you the absolute truth...I actually had it mispelled during the first 5 or so shout outs! You can research this and see for yourself... ...of course, there's a lot of things that come out of my butt anyway :D

From now on...it will say "From the chronicles..." how about that!

Anyway...after giving it more thought...Robert Horry would never do something like that ...for him it's like "this is what I get paid to do" Lakers vs Kings Game 4...if you look back at the re-play, all he's doing is strutting back on defense...and then of course he gets mobbed!

 lol at the penalties! i knew that would happen since sometimes..no ofentimes the other players tend to shoot very bad or not move around for some reason so i just decide to make kobe do everything...as for the blocking, i never touched the sliders, but i also wondered why mihm and brown block so much...

i just recently ended a game vs the pistons that will add to the unrealism of kobe and the team in general

LAKERS UNVEIL ALTERNATE ROAD JERSEY

EL SEGUNDO, CA - At the Lakers' practice facility, Kobe Bryant and newcomers Chucky Atkins and Jarvis Hayes unveil a new alternate road jersey for the Los Angeles Lakers. Since this a new era with the departure of Shaquille O'Neal, management found it right to create something new.
Image
Image
"It was only fitting that we had Kobe, Chucky and Jarvis to be the ones to unveil the uniforms," Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak said. "After all, Kobe's the new leader of this team with the departure of Shaq, and Chucky and Jarvis are two of the newest Los Angeles Lakers."

The jersey also has a new color-black, instead of the traditional purple-and-gold. It also displays a new font used on the word "LAKERS" on the chest. No further details were given on whether the Lakers are going to change logos and team colors in the future.

The Lakers will debut their new road uniforms at home against the New York Knicks, where they will try to extend their winning streak to seven games.
Image
Above: Chucky Atkins shooting with the new jersey on, Hayes dunking wildly and Kobe Bryant doing his best jumpman imitation.

NOTE:
I KNOW ITS LOOKS KINDA BAD..ITS ACTUALLY MY FIRST TIME TO CREATE SOMETHING FOR NBA LIVE..ok this will be my last update for this week since i have to really concentrate since its exam week..ive done the detroit game already, but i wont update it until this weekend or so...probably next week itll be up...WISH ME LUCK!

The jerseys are nice, but the purple should just be gold. They shouldd be Black with Gold lettering/numbering and gold side stripe is cool. Good luck on your exams

KOBE FORCED TO SHOOT TO 63 POINTS, LAKERS SHUT DOWN PISTONS IN OT

These are the type of nights that Laker management hate. The type of nights that Phil Jackson hates. The type of nights that Kobe Bryant hates.

The Los Angeles Lakers only showed their true stuff in the overtime as they held the Pistons to only 8 points in the extra period for a 118-98 win. But then, Kobe wasn't all that happy.

"I don't wanna score all these points while my teammates just stand there," Bryant said at a press conference after the game. "It's frustrating, its tiring. That's probably why I missed all those free throws."

Bryant was forced to shoot 42 shots, making 23, and shoot 5-of-11 three pointers. While his other teammates were standing around, Bryant tried to get to the rim, but because he was so fatigued, he shot only 12-of-31 free throws.

Rip Hamilton had also experienced the weirdest game Flip Saunders has ever coached. Hamilton stayed in the game until he got his 5th foul with 4:00 left in the 2ND QUARTER. He didn't return until the overtime. Whether there's something going on behind the scenes, we don't know.

The Lakers play the Knicks next, where Bryant and Jackson hope that the other Lakers show up.

"So what if he averages 40 points a game?" Jackson said. "It doesn't automatically mean we win."

I guess this is the start of a new television series in Los Angeles.
