Isnt this backcourt?

If you are inbounding from your opponents half of the court to your half of the court, isnt it backcourt?

Well i just saw todays (Nov 19, 2005) Cavs vs Sixers game and I think it was Marshall who did that and he passed to Jones, but it wasnt called a backcourt violation.

It used to be a backcourt violation, I believe it's still a violation at the junior levels and possibly in college, but the NBA changed that rule so that you can inbound the ball into the backcourt after advancing across halfcourt after a timeout or infraction.

I was confused as hell when I got called for backcourt doing that in Live. It isn't an infraction for high school ball here.

Agreed, though backcourt violation calls a pretty sketchy in the NBA, same as the more subtle examples of travelling.

I hate it when double dribbles and traveling arent called, and I also have it when superstar players get touch fould. An example is Allen Iverson, he pushed off Mike james using his arm and it was called an defensive foul when its supposed to be offensive foul.

The passing into the backcourt is a shot clock thing. If you pass it into the front court the shot clock stays the same, and if you pass it into the backcourt it resets....or something like that.

it is? I thought the shot clock stays the same until a player touches the ball, and thats no matter what... isnt that true?

ya from what i know as long as a player touches the ball the clock starts..both game and shot clock...

as for the backcourt, the NBA changed the rule about inbounding from halfcourt to the backcourt...i saw it happen during the 2005 playoffs..
at first i was like "WHAT THE HELL???? THAT'S BACKCOURT!" then my uncle explained it to me

I don't know for the NBA, but by FIBA you were allowed to pass to the backcourt when you are inbounding from the centre court (feet at both sides of the line) years ago. And when you were standing both feet at frontcourt side of centre line a pass to the backcourt would be called as a backourt violation.

i was watching a college game and they were throwing it in from their baseline (in offence) to some guy at the defensive 3-point line.
