colickyboy's new Bulls dynasty... gm 2 vs GS

Postby colickyboy on Fri Nov 11, 2005 8:50 am

Until NBA Live 06 gets cheaper (pro'bly the after-Christmas sales  ), here's my new Bulls dynasty.

Unlike my last dynasty, I won't be trade-happy...only making one trade (to get Wade... b/c he really should have been a Bull in real-life). There will be several NLSCers in this dynasty too.

Dynasty settings:
Season Length: 29 Games
Play Game Quarter Length: 10 minutes
Sim Quarter Length: 12 minutes
Playoff Length: 5-5-5-5
Fantasy Draft: No
Simulation Type: Intervention
Rules: NBA rules
CPU Assistance: Off
Shot Control: User
Sliders: Brad Feet's sliders, tweaked a bit.
Mode: Superstar

I'm re-using the fake ESPN dynasty site from my old dynasty: http://home.ripway.com/2005-6/338795/...you could use http://h1.ripway.com/colickyboy. Note: view site on Internet Explorer...the fake ESPN Motion isn't working on Firefox... not sure why it can't find the video plugin.

I'll pro'bly play the season opener sometime this week. Unfortunately, things are a bit busy. But I'll try to keep things interesting in the meantime

Coming from you, that's quite a compliment, Emiliano...I really enjoyed your dynasty too.

Here's a fake SportsCenter update & transcript featuring Vanessa Zotth, a radio moderator from Brazil:

Image

Dwyane's World

Zotth: The Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat completed a blockbuster trade today. The Bulls send Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni to the Heat to get superstar Dwyane Wade, Shandon Anderson and Andre Emmett.

Image

Image

Bulls GM John Paxson: We gave up a lot to get Dwyane but if you're going to get someone of his caliber, you're going to have to pony up. We feel that this is the right fit for Dwyane. He no longer is going to be under someone's shadow in Miami. Now that he's here, he can be The Man and unleash all his potential, rather than hold it back while trying to complement Shaq.

We realize we made a mistake and we should have made a more aggressive effort to get him in the 2003 draft. Back then, we could've traded Donyell Marshall to move up in the draft and get Dwyane but we didn't. Today, we've rectified that mistake.

We've got some other young guys who can pick up the slack for Nocioni and Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich. We'll miss them and thank them for their past contributions to this team, but we're really excited about what Dwyane can do for this team.

yeah, it was a stiff trade. i tried to offer a little less but cpu wouldn't take. i guess melanie had a better touch with trades when she was running my last dynasty. i guess i took it for granted!

ah well, it'll make the season more challenging...

lol... most definitely a gratuitous female shot. but what the hey...why not spice things up a bit.

she's supposedly a member of the media so it's not like she's a fish out of water  and the fact that she models a bit is a bonus

Well, ESPN SportsCenter is everywhere, to make sure you get all the breaking news.

Melissa Theuriau is reporting from the Bulls' workout facility, the Berto Center, to tell us about Dwyane Wade's first day of practice as a Bull:

Image

Theuriau: Dwyane Wade arrived late this morning to get acquainted with his new teammates. After meeting with head coach Scott Skiles, he participated in a full practice session with the team. Afterwards, he happily faced the media.

Image

Theuriau: How does it feel to be the undisputed star of your team now that you can come out of Shaq's shadow?

Wade: It's different. In Miami, I had to temper my game to make sure Shaq got his touches. We needed him to stay mentally involved in the game. Here, I can explore my own creativity, whether it's trying to score or trying to put all my teammates in position to succeed.

Theuriau: What's going through your mind now that you're a Bull?

Wade: It's pretty cool. Growing up in Chicago, I was a big Bulls fan. Michael and Scottie were my idols. To be here following in that tradition, helping the team I grew up rooting for...it's kind of surreal.

Theuriau: I guess EA will have to redo their NBA Live 06 covers to put you in a Bulls uni.

Wade: (laughs) Didn't think about that. I'm all for it. Shooting for the cover was fun...I'd do it again.

Theuriau: Are you concerned that teams will double-team you every night since there's no other threat on the Bulls like you had in Miami with Shaq?

Wade: We have some great players on this team. Ben Gordon is an electrifying scorer. Tyson Chandler is very athletic. Colicky Boy is impressive. Michael Sweetney will surprise a lot of people. I hope all the other teams in the league think we have no threats b/c we'll ambush them that way.

Theuriau: Thanks for you time, Dwyane. Good luck in your season opener.

Yeah, he's still in :) You want the pstat file after the first 1/4 games of the season, right? So in a 29-game season, that's what...after 8 games?

The fake ESPN web site has been updated with fake ESPN Motion. Note: the video file is 700k, so it's not dial-up friendly.

Meanwhile, here's a fake ESPN SportsCenter recap of the season opener:

Image

Boxscore

Davis: Dwyane Wade played on his first team as the undisputed superstar of his team when he stepped on the United Center floor for the Bulls season opener.

Zotth: And he showed why he should be the showcase for a team: 56 points, people. That's 56 points Wade dropped on Cleveland. Unfortunately for the Bulls, that wasn't enough. The Bulls lose their first game of the season, 133-127.

Davis: All you fantasy basketball freaks are probably scouring the free agent list for one Kyle Radcliff. Who's he? He's only the Cleveland rookie guard who nearly matched Dwyane Wade's ridiculous output with 54 points of his own. That's right...54 points for the rookie.

Zotth: LeBron James added 29 for the Cavs as Cleveland took advantage of 17 steals to get past the Bulls. The Cavs the entire game. And while the Bulls did manage to tie the game several times, they could never quite get over the hump.

Davis: Tyson Chandler had 20 and 13 for the Bulls, while Ben Gordon added a game-high 10 assists. Cleveland has a great team, Vanessa, and they showed it tonight.

Damn, Radcliff and Wade really went off. Tough to lose in the opener with so much hype going in.
The ESPN Motion is a great addition, I didn't have time to watch it now but I'll make sure to check it out later. Good luck next game!
