LAKERS SIGN NEW GM, HUGE ROSTER CHANGES

It was announced today in the press room that the Los Angeles Lakers have made some massive changes in the past 24 hours, some say the team will never be the same again. To begin with it was announced that the Lakers have hired a new GM just prior to the 2005-2006 season beggining. This new GM is a business man from the UK known as Ryan Bolsworth, who owns several coffee shops accross the United States. But this was only the beggining of the big news as this lead to a massive trade taking place!

ImageImageImageImage

Lakers Receive - Michael Redd, TJ Ford, Dan Gadzuric (all from Milwaukee) Tamar Slay (Free Agent)

Lakers Lose - Kobe Bryant, Brian Cook (Milwaukee) Slava Medevenko (Free Agent)

It is apparent Kobe Bryant was furious upon hearing Bolsworth was hired and seeked to be traded immediatley. Once Milwaukee were notified an offer was put together and sent to the Lakers which Bolsworth accepted with no hesitation. Coach Phil Jackson and Bolsworth have put together a starting line up for the new season which is as follows.

--Starting Five--
C) Dan Gadzuric
PF) Kwame Brown
SF) Lamar Odom - C
SG) Michael Redd
PG) TJ Ford

--Bench---
SF) Devean George
C) Chris Mihm
SF) Luke Walton
C) Andrew Bynum
SG) Von Waifer
SF) Tamar Slay
PG) Aaron Mckie

--Injured Reserves--
SG) Sasha Vujacic
SF) Laron Profit

The Lakers will be facing the Denver Nuggets tonight, minus Kobe for the first time in numerous years. It will be interesting to see how well the team can bond with these massive changes and lack of bonding time together. When Phil Jackson was questioned about how his team will perform tonight he was quoted as saying "when I woke up this morning I did not expect this to happen, nor did anyone else, this is just one of the ups and downs of being an NBA coach I guess. However I have full faith in the four new players we have acquired today."

LOS ANGELES LAKERS(a) 0-0 VS DENVER NUGGETS(h) 1-0

1ST Quarter
LAKERS 24 - NUGGETS 20
The Lakers got off to a flying start with Kwame Brown and Dan Gadzuric dominating the beggining. The got up to a seven point lead at one point. However the Nuggets came back towards the end of the quarter thanks to Carmello Anthony finding some good form. Brown was best for Lakers with 14 points and 4 rebounds in a mammoth first quarter. Anthony took 7 points for the Nuggets.

2ND Quarter
NUGGETS 50 - LAKERS 42
The Nuggets controlled the tempo for the quarter, the Lakers simply couldnt match the intensity they were playing with. Anthony dominated scoring 11 points for the quarter. For the Lakers Brown was getting little help from the rest of the team, however Michael Redd began to show some form finishing the first half with ten points, Brown had 20 points and 6 rebounds. Lamar Odom was benched in this quarter and was not brought back for the whole game. He sat on the bench looking quite frustrated at times.

3rd Quarter
NUGGETS 74 - LAKERS 63
The Nuggets again controlled the pace, with Anthony, Martin and Camby all playing good games. The Lakers simply had no answer for the Nuggets and showed lack of depth at many times during this quarter, with the team basically relying on Kwame Brown and Michael Redd to score.

4TH QUARTER
NUGGETS 94 - LAKERS 77
The Lakers could not come back from the defecit which Denver continued to stretch. They got within 9 points with 2 minutes to go however the Nuggets took off for an easy win. Carmello Anthony continued to play some good minutes for Denver, nobody for the Lakers was able to match him at all.

NUGGETS BEST
Carmello Anthony 32 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist
Voshan Leonard 17 points, 2 assists
Kenyon Martin 15 points, 8 rebounds
Marcus Camby 10 points 10 rebounds

LAKERS BEST
Kwame Brown 32 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks
Michael Redd 23 points, 2 rebounds
TJ Ford 10 points, 8 assists
Dan Gadzuric 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks

I don't agree, he traded a one-man-team for almost a whole team.
He obviously got worse of the SG, but not that much. But huge upgrades on the C and PG, that's exactly where the Lakers lacked talent.
Good luck anyway. (Y)

ps. this is on PC right, where are the pics? :)

I agree with ceekay, Lakers did well out of the trade....dynasty will be more fun with TJ running the show and Gadzuric returning to LA (he's a former UCLA Bruin) than it would be with Kobe....nice trade....

Lakers in disarray!

Postby magik on Fri Nov 11, 2005 3:47 pm

LAKERS IN DISSARAY!

ImageImage

Just 24 hours after the Kobe Bryant trade that has been hammered through the press the LA Lakers today lost yet another disgruntled player. It is rumoured Lamar Odom approaced Phil Jackson after the Lakers loss to Denver and demanded to be traded immediatley! A deal was sorted out with Atlanta, in return Al Harrington will be making his debut with the Lakers tonight! A trade that was reported earlier between Charlotte and the Lakers was cancelled after the Hawks came in with a late offer.

The following are quotes on the matter from some head figures within the Lakers as well as some other well known basketball figures.

LAKERS COACH PHIL JACKSON
This must be almost the most challenging few days in my entire time with the Lakers. Losing Lamar is going to hurt us on the scoreboard however on the positve side that frees up a lot of space in our salary cap. We will now change our approach to this season after the loses of our two best players. This also gives a chance to guys like Gadzuric, Ford and Brown to show that they are future NBA stars. I strongly believe Harrington along with Redd can rebuild this team.

LAKERS GM RYAN BOLSWORTH
After being with this side 3 days I understand that this side has lost a lot. However, being an optimist I saw the need for change and there is nothing better than bringing some fresh faces into our side. While it could take quite some time for us to rebuild, it is no doubt an exciting time for Lakers fans to see how much of an impact the five new players can have on this team.

CHICAGO COACH SCOTT SKILES
After hearing that Kobe had left the Lakers I was in shock, but to see Lamar follow him out the door is even more of a shock. It is going to take a huge effort for all these young guys to step up and take this team back to the top, however I wish them all the luck.

One must wonder whether or not the Lakers will ever be as good as they were when Shaq and Kobe lead them to the top? At this point the only way is up for this team which has been totally destroyed over the past few days!

Ok, nobody get nasty, just doing something a little different, now its time to rebuild the Lakers! I think it would be more fun than just playing with Kobe scoring 45 points a game and making the playoffs, now Im faced with a challenge which I think will be a lot more fun for me.

Lamar for Harrington was a ok trade i think Lamar is more of a scorer and Harrington is the defender.

Harrington has 1 year left on his contract- this year, what about lamar? I suppose you're clearing cap space, good. If I ever get NBA Live for 360 w/ dynasty it's gonna be fun as hell, but im stuck wit nba live 2000 and an n64

I kind of liked the trade. TJ Ford is doing a GREAT job right now. And Redd is to. l know Kobes better than Redd. But I liked the trade. Good dynasty so far.
