Mr.Haso was at his first practice with the team yesterday.

Well that depends what your defenition of a practice is, there wasn't alot of basketball being played. Instead there was alot of talking going on. Representatives from the press were invited to participate in these events.

Reports came from Steven A. Smith on his show Quite Frankly that same night, with live coverage from ESPN reporter: Rachel Nichols.

Steven: Hey, what up guys? Have you heard this wacked stuff buzzing around the Hawks? A completely NBA unexperienced Swedish dude, who only recently hit his 30's have been appointed new GM and co-Head coach with Mike Woodson... Is there anyone else that sees how crazy this is???

Well anyways he is currently holding his first "practice" with the team as we speak, and we have Rachel Nichols at the scene in the Phillips Arena.

Rachel: Thank you Steven, well it's a pretty serious affair right now, the first hour Mr.Haso talked about the team situation, his goals and plans for the ATL-boys and how they would reach these goals.

He really seemed to reach these young guns, and by my side now is Joe Johnson... What was said during the talks Joe?

Joe: Well coach just implemented what he want us to focus on this year, and it's not to go out and be the champs straight away, although I don't think he would mind us doing that (laughs), it's to grow as players and develop as a team.

Rachel: What do you think about Matin (Haso), being so young and all?

Joe: I think it's great, I think he's a great guy and having a young guy, like most of us is a great thing, he has our perspective on things and we really se eye to eye!

Rachel: Steven has something to ask you to Joe

Steven: My man, are you really saying this thing is gonna work?

Joe: Yeah I really think so, of course these first couple of monhts will be a test, because we all need to acclimize to one another. But in the long run I think this franchise is going to blossom.

Steven: Well, there you have it guys, straight from JJ himself, this franchise will blossom... I'm Steven A. Smith ya'll and this is Quite Frankly!

it's on console right now... PS2, so as of now, no picks during games, but some IRL picks always spices up the reading though right?

Mr.Haso took a little time of his schedule yesterday to comment on the current roster.

Matin: I really feel we have an interesting roster, with pleasent depth in the backcourt, guys like Salim Stoudamire, Tyronn Lue, Tony Delk and Josh Childress, and the three spot with JS and AH. And were still planning to get even more powerful. I have some interesting guys being checked out as we speak.

We were hoping to get a glimpse of some of those players, but Mr.Haso was very coi about his thoughts.

Matin: I will release the current depth chart in a day or two...

The Hawks announced today the signing of three additional coaching staff members... They signed a 47 year old assistant coach named Judah Fortson. And 49 year old trainer Ivan Russel who specializes on lags. And last but not least a 50 year old scout named Luke Geary

Judah Fortson, 47: Offense A+ Defense A+ Athletics B Spec: None
Ivan Russell, 49: D- Spec: Legs
Luke Geary, 50: Offense B- Defense A+ Athletics B

And later, just a couple of hours ago Mr.Haso released other big news, they had filled the two open roster spots. Matin announced Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson and Dajuan Wagner as the new aquisitions to the team.

Big Dog signed a one year 4.7 million dollar deal... taking him back to his old neighboorhood of Atlanta.

Dajuan signed a two year 4 million dollar deal getting him two millions a year.

Matin commented these signings like following: I really think these two underrated guys still have plenty to give to this league, and Big Dog in particular provides something this team is severly lacking. Experience, toughness and clutch. Glenn has a nack for hitting those crucial jumpers down the stretch of games when you desperately need it. And Dajuan is still a very young player (22) but still has some experience from his time in Cleveland and Chicago, and he bring us that combo guard of the bech that's explosive, agressive and still has a good stroke with the ball.

I also came very close in talks with some more players, in particular Latrell Sprewell, but in a mutual agreement we would wait and see what happens later on, I'm still looking to make some more roster changes that I'm not going to comment at this moment, but I can tell you that I'm not done here, and Latrell is an interesting option is that oppurtunity arrives.

The Atlanta Hawks are happy to present a new event to this years preseason, a few weeks from training camp Mr.Haso and Mr.Woodson presented an 8 team tournament to support the hurricane Katrina victims, and all of the ticket revenues will go to the aid of the people in need.

Also Hawk players have promised their own gifts, Al Harrington said that for every double double he gets, he will donate $25,000, and if the Hawks come out of the tournament a winner he will donate $100,000

Others players including Tyronn Lue, Salim Stoudamire, Marvin Williams, Glenn Robinson, Josh Smith and Joe Johnson will all donate $5,000 for each point they score...

The games will be played in 4x8 minute quarters and the teams invited will be: New Orleans, Charlotte, Seattle, Portland, Toronto, New York and Orlando

And the start of the tournament will be either tomorrow or thursday depeding on the availability of the different teams and arenas...

The Hawks roster will be the same as released yesterday, on a different note that is also the opening day roster. Mr.Haso has decided to hold for a while with signings and trades and see what this team can accomplish in the preseason.

"While this whole thing is for a good cause it's still a tournament and an additional chance to scope out the competition who will probably be battling for the lower spots in the league, and we of course want to take advantage of an opportunity like this" Matin said about his thoughts on the tournament

nice start....good thing about the Hawks are that they have never been settled on players so lots of trades is realistic for them

nice to see Big Dog back in Atlanta, although you probably overpaid a little, but if he plays anything like his days past then he'll be alright....a little surprised you went for 2 wingmen considering that was the Hawks' strength already....would have liked to have seen a big guy and a PG brought in....maybe you have a trade in the works

looking for big things from Childress, he's a keeper....the rest of them can all be traded for all I care

good luck with this, you'll need it

Thanks alot X, I know my needs of improvement lies in the frontcourt, and we'll have to do something about that.
I kinda swing the other way... The one player out of those guys that I could let go is in fact Josh Childress... :P

But we'll just have to see how things map out :D

Sorry been very busy haven't had time to check these things...
Very good acquisitions getting Glenn Robinson who brings leadership and experience to this very young Hawks team and Wagner gives you even more septh in the backcourt. Too bad you're benching Marvin Williams though...
