It's an ok cover, but I think there is a little too much going on in the background and there should be only a few main things in a magazine that should really catch your eye.

I agree with that - good luck anyway, you`ll need it cause toronto lost D. Marshall this off-season and he played amazing last year.

Pre - Game Raptors vs. Cavaliers

Image vs. Image

Key Matchup

Mo Pete vs. Larry Hughes
The shooting guards will go at each other in this preseason game. Although this may seem a completely mismatch in terms of numbers, on the court, it is totally different. Mo Pete is considered Toronto's best perimeter defender in the 04-05 season. He was asked to guard alot of the opponents star guards. Larry Hughes, although a All-NBA First Defensive team, is not a very good one on one defender and gets alot of steals off team defense like intercepting passes. Larry Hughes has the ability to take people off the bounce, but Mo Pete can go at him one on one as well and possibly draw some fouls on him. Mo Pete also has a very good outside touch, while Hughes is more of a player who likes to drive the ball in and possibly set his teammates up.

Inside the Raptors

The Raptors are now 2-2 in their preseason schedule. Coach Sam Mitchell said yesterday in practice that he has pretty much got his roster set. "The 1-4 spot are pretty much set. There really isn't much to move around in those spots, but the 5 is still up for grabs. Right now, other than the center position, the coaching staff and I have agreed that we've seen pretty much what everyone can do. We're still going to let the young guys get more time on the floor so they won't be rusty on opening night. The roster is pretty much set, and now, our main focus is to set the tone for the season and get a few "W"s and hopefully, get our guy's confidence up. "

Inside The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have gone through and extreme change in their offseason. GM Danny Ferry had 30 million in cap space and he knew exactly what to do with it. He resigned All-Star Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and acquired star guard Larry Hughes to take the pressure off LeBron in terms of scoring. He acquired former Toronto Raptor Donyell Marshall, and former Heat guard Damon Jones to help with their perimeter shooting. The Cavaliers were almost at the bottom of the standings in terms of field goal percentage. Talk about a GM walking into a perfect scenario. He also turned the Cavaliers from playoff contenders to Eastern Conference Championship contenders, and possibily, Title contenders.

Projected Starters:

Raptors:
C - Loren Woods
PF - Chris Bosh
SF - Jalen Rose
SG - Morris Peterson
PG - Mike James

Cavaliers:
C - Zydrunas Ilgauskas
PF - Drew Gooden
SF - LeBron James
SG - Larry Hughes
PG - Eric Snow

Nice work man! (Y)

The Cavs will be hard to beat as you mentioned they are strong this year - tough game. You should try to get a Center or put Bosh there and get a decent PF (don`t know if you still got Villanueva).

I´ll be watching this one...

The Raps get run over in Cleveland

LeBron and the reloaded Cavaliers ran over the Raptors Sunday night

Cleveland, Oct. 23 (Ticker) The Cavaliers showed everyone why they are a contender for the Eastern Conference Championship. Newcomer Larry Hughes poured in 37 points and 6 assists to lead the Cavaliers past the Raptors.

The Cavaliers were certainly loaded with scoring ability, with 4 out of the 5 starters in double figures. King James had 19, Eric Snow had 23, Big Z had 17 and Hughes capped it off with 37. The four combined for 97 of the Cavs 125 points. The other major offseason signings Damon Jones and Donyell Marshall played limited minutes and came off the bench to score 9 and 4 points respectively. Donyell Marshall also added 3 boards in his first game against his former club.

The Raptors were terribily out rebounded, getting out rebounded by 15 (42-27), one area that Sam Mitchell has stressed over the entire month of preseason. On offense, the Raptors were fine. They showed that they could really move the ball, getting 32 assists compared to the 19 of Cleveland. The Raps were lead by Mike James who had 11 assists, and Jose Calderon, who came off the bench and added 7 assists to the score board as well. One bright point regarding the defense was that they out "stole" the Cavaliers, getting 14 steals compared to Cleveland's 9, who had the league leaders in steals in the guys of LeBron James and Larry Hughes. With this loss, the Raptors fall to 2-3 in the preseason.

Although this was a L in the record books for preseason, Sam Mitchell saw many bright spots in the young guys. Charlie Villanueva had another solid performance with 14 points and 6 boards. Athletic rookie Joey Graham played limited minutes because of left knee tendinitis, only had 4 points due to the defense of LeBron and Larry Hughes, but still delievered a spectacular reverse windmill dunk and played solid defense, adding 2 steals. Coach Sam Mitchell was also very impressed with rookie Jose Calderon and his ability to push the ball up the floor and create easy oppourtunities for his teammates.

The Raptors will now fly home and face the Portland Trailblazers on Monday night.

Pre-Game Toronto vs. Portland

Image

Key Matchup

Image vs. vs. Image

Scott: It's time now to take a look at the preaseason game between the Raptors and the Blazers. Kenny, your thoughts on the Raptors?

Smith: Well I don't think that the Raptors are that bad as the people on NBA TV predicted. The Raptors are pretty solid other than their center position. They got help in rebounding and athleticism with their draft picks Villanueva and Graham. They are definitely rebuilding, but with the play of Chris Bosh right now, they aren't far away from the playoffs.

Scott: How about the Trailblazers?

Smith: I think the Trailblazers were real smart on Draft night. They really didn't need the 3rd pick to select Martell Webster, who was available at 6. They also got a guy in Jarrett Jack, who I think is a real solid player. Those two for Deron Williams work out pretty well for the Blazers. They didn't need a PG anyway. They got Sebastian Telfair, who has a huge upside.

Scott: Your thoughts on the Key Matchup tonight.

Smith: I gotta go with Chris Bosh on this one. This guy has been an absolute monster in the preseason, averaging 33 points, 9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He's really taking this franchaise on his back. As for Zach Randolph, its questionable how effective how he'll be because he just had microfracture surgery. These surgeries can be real devestating to a player. Only J-Kidd recovered fully, but if his knee doesn't affect him, This will be a real good matchup. Randolph was a solid 20 and 10 last year.

Scott: Last question, who do you think will win this preseason game?

Smith: That's a tough choice. Both teams are rebuilding, and have some impressive rookies on their squad. To me, both teams have a chance to win. We'll see how it goes..

Scott: Now, let's look at the next game...Chicago and Boston.....

Comments on my new format??

The new format's really good. I like how you have the screenshot in between that guy and Kenny Smith, and it's an interview instead of just "blah blah blah is doing blah blah blah". They are small things, but I think that they both vastly improve the overall look of the preview.

Raptors Roared to Victory

Graham was flying high on Monday, and absolutely posterizing Randolph

Toronto (CP) - The Raptors came away with a victory against the Portland Trailblazers Monday night with a comfortable 12 point margin. Chris Bosh was at it again, putting up solid stats with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Sebastian Telfair was not far behind, putting up 26 points as well, and adding 8 assists, making the Blazer feel confident that letting free agent Damon Stoudimere walk away to Memphis was a good decision.

The Raptors lead through out the whole game. At the 3:31 mark, they were up 20-18, and they never looked back. In the fourth quarter, the Raptors allowed the Blazers to get as close as 8, but Joey Graham, the rookie out of Oklahoma State, put the dagger in their hearts with a nasty fast break right over Zach Randolph.

The Raptors also got an emotional lift from the return of Alvin Williams. The Raptor guard hasn't played a single NBA game since March of 2004, rehabing that right knee from microfracture surgery. Williams saw action in the second quarter. When he walked on to the court, the sparse crowd of 14, 237 at the Air Canada center gave him a standing ovation. Williams did not disappoint, scoring 5 points and delievered 2 assists in 10 minutes of play.

Another highlight(s) of the day was the atheltisim of Joey Graham. The product from Oklahoma State poured in 22 points tonight, after playing limited minutes in his last 3 games because of left knee tendinitis. He had a few highlights that would stick in Raptors fans minds for a while. Tonight, his victim was Zach Randolph and he absolutely posterized him in 2 dunks: 1 vicious one handed leaner and another 2 handed slam. He's making a name in the preseason already, as the next "Air Canada" in the house.

A definite bright spot on the Blazers side was the play of Sebastian Telfair. He was coasting down the Raptors defense in the first half, lighting them up for 12 points in that quarter. Zach Randolph also had a pleasent outing (despite the fact he got posterized by Graham), scoring a quiet 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Rookie Martell Webster displayed some hot shooting, delievering 21 points.

The Raptors will face the Blazers once again in the Rose Garden on Wednesday night.

It's good to see that Graham bounced back and played well after the first few games. I see Martell Webster also hit some shots and I'm hoping he'll turn out to be a very good player in the future.
