Beaten up by Gangsters

Postby Stevan on Wed Apr 09, 2003 1:36 am

Well ok not really, but it kind of feels like it.
I had my basketball final tonight and I thought I'd share. My team won by 4 points but boy did we have to earn it. I'm so sore right now, I really got pounded. My stat line: 14points (12 in the second half), 14 rebounds, 6 blocks, 1 steal & 5 turnovers. The other team was really physical, and they've played dirty all season long (bunch of John Stocktons they are!) but we got them tonight.
I got boxed out in the first half once so effectively that the guys elbow connected with my face, and I bit my tongue. Bastard. Then at the end of the first half a team mate set me up for a drive, I went to the basket and had my legs taken out, landing on my back and left elbow, with full force. That's really gonna hurt tomorrow but it was worth it. God I love winning! :D

Its kinda funny that you get beat up by "a bunch of John Stocktons"... imagine what it would be if you had some Michael Curry Wannabes... he is vicious...

I wish more people on the court stopped crying about fouls... NO BLOOD, NO FOUL is what i say...

You should have at least return the elbow... I mean, you can still get a flagrant one and still play, right?

Again Stevan!?

I remember you kept telling me, almost 2 years ago, on MSN, how you got beaten up by those 12-year old kids...

Shame on you... :?

lol Tales...

My elbow's a bit swolen but not too bad. Everything hurts today but I knew it would. Besides all their dirty tactics really fired me up for the second half. I wish I could play every game with this much intensity, Zo style.

Hey Tales, what about that time you got jumped by a nasty gang of male Hairdressers? That would have been worse than my experience last night... I mean they probably styled your hair and plucked your eye brows! And being in Brazil... imagine the wax job! Ouch! :P

You should have at least return the elbow... I mean, you can still get a flagrant one and still play, right?

Yeah I could still play after a flagrant... and have my ass handed to me after the game :D Nah that's just not me, the score board is all that counts.

My buddy Luke got hit in the nuts right in the first minute of the game... he went on to win Finals MVP :)

thanks Stooge. I always play extra hard in semi finals and finals, not that I don't try during the regular season but in the finals the intensity level goes way up... why? because of all those Jordan tapes I watch :D hehe...

Oh, that means your motivation is old fashion or you watch the videos of the old guy he is today? If anyone wants to be motivated, specially a Center or PF, should watch the Shaq/Olajuwon videos, not Robert Parish's videos.

Scubi I had no idea what you were on about... then I read your post another three times and now I think I understand.

I have watched mainly old tapes because that's what I have... but the MJ of today would probably be even more inspirational to watch and not the other way around.

Lol! Olajuwon and Michael came in the same year so how would one be "old fashioned" and the other not?

Hmm that would make sense, but MJ's game was copied by tmac, kobe, vince etc (all shlashers who added mid and long range shots to their games and also worked on their defense) so MJ isn't old fashioned. Apart from Tim Duncan, there is no POST player that has the shooting touch or footwork hakeem had, so that would make him more old fashioned than MJ

Nope. What makes you think they copied MJ's game and not Dr. J's or Dominique's?

No, that would make him more original cause not everyone can copy his moves. Plus, Olajuwon kept his moves til he retired and that was not long ago, however MJ couldn't keep his moves.

I'm not going to explain a lot to you from now on cause I know you can't understand a lot of things around the forum, and that shows me the problem is not me. But, if you didn't understand what I said, you should take a good rest, I think you need it.

Well, I don't think so but can be taken as an opinion.

Yao Ming seems to be showing some hakeem like moves, not as good but similar. he also copied his game after him i think.

That's irrelivent. The point I was making is MJ's game was very similar to Kobe's, T-mac's, Michael Finely, Vince Carter Jason Richardosn etc etc. I should've said resembled instead of copied.
No, that would make him more original cause not everyone can copy his moves

That would make his moves old fashioned or obselete because he is no longer around and no one has been able to emulate them. Think of the sky hook. If someone takes it today, it is viewed as a (very) old fashioned shot.
however MJ couldn't keep his moves

Hm, MJ's bread and butter is still his fadeaway. So Mj has kept his moves. The only move I'm assuming he can't do is dunking from 10 feet out...
Yao Ming seems to be showing some hakeem like moves, not as good but similar. he also copied his game after him i think.

To me Yao Ming reminds me alot of Rik Smits rather than Hakeem. Hakeem had much smarter post moves and cat-like footwork. Rik smit's used his long arms for a jump hook and had a decent face up jumpshot... which is like yao ming.

however MJ couldn't keep his moves.

Like Matthew said, what's changed? He still posted up these last 2 years with the same moves he used from 95-98, and he still penetrated etc (although maybe not as effectively and quickly as in previous years). The up and unders, shoulder fakes etc. were still very much there.

Yeah, I agree, the same thing I had to do to get "why your intensity level would go up" watching MJ tapes, obviously. If you were watching MJ of today, I don't think there's any motivation on not making the playoffs.

Let me slow it down for you:
1) I'm a Michael Jordan fan, he is my favourite player of all time.
2) Watching tapes of Michael Jordan (Jordan 1, 2 or 3) pumps me up.
3) I do not care for the Washington Wizards, and as much as I want Jordan's team to win, Michael Jordan is what interests me. It is inspirational watching him play considerably well at the age of 40. To come back for a third time and still be a pretty good player impresses me. The Wizards not making the playoffs is irrelevant.
So in short, the motivation comes from watching the greatest player of all time still playing.

Everybody is different, everybody draws inspiration or motivation from different things, and for you to question my motivation (something which comes from the gut or your heart basically) is unfair.

If a thing is me like you stated, you will need a much better & developed brain to understand me. However the only 'thing' you don't understand, John Mullins, is that it is required to have a brain in order to understand "things".

Stevan wrote:Everybody is different, everybody draws inspiration or motivation from different things, and for you to question my motivation (something which comes from the gut or your heart basically) is unfair.

Let me make this clear to you, so you don't have to read this 3 times.

1. I'm not insulting you by asking you a question, am I?
2. Everybody is different, so everybody might have questions and curiosity of what is motivating you.
3. And no, it is not unfair to ask questions since this is a forum where everyone can ask if they feel so, plus I do have the Guts but also have the rights to ask as well.

OK?, did you understand that?.

Stevan wrote:what's changed? He still posted up these last 2 years with the same moves he used from 95-98

In fact, that was not the Air Jordan everyone used to mention before.

1. I'm not insulting you by asking you a question, am I?

Did I say I was insulted? It appeared to me that you didn't understand what I was saying so I tried to simplify it for you.

You can ask whatever questions you want, but when you do it in your usual smartass "my opinion is better than yours" way, i.e:

Oh, that means your motivation is old fashion or you watch the videos of the old guy he is today? If anyone wants to be motivated, specially a Center or PF, should watch the Shaq/Olajuwon videos, not Robert Parish's videos.

...then you're bound to get some replies. In the above quote you basically told me what should motivate me! Motivation is a feeling, and if you think it's ok for you to question why something pumps me up before a basketball game, and simultaneously take a shot at my favourite basketball player, then you're obviously just posting to stir.

why are you going on about me not having a brain? obviously everyone has a brain scubilete. obviously you havn't attended any schooling what so ever. All you are saying to me is that you having been living in a dark cardboard box for your whole life until you mother gave you a computer a year ago
