Nope, when you have a matchup in your favour and score three consecutive baskets with a player the opponent does double team. But not Dallas. Not long until 06!

Cheers. The weirdest thing was Anthony making three-pointers, I never could with him.

Thanks for your support .LA., nbalive744, Sensation, Sac-1!

Dallas gave the game away just too easy, it's a shame they let me go one-on-one against their weak defenders.

Not playing today, but tomorrow night or Monday the Spurs game should already be up!

CAVS PLAY DREAM GAME IN SAN ANTONIO

Cleveland 96
San Antonio 84

Cleveland Cavs played easily their best game of the season so far when they beat San Antonio Spurs at the SBC Center last night. It was a great games from a team with so many inconsistent performances to date. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 24 points against Nazr Mohammed, Jeff McInnis hit two three-pointers to get 10 and four assists, Anthony Peeler had a solid 11, Ira Newble made an amazing three-basket run for six points and Luke Jackson had four points. LeBron James was consistent as ever with 24, while Drew Gooden had 12 and 14. Cleveland made six three-pointers, a very rare feat from an inside-shooting team. They also played relentless defence, jumping up at every rebound, hustling their opponent and making several interceptions. The Cavs only had five turnovers, a very solid number in that category as well. As for the Spurs, they didn't really show up except for point guard Tony Parker, who led the way with 15 points and six assists. Manu Ginobili had 14 and Tim Duncan only 13, with five rebounds and five blocks, a very mediocre game from the Spurs star.

"This is what we can do when everyone plays a good game. We definitely need to do this more often if we want to reach the playoffs. We have had way too many games where there's only been maybe two of us scoring", said Cavs star LeBron James.

The Cavs travel to L.A. next week to meet the Lakers.

Starters:
Cleveland (5-10 before game)
C Z. Ilgauskas
F D. Gooden
F L. James
G I. Newble
G J. McInnis

San Antonio (8-1 before game)
C N. Mohammed
F T. Duncan
F B. Bowen
G M. Ginobili
G T. Parker

Player of the game:
Gooden CLE 12/14

Box scores:

Spurs

James had 17 points in the first half.

McInnis had a much better game than usual and also made two threes.

air's note:
I played my best game yet but I also had my best fortune yet. Usually I make zero three-pointers but this time James and McInnis made them and Peeler got one open look. Ilgauskas was unstoppable and James had every jumper falling in the first half.

James and Big Z leads the Cavs again, that is good news and lets hope they both can provide this type of performances again in their next game. Peeler was amazing, 3/3 from downtown. So far so good. Goodluck on your game against the Lakers.

Thanks for your support Kemp40, Sensation!!

I think a lot goes down to me switching the controlled player more often. I foul more often but I also make tougher shots for the CPU. I might add a touch more difficulty to the sliders if I keep playing this way. Then again, my players have been much better on the offence too.

Game and "article" coming up.

CAVS ARE ON A ROLL AFTER WIN IN L.A.

Cleveland 98
LA Lakers 84

Cleveland Cavs extended their winning streak after another great victory. They brought the intensity to the Staples Center and outscored the Lakers in the first and second quarters, and had the game all but wrapped up by half time with a 46-32 lead. It was again a very solid team performance, led by LeBron James' 32 points. Robert Traylor made up for his poor showing against San Antonio with 22 points, most of them in the first half as he used his strength against Luke Walton. The rest of the Cavs starters Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Drew Gooden, Jeff McInnis and Ira Newble also produced decent figures and the whole team played very good defence once again. The Lakers players were held to average figures, Kobe Bryant did manage to score 20 but his points came too late in the game.

"This is exactly what I called for after the win at San Antonio", said James. "I'm so glad the team responded."

The Cavs return home to meet the Clippers next week.

Starters:
Cleveland (6-10 before game)
C Z. Ilgauskas
F D. Gooden
F L. James
G I. Newble

Why it's all coming together
by Chuck Collins, cleveland.com sports writer

After a tough losing streak, it looks as though it's all coming together for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have now beaten Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers, all hard teams to win. These are some of the reasons for the Cavs' success.

Three-point shooting
The Cavs have no real long-range shooter other than Anthony Peeler, who has not featured much in the games. It seems the coaching staff are not content with Peeler's displays, but Jeff McInnis and LeBron James have both emerged as potential outside threats. There was a point in the season where both of these guys would hesitate when they received the ball on the perimeter, but in recent games they have taken their open shots with confidence and it shows.

Defence
There's no real secret here. The Cavs still play their half court man-to-man defence, but they have been much more intense with it recently. Instead of going for unlikely steals, they stick to their man and box out. Simple as. When there is no weak link on the defence, double-teams won't be needed. This way no players are left open and that counts for harder shots.

LeBron James
For the Cavs to succeed, James has to play well. But he has done more than that by increasing his scoring to 30 points-a-game standard instead of the 20 to 25 he had early in the season. His shooting percentage has gone up because his jump shots have been deadly. His three-point shooting has also been a major factor.

Exploiting defensive matchups
The Cavs have been playing smart basketball. They know when there is a matchup they can take advantage of and everyone in the team is aware of it. And they don't just take advantage of it, they have completely dominated patches of the game when there's been a matchup in their favour. Robert Traylor can muscle out dozens of power forwards in the league, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas showed Spurs' Robert Horry he is no real center.

Jeff McInnis and Ira Newble
The most disappointing players in the team have stepped up in the last couple of games. McInnis has knocked down some threes and used his speed to get to the basket, while making good assists to players around him. Newble has shown that his will to score alone can get him points.

Anderson Varejao
Varejao had seven rebounds and one block in Cleveland's win against the Los Angeles Lakers. He has played center more often than power forward, which is his preferred position, and despite not being incredibly strong, he has the talent and height to be a defensive force.

CLIPPERS DEFEND TO END CAVS' WINNING STREAK

LA Clippers 83
Cleveland 72

LA Clippers made a great defensive display to end the Cleveland Cavs' three-game winning streak. From the beginning it was clear that the Cavs would not get anything easy. Points were hard to come by and whenever they got close, the Clippers pulled away by shooting accurately. A lot of the things which helped the Cavs get their three wins did not happen. Three-point shots would not fall and the team committed way too many turnovers. LeBron James got almost no help from his teammates in scoring and found it very hard himself. He got his points with jump shots because the Clippers defended the lane extremely well. James still finished with 31, but he was the only real scoring option the Cavs had in the entire game because the rest of the team could not find ways to score on their defenders. The Clippers did what the Cavs couldn't do, which was sharing their scoring. Elton Brand had 16, Kerry Kittles had 15, Jaric and Korolev had 11 each and Chris Kaman came up with 13 and 14 rebounds to make him player of the game.

"It's too bad we had to lose. We were all looking forward to extending our winning streak in this home game", said Cavs point guard Jeff McInnis, who failed to make an assist. "We couldn't help LeBron enough and that's why we didn't win, but credit the Clippers for their defence."

The Cavs have another game on the road next, against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Starters:
LA Clippers (12-6 before game)
C C. Kaman
F E. Brand
F C. Maggette
G K. Kittles
G M. Jaric

Cleveland (7-10 before game)

Thanks for your support CWebbIverson, Clippertalk! Welcome to my thread.

The games are being posted quite frequently now, after this Wolves game I only have two before All-Star Weekend. I have time now and hopefully it's not too overwhelming to have several new recaps here. Well, check out what you feel like and thanks for your support.

TIMBERWOLVES RUN OVER CAVS

Cleveland 79
Minnesota 97

Cleveland Cavs suffered a heavy defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minnesota last night. A Kevin Garnett-inspired performance saw the Timberwolves outplay Cleveland in all areas, shooting .570 from the field and rebounding 35 times to Cavs' 25. In the third quarter it was already clear there would be no way back for the Cavs. LeBron James scored 31 points, but he was again the only impressive player on his team. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 12 points but only two rebounds, while Drew Gooden could only score six in addition to his 10 rebounds. Jeff McInnis made five assists but his five points is another poor figure in what is becoming a below par season for the point guard. Kevin Garnett played an amazing game with good numbers in several categories, while Sam Cassell had 20 points and six assists. Latrell Sprewell had 18 and seven rebounds, and Michael Olowokandi got 10 and 9 plus seven blocks.

"They were the better team", said Cavs forward Anderson Varejao. "They shot and rebounded so well we had no chance."

The Cavs continue their games against Western Conference teams by facing Sacramento next.

Starters:
Cleveland (7-11 before game)
C Z. Ilgauskas
F D. Gooden
F L. James
G I. Newble
G J. McInnis

Minnesota (9-5 before game)
C M. Olowokandi
