steve nash is definitely more of a three point threat then casey jacobsen. steve nash broke kobe's record for most three pointers in a game for me.

Wasn't Casey Jacobson traded to New Orleans in the Jim Jackson deal?!

weed manus, isn't that the old list based off last season, and the same one posted on November 30th in this thread?

I've found a lot of errors and outdated information in it. For example, the Nets and Kings use Princeton Offense (Not in 2004, is it in 2005? Anyway it's closest to Sideline Triangle), the Lakers use Horns (Double High) and Sideline Triangle, the Cavaliers use UCLA (Utah), and the 76ers use a 1-4 set and Isolations for AI. And that's just the teams listed under Motion.

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable basketbal fan, but I really don't know what the differences are between 1-4 High, Double-High, Flex, or Motion offenses in the Team Strategy menu.

Anyone know where I can get at least a partial description of those offenses?

Also, what do you find effective?

I know the first post is old, but some of those are befuddling. Ben Gordon as a lock-down defender?! Rashard Lewis?! Derek Anderson?! They are complete defensive liabilities (DA to a lesser extent). Finley is a bit more reasonable, but the Mavs always, always turn to Josh Howard who has done a fine job on superstar wing players. Igoudala is the 76ers' lockdown defender. JJ covers the wing players for the Suns. Rafer Alston, when it should be MoPete?! Just some quick thoughts, didn't go through all of them.

Also, there were teams that hardly ever play the 2-3 zone that are listed to be playing the 2-3 zone. Example: Boston. They used to play a 2-3 zone/sagging man hybrid, but not anymore. Zone looks are only thrown out by teams on occasion.

If the 1-4 High in Live is anything like the 1-4 set in offense, then there shouldn't be a single team that runs this set consistently. The 1-4 is used very rarely and you see it most often at the end of quarters, when a team with a good penetrating guard is holding for the last shot. (A 1-4 set is one guard, usually the Point, at the top of the key, and the other 4 down along the baseline, with the wing players around the 3 pt line. It generally starts off with all 4 players in a 'line', but once the 1 breaks down his defender, you'll usually see at least one player come up and a big man vacate his spot for a wing jumper).

What happened to the diagrams for the plays that were in the game last year?

I use Ballscreen 1 to get my SG's open in the post, there is most likely a ballscreen play that does the same for the SF

Yea, I hate to correct you, but your information on the Miami Heat is incorrect.

What you put:
Miami
Best Offensive Play: Post Up W/Shaq
Three-Point Threat: Damon Jones
Best Defense: Man to man
Lockdown Defender: Dwayne Wade
Inside Scoring: Shaq

What you should have put:
Miami
Best Offensive Play: Post Up W/Shaq
Three-Point Threat: Eddie Jones
Best Defense: Man to man
Lockdown Defender: Dwayne Wade
Inside Scoring: Shaq

Eddie Jones is a better 3 point shooter then Damon Jones, even though Damon has a better 3 point rating. I'm sure alot of people will agree with me there.

Postby kimat on Tue Jun 14, 2005 4:26 pm

why dont use dallas instead, do a post up on bradley then do a pick to get nowitzki above to rim then do a quick turn around jumper?

Best thing to do is play with a really good defensive team like San Antonio and throw the full court press on the opposing team.. block off all inbound options.. also pisses off the opponent
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.
