The Contender Season II (Beware of *Spoilers*)

Postby Jackal_ on Sun Aug 14, 2005 4:54 am

I heard just now The Contender will be returning for a second season, thats awesome.. I got glued in after the first show. Are you a fan? Enjoy watching the show and the fights?

"The Contender" is an unscripted drama about the lives of 16 professional boxers as they compete for the chance to change their lives. The show will air as part of ESPN Original Entertainment (EOE) programming and be executive produced by "Survivor" creator Mark Burnett, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Sylvester Stallone. Casting and production on the series, which will air in primetime beginning April 2006, will begin immediately.

" 'The Contender' has all of the elements that make it the right fit for ESPN: compelling storylines, dynamic characters and suspense over the outcome," Mark Shapiro, ESPN executive vice president, programming and production, said. "This series speaks to our viewers' love for competition and their appreciation for triumph over adversity, and it goes without saying that the track record of Mark Burnett is exemplary -- a perfect match for the critical and ratings successes EOE has delivered in both scripted and unscripted drama."

Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

Fuck yeah!!! I'm a big fan. Season 1 is currently showing here. The only bad thing about it is that the whole show is translated to spanish (N)

Yikes.. lol. That one guy committed suicide after he lost a fight.. Najai Turpin.. they don't really talk much about it until after the season is done.. kinda sad.. he left behind a daughter.

He didn't kill himself because of that necessarily... I did a Google search, he killed himself MONTHS after the competition was over and it was going to be aired on TV. The actual reason for him doing it is only really speculation by newspapers n stuff.

 Somebody put a spoiler alert somewhere...
Hahaha, LMFAO...I went to the Contender's webpage to find out who won before the first episode aired here, but still, it's a damn good show, IMO.
