MIAMI - The Miami Heat are a big step up from the Bulls' previous opponent, the expansion Charlotte Bobcats.
However, the result was nearly identical. The Bulls led by only 6 points after one quarter, but extended to a 15-point lead by halftime and continued to expand the lead until the final 129-99 disrobing of Miami at American Airlines Arena.![]()
------Epic battle: Amare vs Shaq ----------------Shaq says no to James------
Amare Stoudemire returned to action after being shelved with a sprained wrist and gave the Bulls a big psychological boost with 6 blocked shots. "I'm OK," said Stoudemire. "You don't want to face Shaq in your first game back from injury, especially if you're still not 100%. But it is what it is."![]()

Stoudemire finished with 17 points, 4 boards and 4 assists while Shaquille O'Neal had a spectacular game: 27 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and 7 blocks.
"I think he's still out there blocking shots," joked Colicky Boy of Shaq.
Colicky Boy had an unconventional double-double with a game-high 40 points and 11 steals to go with 7 assists. Dwyane Wade returned to his stomping grounds with 28 points, 8 assists and 2 blocks.
"No big deal," Wade insisted.
The Bulls (70-3) reached 70 wins faster than any team in league history.
"Not sure if they'll ever lose again," said former Bull Ben Gordon, who scored 19 points. "I don't see any weaknesses. The Bulls were already pretty tough when I was on the team."
LeBron James had 26 points, 7 rebounds and a game-high 9 assists for the Bulls. Damon Jones added 26 points and 8 assists for the Heat but committed 10 turnovers. Former Bull Andres Nocioni scored 6 points for Miami.

ORLANDO - In a possible preview of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Bulls sent a message to Orlando.
Consider the message sent loud and clear after the Bulls manhandled the Magic 125-84 at the TD Waterhouse Centre. The Bulls led from start to finish, jumping out to an astounding 44-19 lead after the first quarter.
"We knew we might face them in the playoffs and we wanted to let them know who we were," said Bulls center Amare Stoudemire, who had 25 points, a game-high 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks despite a sore wrist.
"We can't let them get any confidence going into the playoffs thinking that they can compete with us," agreed LeBron James, who scored a game-high 34 points to go with 6 boards, 7 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals.
The Bulls (71-3) did not allow any Magic player to get to 20 points.
"Our defense was pretty good," said Dirk Nowitzki, who blocked 5 shots. "That fuels our offense sometimes."
The offense recorded 39 assists, including 10 from the bench. Dwyane Wade contributed 24 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for the Bulls.
Orlando, however, was without injured superstar Steve Francis, who has a bone spur in his ankle. Jameer Nelson led the Magic (34-41) with 19 points and 6 assists but also committed 6 turnovers. Rookie Dwight Howard was limited to 9 points and 3 rebounds while Grant Hill was held to 14 points, no rebounds and no assists.
"We were without Francis," rationalized Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu, who scored 6 points in 7 minutes. "Steve changes everything in how we play."
The Bulls won the second game of this three-game road trip.
"Man, this is a grind," said Colicky Boy, who dropped 23 points, 6 rebounds, a game-high 9 assists and 6 steals on the Magic. "I wish the playoffs would start already."

NEW YORK - Isaiah Thomas's search for a new head coach probably couldn't start soon enough. While he's at it, he should get some new players too.
Four Bulls players scored at least 26 points each as the Bulls (72-3) thrashed New York at Madison Square Garden 139-108.
Amare Stoudemire, despite a sore wrist, scored 30 points with 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Dwyane Wade poured in 34 points, a game-high 12 assists and 5 rebounds. Colicky Boy added 31 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. And LeBron James had 26 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. For good measure, Dirk Nowitzki contributed 14 points and 7 assists.
"We were all rolling," said Stoudemire. "We went down the court on each possession wanting the ball."
"Our defense was pretty pathetic," said Knicks guard Allan Houston, who scored 16 off the bench. "They all scored. I mean, their coach could've come in and scored if he wanted to."
This win ties the Bulls with the 1995-96 squad for most wins in a season. The Bulls have seven regular season games left to break the record.
"It's an honor to tie the record," said James. "But we want to break it. And we want to set the record so high, no one will ever come close."
With the Bulls up 11, former Bull Jamal Crawford suffered an arm injury with 8:44 left in the second quarter. The injury wasn't serious as Crawford returned for the second half.
"Just tweaked something," said Crawford, who was held to 15 points. "I'm fine."
Stephon Marbury led all scorers with 39 points for the Knicks (27-48).
"They couldn't stop me," said Marbury. "I thought they had a good defense. I guess not."
"He can get his individual accolades," said Wade. "But we'll be in the playoffs and he'll have to watch on TV."

Raptors nearly bite off Bulls win

A day at the beach almost turned into a drowning.
The Bulls nearly squandered a 28-point halftime lead and a 22-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, holding on for a tense 100-96 win over Toronto at the United Center.
"I almost pulled out the remaining hair on my head," said Bulls head coach Scott Skiles in half-jest.
The Bulls (73-3) were seemingly on their way to another cakewalk when the comeback began. Raptor shots wouldn't miss. Combined with Raptors getting steals off the Bulls and Bulls missing shots, the lead dwindled to only four points with under two minutes to play.
Stoudemire hits the finger roll
"We weren't nervous," said Dirk Nowitzki, who scored 12 points. "But we were definitely not executing. That made us frustrated, and it was like a vicious cycle."
Toronto (28-48) intentionally fouled Dwyane Wade and he uncharacteristically missed 4 of 6 free throws.
"Maybe I felt the pressure a little bit," conceded Wade. "Especially when I would miss the front end. Then I would try harder to hit the second free throw and I might've tightened up on that too."
Fortunately for the Bulls, Toronto couldn't capitalize, missing 2 of 3 shots between those Wade free throws.
"Wasted possessions," said Toronto's Morris Peterson, who scored 23 points.
LeBron James was then intentionally fouled with the Bulls leading only 97-94 with 34 seconds left. Even he missed one of the two foul shots.
"It was contagious," said James of the suddenly poor free-throw shooting. "Kinda like the Twilight Zone, except we pulled out the win."
After James' free throw made it 98-94, Jalen Rose hit a long two to cut the lead to 98-96 with 20 seconds left. Wade was fouled intentionally again.
"I was definitely nervous then," said Wade. "I didn't want to choke."
Fortunately for the Bulls, Wade finally made both free throws to push the lead to 100-96, and Rose missed a shot to end the game.
"Wow, what a game," said Colicky Boy, who scored a team-high 23 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. "Crazy. Totally crazy."
Amare Stoudemire, who was declared 100% before the game, added 22 points for the Bulls, while Rose had a game-high 26 points for Toronto. Raptors Chris Bosh and Donyell Marshall tied for game-high rebounding honors with 9 each.
"They had an incredible comeback at the end," said Skiles. "We usually snuff out comebacks but this one had us on our heels. We were dazed, confused and disorganized out there. We were very lucky to get this win."
"Games like this are great preparation for the playoffs and for games like our next one against defending champ Detroit," said James. "We haven't been stretched too much this season, and we should be tested more often."
