][A New Day][ New York Knick's Dynasty. [Press Conference]

Postby .LA. on Fri Aug 05, 2005 5:08 am

Ok first off, Im doing this ALONG with the Atlanta Hawk's dynasty. If I cant do both, this one will be dropped. I will either be doing the current rosters (minus rookies) or the playoff rosters.

EDIT: I will be doing the current rosters without the rookies. For example, Antoine Walker is on the Heat, Joe Johnson is on the Hawks, and Quentin Richardson is on the Knicks. Ok, here we go.

I've got both rosters mapped out, so it wont take any more work either way, tried for the rookies but by the time I got them all finished, it would be time for Live' 06. Any more votes?

Ok first off, Im doing this ALONG with the Atlanta Hawk's dynasty. If I cant do both, this one will be dropped. Before I post all the information, I have a question. Should I...

a) Use the latest XBox Live Update (Playoff Rosters)

or

b) Use the current roster ie. Jerome James, Quentin Richardson (minus rookies).

You don't read well, do you?

So the other dynasty u picked is the 100 million dollar knicks team. Lets see what i can figure out.

The two guys you want to trade are Penny Hardaway and Allan Houston. Combined, they take up like 30 million in cap room. Also, getting rid of them means more time for the Ariza kid, which will help in his potential. However, Penny has only one year left, so you can let him stay for the year, then show him the door at the end of the season.

Before you try and trade Houston, cut Bruno Sundov and replace him with Jerome Moiso. Sign him for the minumum and use him as trade bait.

The trade I worked out was to get Stromile Swift from Houston (you put him on the Rockets, right?) Even though you are also going to have to take some ugly, expensive contracts (Weatherspoon, Baker cuz of Houstons god damn salary) I think this is better for you in the end. The trade would look like this.

New York gets:
S. Swift
C. Weatherspoon
V. Baker

Houston gets:
A. Houston
J. Moiso
J. Jackson

Now you are locked up at center, but you still have a hole at backup PG. Go back to the glory days and make Penny the backup PG, while moving Ariza to SG(gives him more PT).

If you like Jerome James as a backup C, you are done right here. But in Live, his rating is somewhat low (52-53ish), so you will need a better backup C. Try moving Malik Rose. Mount Mutombo makes a perfect replacement. Good shotblocker, and even though he retires after 1 year, he will help your team immediately and will clear some space once he does retire.

Then you'll be running
C S Swift
PF M Taylor
SF Q Richardson
SG J Crawford
PG S Marbury
6 T Thomas
7 P Hardaway
8 M Sweetney
9 D Mutombo
10 T Ariza
11 J Williams
12 J James
IR 1 C Weatherspoon
IR 2 V Baker
IR 3 J Butler

That's a good starting lineup with solid backups at every position and a payroll under 100 Million.

Consider these suggestions, and good luck with this Knicks dynasty!

I really want to, but Im on X-Box so I dont get the rookie updates, only updates I get are the EA Sports ones. Creating all the rookies will take up way to much time.

I like cwebbiverson's idea. And you get a better starting C.

I like his idea's too, thats why I asked for his opinion. Cwebb, me and you think alot alike. (Great minds think alike..). When I sat down the first thing I said was I have to get rid of Houston's contract. I was going to get rid of Penny's, but it only lasts this year like you said, so I can stand it. Stro' would be a fantastic pickup, nice choice. I will probably do what you said. But I won't stop there, I have a few more Knick's to dropoff to a team that is under the cap, for next to nothing, to clear up some of my space. 8-)

New York Knick's Press Conference Held!

Today, New York Knick's general manager, Isiah Thomas and Head Coach, Larry Brown held a press conference infront of that damned New York Media. Isiah would go first.

Image

Reporter: First of all, Isiah, what are your plans with the Knick's before the season begins? Are your movements done? Is the roster set?

Isiah Thomas: Well ya' know, from day one, when I became the Knick's GM, I made moves from the get-go. The media was having a field day as I swapped left and right. And to be quite honest with you, we may have some more of that going around before the season begins. This roster is not set, and there is still some moves to be made.

Reporter: Any word on to who will be involved in the deals?

Isiah Thomas: When I know something, I'm sure you guys will know something. (laughs). My first priorty is to establish some young stars early, and try to eliminate that big salary cap mess we have going on. I will do my best to make smart moves that will free up some space, and at the same time, keep our team as a strong unit. I think we have a great trio to build around in Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, and newly acquired, Quentin Richardson. It is just my job to establish a strong supporting core around these three. Now, I will let "Coach Larry", get a few questions in.

Image

Reporter: Coach Brown, What type of unit are you going to mold this team into? Will it be a team effort style like when you coached Detroit, or will it be more about building around one guy, like in Philadelphia?

Larry Brown: (laughs). Well, not to put down the 76ers, but I think this will be better off than my situation in Philadelphia, because like Isiah said, I have three players to go around. But rest assured, this will be a team effort, as basketball is a team sport.

Reporter: What are the plans with Stephon Marbury? He has been a Point Guard his entire career, but word has leaked out that he may switch to Shooting Guard.. what's the deal?

Larry Brown: Well, I can't speak for what position he will play in the future, because I don't know what kinda deals might go down. But for now, we are confident with Jamal Crawford at the 2 spot, rather than Stephon, and just keep Marbury at our 1 spot. I think that is really best for our team.

Reporter: Do you think that this team has a legitimate shot at the playoff's?

Larry Brown: Oh yeah, of course. I think we have a great shot at the playoff's. I mean with Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford as one of the best backcourts in the NBA, along with Quentin Richardson, the 3 Point Champion, and guys like Jerome James, Maurice Taylor, Allan Houston, Penny Hardaway... I mean we have a great lineup. So as long as ole' Isiah doesn't go to crazy with trades (laughs), we should be just fine. Thank you.

haha, you like that? Well.. he does have a history of crazy trades  .

On another note, CWebb, I was just the dynasty that I just use to check trades, and unfortunately, your Stro' deal doesn't work. First off Moiso wanted a four year deal, I tried to sign him to the mininum, but he declined. So I signed the next best rated PF that would agree to the deal and attempted the trade, but it was declined. I will be working to figure things out and see if I can come up with hopefully, an even better trade.
