Basketball Cards

Postby Kemp on Tue Aug 02, 2005 9:11 pm

Do you guys collect any basketball cards? I collected over 2000 basketball cards. I started collecting basketball cards in 1992 and stop collecting until 1996. I have more than 50 MJ's card. Around 20 Shaq's card and many other superstars. My most expensive card was the 1993-1994 Finest Refractors Jordan's card, worth around US$500. My favourite card was 1994-1995 Ultra All-NBA Shawn Kemp.

I got into it for a short while just coz it was the thing back then. Never really enjoyed it that much because I wasn't really into basketball or the nba as much as now. I don't think I have any use for it either since all you do is stare at it. You can't even play with it.

I used to collect them, up until around 1998. They've actually come in handy when it comes to making the old time roster patches, though if I could find a good price for some of the inserts I'd probably consider parting ways with them.

I've got about 5,000 of them. I can't be stuffed sorting them all out, my Dad spoilt me like crazy with basketball cards when I was younger.

When I was younger I collected a few because everyone did, maybe 200 or so. Nothing too special though, I don't think any of them would be worth very much besides an Allen Iverson rookie card that my friend gave me.

Pretty much any dodgy player from the mid 90's onwards you can name, I'll have a card of. There's also my prized Cedric Ceballos card, in his prime, at the Lakers

I had a few hundreds a few years ago, I think I threw them away though, or at least I think so since I can’t find them anywhere. I had a few jordans, nothing worth any money though I don't think.

I have an autographed Shawn Bradley card and photograph sent by his foster sister that I met on the internet several years back. I'm serious, btw.

I think I have a few Blue Chips cards, with Penny Hardaway and Shaq, and that's it for my basketball card collection.

Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner so I can't show it to you. Maybe I can find them on the web if they are still available.

Wow, you even has the one with MJ in Wizards uniform, that is cool. You must be still collecting basketball cards.

I might catalogue my collection later on, just the ones in the folder. I'm not going to go through 3 shoeboxes full of cards.

I collected them pretty much around the same time as you, Kemp40. I have cards from the late 80s (88,89) up to 97 and the last card I got was a Vince Carter rookie card, and then I stopped collected. I've actually bought like 3 or 4 packs of cards since then just to see how things are different from now and then. And I've got one of MJ in the Wizards uniform.

I have a lot of MJs. I have about a page or two in plastic sheets of AI rookie cards. I have a bunch of rookie cards from that time period. Players like Penny, KG, Ray Allen, Marbury, Kobe, etc. I think I have only like one Shaq rookie card. Like mikki, I think I have like every rookie card of the class of 95-96. That's when I really got into collected.

I have a basketball binder with all the plastic pages that I keep my cards in. I would trade with friends and people in my school.

I'd put the cards in order of players i liked the most, so I had MJ first, then Penny, then I think Shaq, AI, KG.

I'd scan some for the fun of it, but my scanner is and has been broken.
