Trade for Wade, LeBron

Postby colickyboy on Tue Jun 21, 2005 1:01 am

i'm in the first year of my bulls dynasty and doing pretty well thru january.

i recently traded away kirk hinrich and luol deng for lebron james and a stiff to meet the salary cap (that stiff will be a free agent at the end of the season so he'll be off my books for next year).

then i traded away ben gordon and andres nocioni for dwyane wade and another upcoming free agent stiff to meet the salary cap.

so i have wade and james to go with eddy curry (who is an mvp candidate) and tyson chandler (who is fourth in the league in scoring). problem is now i have no bench.

another problem: since wade's and james' contracts expire in the same year, i'm gonna REALLY have to fork over the bank to keep them both in 2007-08.

from a coaching standpoint, i can pro'bly still win the championship even with a bad bench. and from a playing standpoint, it'll be a grand time playing with james and wade on the same team.

but from a GM standpoint (esp financially), were these trades ok? or should i traded for some other young star (like kobe) instead of wade so they have different expiring contracts? aside from my starting five, i'm trying to keep only players who have contracts that expire when wade and james are looking for new deals...so i think i should be ok but i'm a newbie with this money management stuff.

thoughts?

What ... Kirk and Deng for LeBron :S

Wow ... good trades. I really wanted LeBron Wade 'Melo on the same team, I might have to try and work that out  great team though.

And LeBron will be a 99 in a few years, Wade will rise into the mid 90s I expect. And they will last longer than Kobe.

Also, you can still go over the cap pretty easily. With my Cavs dynasty, I had a team set, so whatever LeBron wanted I gave him because I was never going to alter it around much.

 nice trades. I think Lebron is the best young player in the game so if you have him you will have bigger chances of wining the trophy.

once I started with default roster palying with Bucks. at first I traded M.Reed with some other players to Cavs for Lebron. then I traded Van Horn to Bobcats for future 1.round pick and E.Okafor because he(van Horn) was too expensive. so I had a lot of space on my salary cap so I signed T.Parker as a free agent. then I traded J.Smith along with some playes to Lakers for L.Odom. after that I was 3 time world champion. after that I got a chance to continue my career in Atlanta Hawks . I realized that I could not get Lebron anymore. seems you can have him only once. :(

Duh!

OK, so you've got...

LeBron 4mil?
Wade 3.5Mil?
Tyson 4Mil
Curry 5Mil

Tyson and Curry will resign for about the same amount after the first season.

So you're stuck with E Robinson and A Davis and E Piatowski and their 20Mil+

Either stack your FA's for the same year they all come off contract (which will be before Wade and LeBron im pretty sure) or trade them now for some cats coming off contract end of this year.... Maybe Penny Hardaway for A Davis and A Henderson or someone like that for E Robinson, you wont win the championship easily this year, but if you trade now youll have around 20mil to play with in the FA market to strengthen your bench.,

I don't think going over cap impacts your GM rating at all. My teams all get eventually way over cap when i resign my rooks, but i still get 100 GM.

Are you simulating games or playing them? Because a bad bench will kill you in the playoffs if you sim the games.

It's somewhat realistic...bad bench is the Achilles' heel of teams like Phoenix and they're out now...and look what a good bench player like Horry can do for you =/

I'm playing them. Players score less when simmed, and I don't like the bench rotation of simmed games.

True. I'm going to do the old Phil Jackson strategy with the Bulls when he only sat MJ or Pippen but never both together. That way, Jackson always had a floor leader/run-stopper on the court at all times. So either Wade or James will always be on the floor for my team.

Actually, I'm using Andrew's patch so ERobinson is not on the team anymore. :D

Thanks....good idea to strengthen the bench in the off-season...hopefully I can still do well in the playoffs this season. I have four players who are not FAs at the end of this season, so yes I'm trying to ship all of them. That Penny for ADavis deal is a good suggestion. ADavis is making $12 mil...way too much. Great clubhouse guy...but that doesn't count jack in a computer game

You'll be fine then...that team will be killer with human control.

I like your trades! I might have to try that out myself :D

Thanks.

I wonder if anybody has accomplished trades to have Kobe,Lebron and Wade in the same team? that would be the most awesome 1-2-3 punch ever!

haven't tried it, but i'm sure you could do it with the bulls. you can already get lebron and wade on the bulls. you'd probably have to trade your two big men (curry and chandler) for kobe. which means you would definitely have the best backcourt but you'd pro'bly get killed in the paint...

After the draft, just go to sign free agents and sign all the rookies that weren't signed. look for young guys with 50+ ratings, they usually get good really fast and make great bench players. Some of them will eventually become starters after a few years pass.

u can go over the salary cap in dynasty i'm like 30 million over the salary cap. at the end of the season resign the players u want to keep during the resigning period. if you wait until the resigning period is over the game is not going to let u it will say no salary cap space
I'm the greatest
