Yes trading draft pics would be nice, but it would have to be implemented right. In NHL the draft pics are very hard to trade. The first pics are almost impossible to get and the second round draft pic is worth next to nothing. There needs to be more random factors in the draft for the fact that the pics would be reasonably tradeable. And not all top seeds are automatically overall 85...
And about three team trading... This should not be such a big problem. It almost worked in Live 2001 but it was over-simplified and untested to make it balanced so they basically cut it. All you need to do is take both AI controlled teams and compare what they get and what loose in the deal. Compare overalls, salaries, contract lengths and player ages. And I think it would result in quite realistic trades.
I've been playing franchises with a friend of mine... We've come up with a rule that every three years of playing experience lowers his overall by one, so you have to trade couple points of overall better players for those top prospects. And it also brings the future in perspective. You have to give some to guarrantee the future and you can't keep up the championship pace the whole time. Atleast not before Live 2003 in which you can get so many free agents it's a miracle if you play a season without finishing in the first three teams.
I'll just have to say to the guy who's never gotten a top 20 draft pic, well you just exploit the bugs in the game which is so sad for you. When you get your titles for free, well it really doesn't feel like winning...
