Hello hello. I am Aaron Fine, the omnipotent controller of the Orlando Magic. I am coach, GM, player and god (just about - I can't do any smiting or grant eternal youth to Reggie).

I have already started my season with the Magic but do not remember my record and information off-hand and I am not at my computer to check right now. I will try to update this when I can. I am a stat junkie, so I will be mostly posting stats and perhaps only brief recaps.

I do play the games, on Superstar, and have been getting rocked, but I got to pay my dues. I'm on 5 minute quarters, both for playing and simming and am using the sliders found at nba-live.com under "Realistic Sliders".

I try to put up numbers that reflect the actual numbers (i.e. Francis should have the most points and a number of assists, and without me trying, turnovers to spare). I will hold on to my nucleus and will not do too many trades, if any (none my first season, just signing free agents). Plus I will do a rumour mill so I can have feedback before I do trades (I will propose numerous trades so people can choose from my selection.)

My unique feature, being a stat junkie, will to post at the end of the year
i) my player's stats
ii) players I once had on my team
iii) players I considered drafting (maybe like 8 ppl)

Also, I won't be playing every game from here on in, maybe only half of the season, so recaps for most games here-on-in will only really be box scores.

Thanks for coming to this post, and best of luck to all y'all.

More to follow.

Finally good to see someone use the Magic. I've always been quite a fan of the Magic lately after watching Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard.

This dynasty sounds good already, good luck.

A brief update on my season:

I recently decided to scrap it.

But, out of its ashes rose a new series: pretty much the exact same one!

Realizing that I couldn't wait for the next season to begin, I decided that 82 games was too long and 5 minutes certainly was not long enough. So, after much self-deliberation, I am doing a 29 game season with 6 minute quarters. Same ideas as before. Except I will do more active recaps. I still don't know how to do the screenshots and post much more than text (I will try images shortly), but you will almost feel like a Magic fan as you read this thread!

So without further ado, let me introduce my team (in the next post)

Oh, side note - please do vote on the poll - except it is min instead of 5. I want to know before I play my first game this weekend how to recap it. :D

I want this to be an interactive dynasty - I think I might have 2 forums running, just for cleanliness - this one as sort of a board meeting/discussion/comments section, the other one as strictly stats and dynasty updates.

The first order of business is picking up a free agent.

Look at the free agents available for Min contracts for one year. Let me hear some suggestions as to who should occupy my last roster spot.

My team currently consists of:
C K. Cato
PF D. Howard
SF G. Hill
SG S. Francis
PG J. Nelson

SG D. Christie
SF H. Turkoglu
C T. Battie
C M. Kasun
SG D. Stevenson
C A. DeClercq
PF P. Garrity

PF B. Hunter
SF S. Augmon

Right now I'm all ears, my assistants. I will narrow it down in the next couple of days based on suggestions and personal leaning. Please also tell me why I should pick up your suggested player. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

P.S. How do I properly post pictures. I haven't seen how my first attempt came out, but I would like to be a little proficient before I try to post more.

I don't really know what rosters you are using, so I don't really know what free agents are out there for you.

I would reccommend getting a decent point guard (Smush Parker?) if you're planning on keeping Steve Francis at the shooting guard spot since you don't really have a true point guard coming off the bench. Orlando's bench doesn't have that many holes, since Battie, DeClerq, Garrity and Kasun can fill in for your big guys, but it wouldn't hurt to have an extra center since a few of them aren't quite reliable. Turkey Glue and Christie aren't too shabby themselves at the SF/SG department, but I also wouldn't mind if you shop around Doug Christie and try to find someone else, since realistically he doesn't really want to be in Orlando.

Oh yeah, and to post a screen shot, you have to host it on a website. Use www.imageshack.us, it's a pretty good site and it's easy to use without any registration. When you finish uploading it, the site should give you a link and then just copy and paste that into your post with this tag:

final roster spot

Postby joeygraham on Mon Jul 18, 2005 11:48 pm

Just checking this works. My dynasty will begin shortly. I am just playing my "Summer League" to determine the Magic's final roster spot.

The short list is:

SG Tim Pickett - great defender. Had a great steal in the SL game, but my roster is pretty good at the 2.

PF/C Jamal Sampson - huge block and great rebounding. No offensive presence though.

PF Lonny Baxter - absolutely bullish in the block. Put up a team high 12 points on over 50% shooting. Not much of a defender and can't pull down the tough board, despite having 2 on the defensive glass and 1 O board.

PG Rashad Wright - surprised me hitting a contested 3 and executing the pick and roll to absolute perfection, nailing the deep 2. Not the greatest on defense though.

As, I believe it was Dr. Funky pointed out, I could use another big man and or PG, which knocks it down to Baxter, Sampson and Wright. I want youth, but not inexperience if it will count against me. Your thoughts are, of course, very welcome. I hope to get this dynasty started shortly, but my time is being consumed by both work and school, so it makes it a little hard to do so. Oh and the season (and SL) are on 6 min quarters.

You have to press the "Print screen" button and it should saved the screenshot. Paste it onto microsoft paint and then you'll have a .jpg picture. That's the way I do it, but I think there are more convenient ways of doing it.

Try using Photoshop for a start. It might pay to resize the images.

Also 5 min quarters? you chould do longer dude, get your stats mroe realistic.

So I guess you are a fan of the prorated stats then. I'm not really going for realism, but I've played 4 games in my dynasty (I will start a new thread with all that, I just want to get the kinks out of posting, especially pics, so I will continue to do that in here), on 6 min and the scores and player stats are actually really good. My scores usually end up in the 35-56 range and I've only once (vs AI) had someone go off for 21 (prorated 42) points. Otherwise, high scorer usually has 12-14 (24-28 Prorated) which I think is fair. Also, I dont have the time to play 8-12 min qtrs. So I play half. When I post, I think you will agree that what I have is pretty realistic for 1/2 a game. (Except maybe Mario Kasun going off for 9 pts in 5 min my time!!!)
