NBA Live 1???

Wed Mar 12, 2003 1:08 pm

this is weird, and i don't think EA is gonna make this "game", but it's still interesting to write about this idea.
How about making a exclusive game for 1 player (or an option in Live 200X?????
You start as a rookie, with limited rating points, choose your name, school, birthaday, etc... everything from "Create-a-Player".
With your rating, you're assigned a projected draft position, and, of course, a team drafts you (unless you're really bad :D ).
In your rookie season, you have to train hard to have the coach's confidence, and hopefully be in the starting line-up.
After your first, seaason, according to your stats, the CPU decide if you develope into a greater player, or your ratings decrease and become a bench-warmer.
After the third year, (end of the contract) you decide if your gonna leave, stay, sign-and-trade, etc.
Well, after that, keep playing, try to get the MVP, the Championship, etc, and in the end, a cart will display all the stuff you have won ("achiviements", that's correct????), and in every off-season you can choose retirement or not.
That's the whole idea, if you want to put other things that could help this idea, post it.
And please, no flame to me. I'm just postin this idea.

The idea of an individual career mode has been mentioned before. It's by no means a terrible idea, but I don't see it happening anytime soon (now that I've said that, look for the new individual career mode in NBA Live 2004 ). To work as you suggested, it would have to be similar to player lock but without the ability to control substitutions. Hopefully that would not mean watching a 48 minute game while recording a DNP.

Additionally, you would not control the team's transactions and so forth, which is what makes Franchise mode appealing. I feel that the ability to control the whole team, all of the players, all of the transactions, would be more appealing than a single player career mode. As it stands, Franchise mode allows you to be the coach, GM and star player (to borrow a phrase from an earlier version of NBA Live).

I'd like to see some further improvements to the mode that is already in the game before adding another career mode. It's an idea that always has some interesting elements (and variations), but I just don't think it would be as appealing as what we have already. There'd be too much watching and not enough gameplay or features readily available. When you control the whole team, you can change the lineup, make trades, sign and release players etc throughout the season. With single player, there'd be too much sitting on the bench and waiting until the offseason to do any of the transaction stuff.

I don't have any advanced knowledge on Live 2004 guys. For all I know, this could be Live 2004's big secret. My post was just opinion, I didn't mean to kill the idea or the discussion. It was just my two cents. :)

What kind of a terrible idea is this?! i'm going to flame the fuck out of you! ........j/k ()

That would be pretty cool...like 'ready 2 rumble 2' but with basketball :D. but as andrew said, i'd like to see them improve the normal franchise mode first...:)
