Greatest gaming moments

Postby Matthew on Sun Jul 10, 2005 4:45 pm

This can be from anything! I'll start with a few:

Madden 2003:
Playing against my friend, the score was 17-14 my way when Timmy scored a touchdown to make it 21-17 with less than half a minute remaining. Off the kickoff, derrick mason returned it for a touchdown and the titans won, 24-21. Greatest Madden moment, for sure....

... apart from this. Still in 2003, my titans went 15-1 and rolled through the playoffs. They met the rams (fate baby) in the superbowl, and faulk was injured. Then warner went down. But Bulger stepped in and was playing incredible. It was 34-31 titans in the final minutes when mcnair threw a redzone interception, and i think it was dre bly who was running the other way. I was in control of george who somehow ran him down, and he got JACKED UP! and recovered the fumble. The titans ran time off the clock, and George ran it in for a td to make it 41-31, to win the superbowl. George was the MVP.

Halo 2.
Alot of great multiplayer moments. I'll share a few. On zanzibar, 2 on 2 ctf, a friend got the flag and made a run for it. we were on defense, and i was smoked with a shotgun. It takes longer to respawn, and I just legged it to the beach. On the way, i picked up the rocket. As soon as i reached the edge, I fired a rocket where the flag spot is... and the fired another, killing both team members! Clutch baby.

Also in zanzibar, 2 on 2 team slayer, me and my friend had a sniper each, and i had the shotty and he had the rocket. we were stationed on each of the large rocks, snipering the opposing team, and they had no answer. we had a combined kill streak of 35, and won 50-20. I took a picture with my mobile phone as proof.

One final moment in zanzibar. 2 on 2 slayer still. I picked up the sniper located near the rocket launcher ammo, and as i zoomed in i looked up towards the turret. Both there members ran out, and head shots to the two of them in succesion. they were both dead in less than a second. I had a headjob grin for about a minute :proud:

Jonah Lomu Rugby... I went undefeated for 3 years, playing against my brother and best friend and whatever random guys wanted to play. We'd play the game for like 3 hours every single day, it was an addiction.

Anyways, after 3 years I had my first ever loss... it was against my brother, but I still have some fond memories of the game. He was just killing me, it was half time and the score was 35-0. The halves were only like 7 minutes long so I kinda knew I was going to get belted. After half time, the whole match swung and with 30 seconds to go the score was 35-33 ... I did a shallow kick off and regathered the ball, as I was charging up the field to get into field goal range he snuck one of his players into my attacking line (taking advantage of the shit offside rule in Lomu Rugby) and intercepted the ball. He then kicked it out of bounds and won, prick.

In the return match I beat him 79-0 (Y)

It was the 2005 ECF Finals in my Pacers season of NBA Live 2005, with my Pacers(5th seed) at NY Knicks(4th seed) in game 7. The Pacers were down by 5 with 5 seconds left so I shot a 3 with Reggie, and it went in. Then I stole the inbound pass, and ran to the 3 point line and I got it in with Reggie for the buzzer beater and the series clinching win!!!!

Playing Smackdown vs. Raw with friends. It was a Elimination Chamber match, i was RVD and sat at the top of the chamber. All of beat the shit out of them selves, and its was only me and one of my friends left i did some flying maneuver off the top and then did my frog splash and won. That was a fun game.

 .. while we're on the subject... my girlfriend CONSTANTLY calls me while I'm playing Pro Evo Soccer. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but if you're in the middle of a game and someone calls... about half way through the convo you start to get distracted by the game, and then randomly go through game menu's and stuff just for the sake of doing something. By the end of it you've unpaused the game and have the phone balanced on your shoulder while still playing it.

there's no comparison how I won a game in Triple Play 2000. in the 12th inning, game tied, bases loaded; Carlos Delgado hits a grand slam.

oh yea there is, I won a friend in Live 2001 by launching a shot from my own three point line down two points in the overtime at the buzzer

Just last week against Legend, I was down by 20 (he was dominating the whole game) in a fantasy draft-based season, and it was the fourth quarter. For some reason, I was hitting three pointers from left and right, then next thing you knew, it was a five point game with a minute to go. I chipped away in the final minute, and after Legend's miss, I had ten seconds to win the game and I was down by one point. I made some quick ball movement, but he was playing tight D on me, and there was maybe one or two seconds left. So I just took a jumper with Michael Redd, and fortunately for me, I get fouled. I'm at the line with 0.9 seconds left and sink both free throws.

Hmm... The best time was when I was up by 15 with like 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter in Live, but I accidently had CPU Assistance on. The Heat made a bunch of quick baskets, and then Udonis Haslem nailed a 3 leaving 0.1 seconds left and the Heat up by 1. I figure I'll have a laugh by giving it to my PF, Chris Webber. I miraculously get the shot off from a few steps behind half court and BANK the shot in to win.

And Jae, hell yeah I know what you mean. I just keep repeating "Yes, OK, right, sure", but then it eventually turns into me yelling at the game saying "NO, NO, NO, NO DAMNIT".

you..................won a friend???

heheehe sorry mate, that just lookd funny to me, i know wot u mean :P

I'd say my best gaming moment was winning the super bowl with my Jets in Madden 2002, i focused fully on defense that year and scores were 0-0 with 1:01 to go, and MVP Curtis Martin broke free on a run and scored the only touchdown of the superbowl :P

i went 14-2 that year, whilst only allowing 7.4ppg all season, i was so proud of my defense :P

[My] Madden 2005 CE I was playing at a camp against one of our youth group leaders. Anyway I was the Falcons and he was Minnesota and I had Randy Moss doubled up the whole game but he still was making BS catches and stuff. Anyway, I was up by a touchdown when he got in (cuz someone else was playing but quit in the second quarter) and eventually the score was 17-14 with 2 minutes or so left in the game. He scored real quick on a touchdown with (fucking) Randy Moss. Anyway, I had the ball back with about 53 seconds to go with the Falcons.

My strategy was to call all pass plays and if my recievers weren't open I'd run with Vick. Well I did that but time was ticking down and I had 1 TO i think and I was down 21-17. Then his wife came in and she said she didnt know squat about football but she was cheering for me to win lol. Well down to 15 seconds and I ran one of those plays (with Peerless Price) thats a ">" pattern and I hit Peerless Price on the run. He was jammed up with a corner right on him but somehow I broke the tackle. I was running accross the field and with 11 seconds to go I stopped at the 1 yardline and high stepped accrose the 1 yard to run 6 seconds off of the clock. I stopped for about half of a second and then walked in. He couldn't score on the kick return or the hail mary (to randy moss  lol) at the end.

10min qaurters.

i think it was my third season in, afta bein beaten the previous year in the superbowl.

I traded most my picks n good/decent offense players for three main guys.

I know i had Ray Lewis,Brian Dawkins and one of the top CB's and i cant remember who it is lol

Pennington and Martin with T.Holt were my main guys on O

i had really solid Linebackers with Ray aswell and had the normal Jets Defensive Line.

Haha why's that?

Some more memories :boohoo:

Redfaction:
My first real first person shoot em up that I got into. Until Halo2, i was convinced this was the best game ever. Anyways, me and my mate were playing with the bots on medium, first to 50 kills. We used to always just deck each other, and end up losing to the bots, so we called a truce. Scotty was under the ramp with the heavy machine gun (we were on warlords) and i was on the opposite side with the gigantic rocket launcher. I knew where he was, so I aimed for the dead centre of the map, so it wouldnt hit him. But what I didnt expect was one of the bodies to fly and hit him, which caused him to die! One of the absolute classic moments... but after that, the truce was no more :proud: (pity red faction two was so terrible. imagine ctf one red faction one  )

NBA Live 2002
This was inspired by Jeffx and Jae (jeffx, becuase of his love for the knicks, and jae, becuase he's such a nerdy cunt and really started off the franchise reviews with all nice formatting). I'll just quote what I posted in the old forum:
As some of you guys are aware, I have been doing a Knick franchise. What I did was I used the knicks, played Camby for 5 games, and put him on the IR for the rest of the season. I then simmed to 7 games left in the regular season (thats where the real NBA season was upto).
But I did make a few minor changes. The Clippers offered me Corey Maggette for Weatherspoon, and I couldnt turn that down. Plus Atlanta proposed Nazi Muhumad for Howard Eisley. Both these trades helped me out alot, especially with the second unit.
I played each game on superstar, with fatigue on, and 9 minute quarters. The defense fouls were one bar away from max and offensive fouls done to the second last bar.

I lost against Sacramento and Orlando first, but I was only 1/2 game back from Philly who was in the 8th spot. I then went on a 5 game winning streak that included key victories over the Celtics (they had the best record in the league), Miami (they were 39-0 until I knocked them off at their home arena), Chicago, Washington and the Nets. Philly was half a game back on me on the last day of the regular season, but they held the tiebreaker, so I had to beat New Jersey at home or rely on Indiana to beat Philly. I won, and Indiana won, so I had secured the 8th spot by 2 games.

My final record was 41-41, and heading into the playoffs all I wanted to really do was get one victory(Boston is very, VERY deep). In game one, I lost by 2 points. Allan Houston was fouled shooting a three with under 5 seconds to go. I made the first, but missed the 2nd, and I had no choice but to brick the third for the chance of the offensive rebound. The shot went up, and bricked, and Camby got the loose ball, shot a fadeaway in the lane, and it hit the back of the rim. But we went on to win the series 3-1 after I made some simple defensive adjustments( Spree on Pierce, Camby on walker) and Boston was screwed.

Orlando had won 57 games, and had improved its roster too. I had a big lead in game one only to choke in the fourth.Tmac only had 11points, but he made one of two free throws to win the game for them. In game 2, I decided to go for a different line-up down the strecth. I put Thomas on Ewing, Camby on Garrity, Maggette on Tmac, Spree on Hill and Houston on Armstrong. But I had spree as the point gaurd and and Maggette as the small forward on offense. It worked, and I won four straight with those guys playing the bulk of the minutes.

Nest up was Miami, who were damn near unbeatable at home all season. But I was feeling confident, and game one was suprisingly effortless and I won 104-98. After that game I knew I would be OK. In game 2 I had a big early lead(19 in the 2nd quarter) but they came back. But they could never get over the hump, and I won a close one 94-90. In game 3, this series was over, and this is a good thing about live, the heat almost came out with nothing to play with (ALA Spurs last season). I won 130- 110. Up 3-0, I took game 4 by 18 points and moved into the NBA finals.
The Spurs and Twolves were 2-2 after I swept the Heat, but the Wolves won 2 in a row to reach the finals.
In game one, I didn't know what to do in terms of matchups. I decided just to play with my original starting line-up (Camby, Thomas, Spree, Houston and Jackson) and see what happens. Allan Houston didn't have that good of a game 1, but spree and Camby were playing like they did in 99. Spree was taking Garnett to school, using his speed to get to the rim, hiting tough bank shots, and I ended up with 39 points from him. Camby was crashing the boards and even was contributing with some scoring inside. Heading into the final minute I was down 1, and Garnett had fouled out. With about 2 seconds left on the shot clock and around 6 in the game, Houston was doubled and passed to a wide open spree who drilled a 3 to give me a 2 point lead. For the final shot I put Muhumad on Szcerbiak, Maggette on Billups and Spree on brandon. They went for the tie, But Marc Jackson's shot was off the back of the rim and game one was mine. It was good to see how Minnesota played without KG on the floor, as compared to when he was. A totally different team.

In game 2, spree was still hot, and finished with 30 points, this time Houston came along for the ride and scored 24. Garnett had 22, but only Billups with 11 had double digits, as the Knicks destroyed the T'wolves 100-77

I will prob play game 3 tommorow, and I feel pretty confident about winning the title at MSG. I will get a good draft pick too. I'll keep ya's updated. :)

Of course I didn't keep you guys updated. Spree went off in game 3 and game 4, dropping back to back 50 point games and I won in a sweep, and a 15-2 record in the playoffs. Thinking back, that was the most satisfying Live experience I have had, and probably every will. Unfortunately, ever since, Live has been pityful. I hope they turn it around though.
